An Important Message from Mrs. Hanford...
Families,
Important Dates
to Remember
on Page 2
Springtime brings many field trips. Teachers love
to have the support of family members helping
during these events. In order to attend your
child’s field trip all family members must register
as a volunteer through the Thompson School
District website. Once on the district website, look under “quick links”
for the “volunteer, get involved” link. Volunteers must register
quickly in order to have your paperwork processed in time. Please visit
the Truscott office for more information or support with how to
register. We are always happy to help!
Our second round of parent/teacher conferences
will be held March 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The
opportunity to partner with families to better
support your child is vital. During these meetings
we look forward to sharing your child’s progress
and areas needing growth. If you would like for me
to attend your child’s conference, I would be more
than happy to do so. Thank you in advance for
making this time a priority. Teachers will be sending home conference
notes by the middle of February.

Three, two, one, blast off! In flames, the Apollo 11 rocket lifted off. The main
idea is about the journey to the moon in 1969. First of all the spacecraft
circled the moon. They took pictures and sent them back to Earth. Also, the
spacecraft separated into two parts, the Eagle and the Command Module.
Michael Collins stayed in the Command Module. Neil Armstrong and Buzz
Aldrin landed on the moon in the Eagle. Most importantly, they needed to
get ready to go outside. They put on their gear, like over shoes, helmets with visors, gloves, and
space suits. Armstrong said, “That is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” as he
stepped onto the moon. President Kennedy had promised that an American would reach the
moon by the 60’s, and we made it!

Three, two, one, blast off! The main idea of this article is about the journey to the moon. First,
the space craft circled the moon once. It took pictures to send to Earth. The next fact is the space
craft separates into two different parts. Michael Collins stayed in, while Buzz Aldrin and Neil
Armstrong went outside. Finally, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong got each other ready to go
outside. They put on shoes, helmets, visors, gloves, and space suits. In conclusion, this trip was
important because we learned lots of new things from this journey to the moon.

The main idea of Spacebusters is about people that went to the moon in 1969. First of all, the
spacecraft circled the moon once before landing. Michael Collins stayed in the command module,
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin went out. The spacecraft and the eagle separated and they went
on the moon. Armstrong said, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." The
footprints and the American flag that Armstrong and Aldrin planted are still there today!
