OLMC Students Experience the Arts
Thanks to a generous donation from the Agee
Foundation, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel school had
visitors this week from the Houston Grand Opera
Co., who provided three performances, covering
grades Pre-K through 8th grade. First, on Tuesday
we were visited by a Houston Grand Opera singer
who provided our students in Pre-K through 2nd
grade
with
a
Storybook
Opera
experience. Storybook Opera is an engaging and
enjoyable introduction to opera for young children,
which
brings
singing
story
tellers
to
schools. Students were able to experience, in opera
form, the children's books Westward Ho, Carlotta!
and Muncha! Muncha! Muncha! On Wednesday,
students in 3rd through 8th grade experienced
Opera to Go! in which Houston Grand Opera
presented a full opera performance of
Rapunzel. Students enjoyed this rich exposure to
the arts and music, while also reinforcing their love
of reading.

Gracias a una generosa donación de la Fundación Agee, la
escuela Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo tuvo visitas esta
semana venidos de la Compañía Gran Opera de Houston
que brindó tres presentaciones, dirigidas a los grados desde
Pre-K hasta 8vo. grado. En primer lugar, el Martes tuvimos
la visita de un cantante de la Gran Opera de Houston, que
ofreció a nuestros estudiantes de Pre-K hasta el segundo
grado con una experiencia de Opera con un Libro de
Historia. La Ópera del Libro de Historia “Storybook Opera”
es una introducción interesante y divertida a la ópera para
los niños pequeños, lo que trae cantantes que cuentan
historias a los niños de las escuelas. Los estudiantes
pudieron experimentar, en forma de ópera, esos libros para
niños de Westward Ho, Carlotta! Al igual que Muncha!
Muncha! Muncha! El Miércoles, los alumnos de 3er a 8vo.
grado experimentaron la “Opera to Go”! en la que La Gran
Ópera de Houston presenta una ópera llena de Rapunzel.

Enroll Now, Classes are Filling!
OLMC School is now accepting registrations for
the 2014-15 school year, which begins in midAugust. Of special interest are those families with
3 or 4 year old children who are interested in our
Pre-Kindergarten program. Our Pre-K program is
an academic program in which students begin to
learn the fundamentals of school behavior,
academics, and faith. Students begin learning their
letters, numbers, colors, prayers, etc, in Pre-K3 and
in Pre-K4, they begin learning to read with the
Happily Ever After reading readiness program
from Rowland Reading Foundation. If your child
will be age 3 and toilet-trained by September 1,
2014 they qualify to enroll in Pre-K3. If they will
be age 4 by September 1, 2014, they will qualify to
enroll in Pre-K4. For more information, or to take

cumplidos de aquí al 1ro. de Septiembre del 2014, y va
solito(a) al baño entonces reúne los requisitos para
inscribirse en Pre-K3. Si tiene 4 años cumplidos de aquí al
1ro. de Septiembre de 2014, entonces reúne los requisitos
