To use Quia, you simply type in the Quia link below in the box, and enter your first name and last name when asked. YOU DO NOT NEED A USERNAME OR PASSWORD. When you miss a question on Quia, you can immediately answer it again. Select the dropdown menu at the top of the question box next to Go to, highlight and click the question you just missed, and click Go. Keep trying until you get it right. If there is one you truly cannot figure out, don’t worry—you need 80% of the questions to earn credit for each assignment. June - 1. Regular –AR, - ER and –IR Verbs (pages 2 of this packet) 2. BE CAREFUL TO LOOK AT THE INFINTIVE ENDING AND ADD THE PROPER ENDINGS TO THESE VERBS. Study the following stemchanging verbs: e>ie cerrar cierro cierras cierra – to close cerramos cerráis cierran o>ue volver – to return vuelvo volvemos vuelves volvéis vuelve vuelven e>i Other e>ie verbs comenzar – to begin empezar – to begin entender – to understand merendar – to snack pensar – to think perder – to lose preferir – to prefer querer – to want Other verbs like volver almorzar – to eat lunch contar – to count / tell costar – to cost recordar – to remember dormir – to sleep *jugar – to play encontrar – to find (*u-ue) poder – to be able to devolver – to return (an object) Other verbs like pedir pedir – to order / ask for pido pedimos pides pedís pide piden repetir – to repeat servir – to serve JULY ASSIGNMENT #1 – IRREGULAR VERBS VERBS WITH AN IRREGULAR YO FORM These verbs have an irregular yo form that you have to MEMORIZE. All the other forms of these verbs are regular. caer – to fall caigo caemos caes caéis ce caen Other verbs with irregular forms conocer / conozco – to know a person dar / doy – to give hacer / hago – to do / make poner / pongo – to put saber / sé – to know a fact salir / salgo – to leave traer / traigo – to bring ver / veo – to see VERBS WITH AN IRREGULAR FORM AND A STEM CHANGE These verbs have an irregular yo form that you have to memorize and a stem change in the tú, él (ella, usted) and ellos (ellas, ustedes) forms. decir – to digo dices dice say/tell (e>i) decimos decís dicen Other verbs with irregular yo and a stem change tener/tengo (e>ie) – to have venir/vengo (e>ie) – to come seguir/sigo (e>i) – to follow OTHER IRREGULAR VERBS You have to MEMORIZE the forms of these verbs. They are used often. ser – to be soy somos eres sois es son ir – to go voy vamos vas vais va van estar – to be estoy estamos estás estáis está están oír – to hear oigo oímos oyes oís oye oyen JULY ASSIGNMENT #2 – REVIEW OF ALL VERBS AUGUST ASSIGNMENT – ADJECTIVE AGREEMENT The final summer work assignment is to practice making adjectives AGREE with the nouns they describe. If the adjective ends in the letter –o, there are FOUR ways to make it agree: Masculine singular: altO Masculine plural: altOS Feminine singular: altA Feminine plural: altAS If the adjective ends in any other vowel, there are just TWO forms: Singular: paciente Examples: 1. El libro es rojo. 2. Los zapatos son pequeños. Plural: pacientes 3. La chica no es alta. 4. Mis ventanas son grandes.
