"So that you may realize the certainty of the teachings you have received." St. Luke began his Gospel by
explaining why he wrote it. His intention was to provide a written account
"of the events that have been fulfilled
among us." But he didn't write simply to make a historical
record; he wrote in order to bolster the confidence of the
Christian community. He wanted to offer them a resource for
realizing that what they had been taught was legitimate. This
is why he investigated "everything accurately anew" and
wrote it down "in an orderly sequence."
This passage helps us understand the relationship between sacred tradition and sacred Scripture. As Catholics,
we believe that the Bible is an essential part of divine revelation that goes hand in hand with the teachings that were
established by Jesus and passed on by his apostles. The
"Catechism of the Catholic Church" tells us that the church
"does not derive her certainty about all revealed truths from
the holy Scriptures alone. Both Scripture and Tradition must
be accepted and honored with equal sentiments of devotion and reverence" (#82). Here, Luke emphasizes that what
he writes is a confirmation of what was already being
taught.
This fact should help us appreciate the gift of the Bible.
This inspired collection of books exists to help us practice our
faith and to bring us into a deeper understanding of the revealed word of God. Although the Bible is not the only
source of revelation, it does help us to have what Luke calls
"certainty" regarding our faith. We do hear Bible readings at
Mass, but we would do well to read the Bible on our own as
well. Let us not miss the opportunity to hear God's word
speaking to us every day.

Le damos la bienvenida a todas las personas que asistan a
nuestra misa en español, por primera vez.
1. Adoración Eucaristica y confesiones son todos los sabados de 3:30-4:45 pm en la iglesia.
2. El rezo del Rosario se lleva a cabo todos los Domingos a
las 11:00 am en la Iglesia.
3. Les recordamos que la misa de Quinceañera se debe
apartar con seis meses de anticipación y la quinceañera
deberá de asistir al grupo de jóvenes de la iglesia.
4. El grupo de oración se reune los dias Sábados de 7 a 9:30
pm en la iglesia. Se inicia la reunión con la misa y después tenemos la oración.
5. Horario de Oficina: Los días miércoles se atenderá todo lo
concerniente a Bautismos, quinceañeras y sacramentos
en general, asi como también los pagos de inscripción
del catecismo y otros. En español de 5 a 6 pm y 7 a 8 pm.
Si el bautismo va a ser en otra parroquia (fuera del estado o
nación) tiene que venir antes de la preparación bautismal
para registrar al niño en la parroquia y poder mandar la
carta al párroco correspondiente.

del Tiempo Ordinario
Hace más de dos mil años que
Jesús pronunció las siguientes
palabras: "Hoy mismo se ha
cumplido este pasaje de la Escritura que acaban de oír" (Lc 4, 20).
Ojalá que este 2016, y en esta comunidad parroquial,
también se cumpla en nosotros este pasaje del Evangelio y
tal como Jesús lo hizo: llevemos a los pobres, a los necesitados de alguna palabra de aliento y de amor, la Buena Nueva. Éste es el tema central que hoy escuchamos, la palabra
de Dios proclamada a todos nosotros. En la primera lectura
Esdras reorganiza a la comunidad israelita después del
destierro y públicamente anunció la ley de Dios. San Pablo
explica cómo la palabra de Dios se hace realidad en Cristo
y se manifiesta en los diferentes carismas que Dios ofrece a
las personas. Jesús comienza su actividad pública comentando la sagrada Escritura en la sinagoga de su pueblo Nazaret.
¿Crees tú que la palabra de Jesús se ha perdido en la
actualidad? ¿Crees que ya no es necesario anunciar el bien
y denunciar el mal? Todavía Jesús es el Mesías, el que libera
de toda atadura, el que brinda la paz. Cada vez que asistimos a la Eucaristía dominical es como si estuviéramos en la
sinagoga escuchando a Jesús mismo. Deberíamos salir de
ahí con un compromiso auténtico y único de llevar la Buena
Nueva y de ser la buena noticia para los que nos rodean.
Las sugerencias son muchas, pero una es la que nos lleva a
ser mejores en esto de ser heraldos de esperanza y es ser
coherentes con nuestros hechos y palabras.

The Knights will be serving a spaghetti dinner beginning at
6:00 PM. The cost is $7.00 per plate with families of four or
more paying only $25.00 Bingo will follow
with cards costing $.50 each per game. The
winner of each game will receive 50% of
the pot of that game.
