Dear Friends,
With joy, we have welcomed Pope Francis to our shores. Throughout the month of October we will focus on Stewardship
and reflect on his words:
“In this period of crisis today, it is important not to turn in on ourselves, burying our own talent, our spiritual, intellectual,
and material riches, everything that the Lord has given us; but, rather to open ourselves, to be supportive, to be attentive
to others… Life is not given to us to be jealously guarded for ourselves, but is given to us so that we may give it in turn.”
“The Church needs you, your enthusiasm, your creativity…” “Go. Be not afraid. Serve!”
Today in the second reading, St. James warns against accepting the standards of the world and assuming that what is
normative in society needs no countercultural challenge. The temptation to hoard riches is pervasive because this is
common and looks respectable enough. St. James points to God’s judgment on these attitudes and actions of amassing
wealth and comfort at the expense of others. We care called upon to ask ourselves: How might we be better stewards of
the material blessings we have been given?
We are experiencing a small crisis in our parish finances - our collections are not sufficient to meet our needs. As we begin
a month devoted to Stewardship, I ask you to prayerfully consider doubling your donation next Sunday…if you usually
give $5.00 dollars, give $10.00 next Sunday; if you give $20.00 most Sundays, give $40.00. This will help us out of our
temporary difficulties. If you can continue to do so throughout the month, it will move us closer to our vision of a parish
active in every way of serving the Lord.
With thanks and gratitude to God for the gifts he has given us as a Catholic Community,

Con alegría le hemos recibido a Papa Francisco a nuestro país. Durante el mes de octubre nos enfoquemos sobre la
corresponsabilidad y reflexionar sobre sus palabras:
En este período de crisis, es importante no cerrarse en uno mismo, enterrando el propio talento, las propias riquezas
espirituales, intelectuales, materiales, todo lo que el Señor nos ha dado, sino abrirse, ser solidarios, estar atentos al otro.
La vida no se nos da para que la conservemos celosamente para nosotros mismos, sino que se nos da para que la
donemos. “La Iglesia te necesita, tu entusiasmo, tu creatividad y alegría que son tan características de ti.” “¡Ve! ¡No
temas! ¡Sirve!”
Hoy día Santiago nos advierte contra la aceptación de los estándares del mundo y de asumir que lo que es normativo en la
sociedad no necesita un desafío contracultural. La tentación de hacer acopio de riquezas es insidiosa porque esta es hecha
generalmente y parece lo suficientemente respetable. Santiago trae a nuestra atención el juicio de Dios sobre estas actitudes
y acciones de amasar riquezas y confort a expensas de otros. Debemos preguntarnos a nosotros mismos: ¿Cómo podemos
nosotros ser mejores corresponsables de las bendiciones materiales que nos han sido dadas?
Estamos experimentando una pequeña crisis en las finanzas de nuestra parroquia. Nuestras colectas no son suficientes para
satisfacer nuestras necesidades. Al comenzar un mes dedicado a la corresponsabilidad, yo les pido a ustedes que
consideren doblar su donación el próximo domingo... si normalmente usted da $5.00 dólares, dé $10.00 el próximo

The LORD came down in the cloud and spoke to Moses. Taking some of the spirit that was on Moses, the LORD bestowed it on the
seventy elders; and as the spirit came to rest on them, they prophesied. Now two men, one named Eldad and the other Medad, were not
in the gathering but had been left in the camp. They too had been on the list, but had not gone out to the tent; yet the spirit came to rest
on them also, and they prophesied in the camp. So, when a young man quickly told Moses, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the
camp, " Joshua, son of Nun, who from his youth had been Moses’aide, said, "Moses, my lord, stop them." But Moses answered him,

be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it
off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed than with two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire. And if your foot

ocasión de pecado, córtatela; pues más te vale entrar manco en la vida eterna, que ir con tus dos manos al lugar de castigo, al fuego que
no se apaga. Y si tu pie te es ocasión de pecado, córtatelo; pues más te vale entrar cojo en la vida eterna, que con tus dos pies ser

OUR MISSION
The Somascan Fathers or “The Company of the Servants of
the Poor" was founded in 1534 when Jerome Emiliani
called together his collaborators and companions for a
general assembly. This handful of laymen and priests
adopted an organized structure for the movement of
religious and social reform started by Jerome in 1529 in
Venice. Their goal was to dedicate themselves to the care,
assistance, promotion of poor, orphans, abandoned youth.
WHAT WE DO
Serving the ORPHANS in WORK, DEVOTION,
CHARITY
The Somascan Fathers and Brothers continue St. Jerome's
mission by: living in communities pursuing holiness by
prayer and ministry to the poor living in humility and
kindness loving poverty and work praying to the Crucified
Jesus and Mary Mother of the Orphans being either priests
or brothers. Performing different ministries in the Church,
such as: care of orphans, disadvantaged and poor treatment
of at-risk-youth rehabilitation of drug addicts education
pastoral care and spiritual guidance pastoral care of
minorities foreign missions youth formation. Working in:
group homes treatment and rehabilitation centers retreat
houses schools youth centers parishes.

estén alertas para comenzar la 3º etapa “EN LAS HUELLAS
DE CRISTO” 6 semanas caminando con Jesús.

