PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Parishioners:
Why is Rose smiling? Rose Marshall is the happiest
she’s been in years. Every Sunday, her son Jack picks her
up at her Rush Avenue home, drives her to St. Mary’s
Church, opens the car door for her, gets her “handy-dandy
rolling walker” from the trunk and sets it in front of his
mother. Then Rose walks into church with no help from
anyone.
“This new ramp has made me a new woman,” said
Rose, who was baptized at St. Mary’s in 1924 and has been
a member ever since. Rose said the old ramp was “iffy,”
she didn’t “feel confident” and always had her son “give me
a little push.” The new ramp was installed by Heritage
Access in January, thanks to a gift from Bill Wallace, who
remembered St. Mary’s in his will.
“A few years back, Bill told me he named St. Mary’s in
his will. He didn’t want to make a big fuss, but said he’d
like the money to be used for improvements at the
church,” said Father Tom. “I can’t think of a better
improvement than seeing Rose’s smile as she walks up that
new ramp.”
Like Bill at St. Mary’s, Thomas Towey has recently left a
large portion of his estate to St. Agatha’s. Like St. Mary’s,
we will put it toward the building of our elevator to make
life easier for our senior parishioners. We are extremely
grateful to Mr. Towey’s relatives and the Law Firm of
Connors and Sullivan for faithfully carrying out his last will.
We promise to continue keeping Thomas Towey in our
prayers.
I would like to take this opportunity to also thank all
our parishioners who have quietly put St. Agatha’s in their
will. I assure you that your gift will be put to good use, and
your generosity remembered for years to come.

BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN FAMILIES
The Bethlehem Christian Families mission would like to
express humble appreciation to you for allowing us to visit
your Church on the weekend of July 9-10. With your
kindness and generosity, the sales of the olive wood
carvings received a total amount of $2300.
It was really a great excitement to observe so many
FAREWELL
Time flies so fast! Before we know it, it’s already time
to say farewell to Seminarian Hung Cao and Fr. Pedro
Batista.
Seminarian Hung has been with us for 9 weeks,
experiencing different aspects of life in the parish. We
thank him for his help and we wish him God’s blessings as
he continues his preparation for the priesthood.
Fr. Pedro has been with us for 3 weeks, covering our
Spanish ministry while Fr. Ortiz is away. We thank Fr.
Pedro for his generosity and we hope to welcome him to
our parish again in the near future.
ST. MAXIMILIAN KOLBE’S RELICS
The relics of St. Maximilian Kolbe will be enshrined at
the San Damiano Mission at Holy Family church (85 North
15th Street, Brooklyn) from July 18 to July 20. On July 18,
there will be an Enshrining Mass at 12:15 pm, an Evening
Prayer at 5:00 pm, and a Healing Mass at 7:30 pm. On July
19, there will be an evening of reflection and Mass
beginning at 7:00 pm, all in Polish. The church will be open
for extended hours from July 18 to July 20 to allow pilgrims
to come and venerate the relics. Please join us as we
celebrate this Franciscan saint and his courageous witness
to the faith.
BUS TRIP
You are invited to join OLPH’s Circle of Friends on a bus
trip to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City, NJ, on Thursday, July
28. Coach bus will be leaving at 9:30 am from 5th Avenue
in front of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (between
59th Street and 60th Street). The cost is $40 per person,
must be at least 21 years old with a valid photo ID. For

PILGRIMAGE
You are invited to join the God Day Committee on a
pilgrimage to honor our Heavenly Father on Sunday, August
7, at the National Blue Army Shrine of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary in Washington, New Jersey. Buses will leave
at 8:00 am from OLPH (corner of 6th Avenue and 60th
Street). The cost is $30 per person. Please bring your own

“Esta nueva rampa me ha hecho una nueva mujer,” dijo
Rose, quien fue bautizado en la Iglesia de Santa María en
1924 y ha sido miembro desde entonces. Rose dijo que la
rampa vieja era “dudoso,” ella no “tenía confianza” y
siempre tenía a su hijo para darle “un pequeño empujón.”

Heritage Access en enero, gracias a un regalo de Bill

Seminarista Hung ha estado con nosotros durante 9

RELIQUIAS DE SAN MAXIMILIANO KOLBE
Las reliquias de San Maximiliano Kolbe serán
consagradas en la Misión de San Damian en la Iglesia de la
Sagrada Familia (85 North 15th Street, Brooklyn) del 18 de

La Iglesia la Visitación y el Comité Guadalupano de la
Iglesia la Visitación los invita a su Gran Evento el 26 de

为什么罗斯一直在笑？罗斯•马歇尔现在感
到好多年从未有过的快乐。每个星期天，她的儿子
杰克从她位于拉什大街的家里，开车带她到圣玛
利亚教堂，为她打开车门，从后备箱拿出手推车，
放在他的妈妈前面，然后罗斯在没有任何人的帮
助下，自己走进教堂。
“这个新的坡道让我成为一个新人”，罗斯说。
罗斯从 1924 年领洗就成为圣玛丽亚教堂的成员。
罗斯说旧的坡道让她“感到没有信心，总是需要
她儿子推上去”。这个新的坡道在一月的时候由汉

也留下了他遗产的大部分给圣亚佳德教堂。就像
圣玛利亚教堂一样，我们会把钱放在安装电梯的
费用里，使我们的年长教友更容易一些。我们衷心
地感谢托维先生的家属和遗产公司实现了托维的
遗嘱，我们也许诺为他祈祷。

圣马西连•国柏的圣髑将从七
月十八日到二十日存放于圣家堂
的圣达弥盎（85 North 15th Street,
Brooklyn）。七月十八日中午
