Seventh Sunday in ordinary time
Dear Parishioners,
It is my pleasure to tell you about an exciting new app we
have created for CTK called CTK Connect. CTK Connect is
designed to embrace our mission to form disciples who
“know, love and serve as Jesus did.” CTK Connect will help
you keep connected to the parish while growing in your
faith by encouraging you to:
Know our faith and our God.
Love God, self and each other.
Serve by expressing our love in service to one another.

The app will feature everything from Sunday Readings to News and Events to
Prayers and a bible study page. The app will be available in the iTunes App
Store and Google Play beginning on Ash Wednesday. You may download it by
searching for CTK Atlanta. The individual who connects the most between
Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday will have a reserved pew for their family
and friends at an Easter Sunday Mass!
We hope you take advantage of this useful tool we have created for you, our
parishioners. To see more about CTK Connect, please go to Page 5 or visit
our website.
God Bless You,
Monsignor Frank, Rector

YOUR CATHEDRAL PARISH FAMILY
YOUR LEGACY
In our earliest years, visionary parishioners utilized planned giving as a way to
fulfill their hopes and dreams for the Cathedral. For example, one of our
founding parishioners established a charitable trust in her will, naming the
Cathedral as beneficiary. The gift was small at first but has grown significantly
over the decades continuing to bless the Cathedral day after day.
We invite you to consider a planned gift to our Cathedral Fund as your long term
legacy. Your gift will help support special projects and ministry needs beyond our
annual operating expenses. A simple provision in your will or a designation from
a retirement plan can create your future gift .You can designate a particular
project or ministry or your funds can be used for the general needs of the
Cathedral.
We are ready to work with you and your advisors to develop a gift plan that best
suits your goals and objectives.
For a private discussion of planned giving opportunities, please contact The
Cathedral Fund Advisory Board member Ham Smith, 404-261-6189 or Sharon
Connelly, 404-267-3680, [email protected].

Stewardship of Treasure
How shall I repay the Lord for his goodness to me?” Psalm 116
In today’s first reading, the Israelites are urged to love their neighbors as themselves. In the
Gospel, Jesus spells out how we are to do that—to give generously to those who ask of us and
not to turn our backs on those who seek to borrow.

February 23: Why I Love Jesus and Love Religion March 2: Deserted (Lent) PRAYING PACEM IN TERRIS:
Men are by nature social,
and consequently they
have the right to meet
together and to form
associations with their
fellows. They have the
right to confer on such associations
the type of organization which they
consider best calculated to achieve
their objectives. They have also the
right to exercise their own initiative
and act on their own responsibility
within these associations for the
attainment of the desired results.
As We insisted in Our encyclical
Mater et Magistra, the founding of a
great many such intermediate groups
or societies for the pursuit of aims
which it is not within the competence
of the individual to achieve efficiently,
is a matter of great urgency. Such
groups and societies must be
considered absolutely essential for the
safeguarding of man's personal
freedom and dignity, while leaving
intact a sense of responsibility. (2324)

Atlanta Mission 5K
To kick off Catholic Schools' Week 2014, teachers from CKS walked and ran
together at the Atlanta Mission 5K to raise awareness for the fight against
homelessness in our city. Was it early? Definitely. Was it freezing? No doubt.
Was it worth it? Absolutely. We shivered for most of the race, but the cold
helped to remind us of why we were there in the first place. By serving others, we
are in turn serving God, just as Jesus calls us to do. The race was a wonderful
way to begin our celebration of Catholic Schools Week!

a:

responsabilidad.(23-24)

WELCOME FROM THE PASTOR AND
CATHEDRAL STAFF
Dear Friends in Christ,
On behalf of Archbishop Wilton Gregory, the Clergy and
staff, I welcome you to the Cathedral of Christ the King. I
hope and pray that you feel welcomed by our parish
community and that your spiritual and pastoral needs will
be met.
We are a very active parish with 4,300 families and over one
hundred ministries. We encourage our members to share
their gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Our mission statement is to “Know, Love and Serve as Jesus
Did”. This is the mission of each disciple of Christ and, if
you are new, I hope and pray that you will join us and be
part of the community of Christ the King. If you are passing
through or visiting the city of Atlanta, I hope you enjoy your
worship experience and please visit us again.
If you would like to know more about our parish, you can
visit our website at www.cathedralofchristtheking.org or
email us.
May we, this day and all the days of our lives, know, love
and serve as Jesus did.
Prayers and Blessings,
Msgr. Frank McNamee, Rector