El padre Remo Zanatta de los Padres y Hermanos Somascan

NUESTRA MISIÓN
Los Padres Somascos o "La Compañía de los Siervos de
los Pobres" fue fundada en 1534 cuando Jerónimo
Emiliani llamó a sus colaboradores y compañeros para que
una asamblea general. Este puñado de laicos y sacerdotes
adoptó una estructura organizada para el movimiento de
reforma religiosa y social iniciada por Jerónimo en 1529
en Venecia, Italia. Su objetivo era dedicarse al cuidado, la
asistencia, la promoción de los pobres, los huérfanos, los
jóvenes abandonados.
QUÉ HACEMOS
Sirviendo a los huérfanos en el trabajo, dedicación,
caridad.
Los Padres Somascos y hermanos continúan la misión de
San Jerónimo: viven en comunidades que persiguen la
santidad por la oración y el ministerio de los pobres que
viven en la humildad y la bondad amorosa de la pobreza y
el trabajo que ruega a Jesús Crucificado y María Madre de
los Huérfanos de ser sacerdotes o hermanos. Realización
de diferentes ministerios en la Iglesia, tales como: el
cuidado de los huérfanos, el tratamiento desfavorecidos y
pobres de al-jóvenes en riesgo de rehabilitación de la
educación drogadictos cuidado pastoral y guía espiritual
cuidado pastoral de las minorías misiones extranjeras
formación de la juventud. Trabajo en: centros grupo de
tratamiento y rehabilitación viviendas retiro de jóvenes de
escuelas casas centros parroquias.

Se Busca Ayudantes
Para responder a cualquiera de estas necesidades de la parroquia con el regalo de su tiempo y

puedes llamar a la oficina parroquial (713-473-9484) o llenes el formulario en el otro lado y
colocarlo en la canasta en tiempo de la colecta.
Acomodadores
Necesitamos hombres y mujeres que se comprometerán al Ministerio Litúrgico como acomodadores
y saludadores. A pesar de que tenemos voluntarios que regularmente ayudan con la colección,
necesitamos los Ministros comprometidos en cada misa. Necesitamos dos equipos de seis personas
en cada misa del los domingos para servir cada dos semanas. Esto significa que necesitamos 84
hombres y mujeres comprometidos con este Ministerio. Hace dos semanas, siete hombres asistieron
a las dos reuniones para aquellos que están comprometidos con este Ministerio. Obviamente, falta
Ministros en este Ministerio. Para aquellos de ustedes que ya asisten a la misa y no están
comprometidos con otro ministerio litúrgico, esta es una manera hermosa y maravillosa para
participar en la liturgia, una palabra que significa "el trabajo de la gente". Por favor, vaya a la página
web de la parroquia y llene el breve formulario. Indique en la sección "Comentarios" la misa la cual
asist.. También puede llamar a la oficina parroquial para inscribirse en este Ministerio (713-4739484).
Comité del Festival de Primavera
El éxito de nuestro Festival de Primavera requiere una planificación cuidadosa y el apoyo de toda la
parroquia. Por favor considera ayudar tanto con la programación y la ejecución. El 30 de Septiembre,
habrá la primera reunión del Comité del Festival de Primavera. Por favor planea asistir para
averiguar cómo puedes ayudar.
Constructores, Artesanos y Manitas
Tenemos varios proyectos parroquiales los cuales podemos lograr sólo con la ayuda de voluntarios
capacitados. Por favor, vaya a la página web de la parroquia para llenar la forma para los voluntarios
e indique sus habilidades en la sección "Comentarios". También puede llamar a la oficina de la
parroquia para ofrecer sus habilidades (713-473-9484). O se presenta a una de los días del trabajo y
vamos a buscar el trabajo para usted.
Contadores de Dinero
Nuestros equipos de contadores de dinero cumplen un papel vital en las operaciones de la parroquia.
Los contadores de dinero trabajan en equipos de 3 o 4 y suelen servir una vez cada 3 o 4 semanas.
Los equipos se reúnen los domingos por la mañana y por la tarde y el lunes por la mañana. Hay
equipos cuyo idioma de trabajo es inglés y otros cuyo idioma es español, así que todo puede servir.
En este momento, necesitamos especialmente los que puedan servir el lunes and en los equipos que

Coordinadores de bodas, quinceañeras, y funerales
Los coordinadores les ayudan a las familias con la planificación de estas liturgias significativas y
proporcionan el liderazgo en este día. Ellos también le ayudan al sacerdote o diácono en la liturgia.
Los coordinadores sirven cuando existe la necesidad, usualmente no más que una vez o dos veces al
mes. Se proporcionará instrucción y materiales para la planificación, así como la oportunidad de
trabajar junto con una Coordinadora con experiencia.
Oficina Parroquial
Necesitamos voluntarios (mayores de 18 años) para ayudar en la Oficina Parroquial, como
recepcionistas por la noche o los fines de semana, para notar datos y archivar, para ayudar con la
publicación del boletín y el mantenimiento de la página web de la parroquia. La mayor parte de
estos puestos de voluntarios requieren un compromiso de 2-3 horas por día o por la noche según un
horario regular.
Ministerio Social
Nuestros vecinos de la comunidad tienen tantas necesidades urgentes. Necesitamos Ministros que
puedan trabajar para atender a estas necesidades. Por favor, considera trabajar en la Oficina del
Ministerio Social para dar saludo a los que vienen en busca de ayuda, para contestar el teléfono o
proporcionar referencias a otros recursos. Es posible que desees trabajar en la despensa, la
clasificación y la distribución de alimentos a los hambrientos, o en los Proyectos Especiales. Se
ofrece enseñanza y el Ministerio es bilingüe.
Cantores y coros
¿Tiene usted un amor por la música? Comparta su amor y sus talentos dados por Dios con la
comunidad reunida para la Misa. Necesitamos cantores en todas las Misas y pianistas quiénes
puedan acompañarlos. En particular nos gustaría formar un conjunto de guitarras para tocar en las
misas en español y coros dedicados para funerales y bautizos.
