February 23, 2014 Seventh Sunday in ordinary time Dear Parishioners, It is my pleasure to tell you about an exciting new app we have created for CTK called CTK Connect. CTK Connect is designed to embrace our mission to form disciples who “know, love and serve as Jesus did.” CTK Connect will help you keep connected to the parish while growing in your faith by encouraging you to: Know our faith and our God. Love God, self and each other. Serve by expressing our love in service to one another. 2699 Peachtree Road, NE Atlanta, Georgia 30305 404-233-2145 www.cathedralofchristtheking.org WHAT’S INSIDE: Your Legacy Page 2 New Parishioners Page 3 CTK Connect Page 5 Lenten Parish Mission Page 6 Around the Archdiocese Page 7 CKS News Page 9 Hispanic Pages Pages 10-11 The app will feature everything from Sunday Readings to News and Events to Prayers and a bible study page. We hope you take advantage of this useful tool we have created for you, our parishioners. To see more about CTK Connect, please go to Page 5 or visit our website. YOUR CATHEDRAL PARISH FAMILY YOUR LEGACY In our earliest years, visionary parishioners utilized planned giving as a way to fulfill their hopes and dreams for the Cathedral. For example, one of our founding parishioners established a charitable trust in her will, naming the Cathedral as beneficiary. The gift was small at first but has grown significantly over the decades continuing to bless the Cathedral day after day. We invite you to consider a planned gift to our Cathedral Fund as your long term legacy. Your gift will help support special projects and ministry needs beyond our annual operating expenses. A simple provision in your will or a designation from a retirement plan can create your future gift .You can designate a particular project or ministry or your funds can be used for the general needs of the Cathedral. We are ready to work with you and your advisors to develop a gift plan that best suits your goals and objectives. For a private discussion of planned giving opportunities, please contact The Cathedral Fund Advisory Board member Ham Smith, 404-261-6189 or Sharon Connelly, 404-267-3680, [email protected]. SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 23, 2014 Stewardship of Treasure How shall I repay the Lord for his goodness to me?” Psalm 116 In today’s first reading, the Israelites are urged to love their neighbors as themselves. In the Gospel, Jesus spells out how we are to do that—to give generously to those who ask of us and not to turn our backs on those who seek to borrow. We Welcome New Parishioners Justin Bordley Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Curry & Family Derek DeLeon Mr. and Mrs. Ray Donnelly IV SVDP Collection Next Weekend Sile Evans Next weekend, the monthly St. Vincent de Paul collection will be held after Mass. They have the right to confer on such associations the type of organization which they consider best calculated to achieve their objectives. They have also the right to exercise their own initiative and act on their own responsibility within these associations for the attainment of the desired results. As We insisted in Our encyclical Mater et Magistra, the founding of a great many such intermediate groups or societies for the pursuit of aims which it is not within the competence of the individual to achieve efficiently, is a matter of great urgency. Such groups and societies must be considered absolutely essential for the safeguarding of man's personal freedom and dignity, while leaving intact a sense of responsibility.
