2nd Grade Counseling Program
What we are learning in our counseling lessons
February
We learned the difference between ‘Fair’ and ‘Equal’. ‘Equal’ is when people get
the same. ‘Fair’ is when people get what they need or what they deserve. At
school we try to make sure things are fair but they might not always be equal.
What is the difference between fair and equal?
Students with wheelchairs or crutches get to use the elevator.
Is this equal? Is this fair?

We learned the five steps of joining a group and practiced the steps in role-plays.
1. Stand nearby, look and listen.
2. Say something positive, or ask questions.
3. Ask to play or join.
4. Say something helpful.
5. Ask again to play or join.
What games do you like to play at recess?

Aprendimos la diferencia de ‘Justo’ e ‘Igual’. ’Igual’ es cuando todos tienen lo mismo. ’Justo’ es cuando se tiene lo que se necesita o lo que merecen. En la escuela
intentamos hacer las cosas justas, pero no siempre son iguales.
¿Cuál es la diferencia entre justo e igual?
Los estudiantes en silla de ruedas o con muletas pueden
usar el ascensor. ¿Esto es justicia o igualdad?
Marzo
Aprendimos los cinco pasos para unirse a un grupo y practicamos estos pasos en
una actuación.
1. Párese cerca, mire y escuche.
2. Di algo positive o haz preguntas.
3. Pregunta si puedes jugar o te puedes unir.
4. Di algo que ayude.
5. Vuelve a preguntar si puedes jugar o te puedes unir.
