Este es el momento de darse cuenta de lo que Dios quiere para nuestras vidas, porque Dios
ha protegido temporalmente el espíritu en nuestros cuerpos para que podamos ser heraldos
de la gloria de Dios e irradiar en el mundo que nos rodea. Por supuesto, esta afirmación
suena más a un mensaje de Pascua, pero siempre deben ser conscientes y no deben tomar
concedido, que la realidad del mensaje de Pascua pertenece a todas las estaciones durante
todo el año; no es sólo un mensaje a la fiesta de temporada de Pascua en nuestro recorrido
de toda la vida. Como miembros bautizados de la iglesia y como mensajeros del amor de
Dios para toda la creación, somos conscientes de nuestra propia misión a los demás, si
nosotros no estamos atentos al mensaje de la resurrección, todavía es el momento para
comenzar a entender lo que todo significa. Sólo aquellos que no conocen de Dios y se alejan
de una posible relación con Él, realmente no entienden el significado completo de la vida
misma, mucho menos serían capaces de comprender la muerte y el más allá. Para nosotros,
como católicos hasta la muerte se convierte complicada, porque estamos tan
acostumbrados a vivir entre las cosas materiales que tenemos; pero para nosotros, vale la
pena ser católico cuando valoramos nuestra fe y comprendemos mejor que los que no tienen y rechazar cualquier
parte de la palabra de Dios en su totalidad. El fallecimiento de mi madre me enseñó mucho acerca de la muerte.
¡Qué mujer tan valiente! Para separarse de los que más amaba (sus hijos, su bienestar y su seguridad) no
significa para mí y para mis hermanos que termino odiándonos, pero nos enseñó el camino a seguir cuando
llegara el momento de una manera natural. Este es el momento cuando le agradezco sobre todo la fe que mi
mamá me dio a mí y a mis hermanos. Es una vida del espíritu que lucha con un lado humano y débil de la vida,
pero es un espíritu que nos enseña, a través de la fe, el verdadero sentido de la vida ya experimentado y aún por
vivir.
En su carta a Filemón, San Pablo se identifica como un anciano. En nuestra imaginación podemos formar el
perfil de un hombre anciano, Pablo, cansado en su cuerpo debido a todos los viajes, las dificultades, las
situaciones extremas y peligrosas. Se cree que escribió esta carta a Filemón en la cárcel durante su
encarcelamiento en Roma después de su tercer y último viaje por Asia menor. Viajó cientos de millas y su espíritu
no pudo mantener el cuerpo, por lo que decidió enviar a su querido compañero en la misión, Onésimo, quien
amaba y consideraba como su propio hijo, al pueblo de Asia menor. Con el apoyo de San Pablo, Onésimo fue
enviado a continuar la misión evangelizadora que San Pablo, junto a sus compañeros había iniciado. San Pablo,
en sus limitaciones físicas, sabía en su espíritu que la tarea por delante de él no iba a ser fácil ya que contemplaba
el martirio, pero impulsado por el Espíritu Santo por el Evangelio, él sufre una cruel y atroz muerte, la
decapitación. San Pablo entendió bien la relación del espíritu al mundo material y se conectó al espíritu de ser
guiado por la gracia divina a través de su fidelidad a la ley y la conversión. Como fariseo y maestro, amó como
una madre ama a sus hijos; fraternalmente se dirigió a las comunidades acerca de las preocupaciones derivadas
de tendencias hedonistas y materialistas, que las comunidades habían adoptado; y él disciplinaba como un
amoroso padre disciplina y corrige a sus pequeños hijos e hijas. ¡Que gran hombre de fe! Dio la bienvenida y
recibió el espíritu de Dios cuando Él se revelo en el camino de Damasco. Este es un gran ejemplo de un siervo fiel
del Señor que dejó todo por seguir al Señor Jesús. El Salmo de hoy nos recuerda de las grandes recompensas de
la fe cuando nos olvidamos de los intereses de este mundo finito "Haces que el hombre vuelva a ser polvo... Tú los
has barrido como un torrente, son como un sueño... Enséñanos a contar de tal modo nuestros días... Sácianos por
la mañana con tu misericordia, "(sal. 90: 3a, 5a, 12a, 14a). Sería fantástico si todos los seres humanos supiéramos
que estamos aquí en esta tierra con un único propósito y que estamos 'por un momento' con la vida que vivimos
en la tierra. Debe haber un esfuerzo en cada ser humano para dejar de aferrarse a las actitudes, a las personas y
las cosas materiales que nos rodean, por ser buenos de todos los dones de Dios y compartir para el bien de todos.
El odio del que Jesús se refiere, es la indiferencia ante el atractivo natural de las cosas del mundo, porque quiere
que nos enfoquemos más en las cosas del cielo. Él nos da el reto de mejorar nuestra relación con Él y dar gloria a
Dios por el bien que hacemos y reconocer nuestras carencias en una humilde disposición de corazón. Quiere que
todos nosotros rindamos nuestros intereses personales en este mundo material y a lo que se interpone entre la
relación ideal con Él. Cuán bendecidos somos si por lo menos luchamos con todo lo que nos impide ser
verdaderos seguidores de Cristo, porque este tipo de actitud hacia el Señor nos ayuda a ser mejores con el tiempo
mientras no perdamos la fe. Sabiduría lo dice bien este fin de semana: "pues un cuerpo corruptible agobia el
alma y esta tienda de tierra abruma el espíritu lleno de preocupaciones" Sab. Cap9. ¡Por lo tanto, mantengamos
la llamada del Señor en nuestras mentes y corazones!

This is the time to realize what God intends for our life, because God has temporarily
sheltered the spirit in our bodies so that we may become heralds of God’s glory and radiate
it in the world around us. Of course, this statement sounds more like an Easter message,
but we should always be mindful and should not take for granted that, the reality of the
Easter message belongs to all seasons throughout the year; it is not only a message confined
to the periodic Easter season celebration in our lifelong journey. As baptized members of
the Church and as messengers of God’s love for all creation, we are aware of our own
mission to others, if we are not tuned to the core message of the resurrection, then it is still
time to begin understanding what it all means. Only those who do not know God and walk
away from a possible relationship with Him, do not really understand the full meaning of
life itself, much less they would be able to comprehend death and the afterlife. For us, as
Catholics even death becomes cumbersome, because we are so accustomed to experience
life in the material things we hold on to; but for us, it pays off to be Catholic when we value
our faith and understand it better than those who do not have it and reject any part of the
word of God or its entirety. The passing away of my own mother taught me a great deal about death. What a
courageous woman! To detach herself from what she loved the most (her children, their wellbeing and security)
did not mean for me and my siblings that she ended up hating us, but taught us the way to follow when the time
comes in a natural way. This is the time when I am mostly grateful for the faith my mom passed on to me and my
siblings. It is a life of the spirit that struggles with a human and weak side of life, but it is a spirit that continues to
teach us, through faith, the real sense of life already experienced and yet to be lived.
In his Letter to Philemon, St. Paul identifies himself as an old man. We may form in our imagination the profile of
an old man, Paul, tired in his body because of all the traveling, hardships, extreme and perilous situations. He is
believed to have written this Letter to Philemon in jail during his imprisonment in Rome after his third and final
journey through Asia Minor. Hundreds of miles he traveled and his spirit cannot hold the body anymore as it
used to do, so he decided to send his beloved partner on the mission, Onesimus, whom he loved and consider as
his own son, to the people of Asia Minor. With St. Paul’s endorsement, Onesimus was sent to continue the
evangelizing mission that Paul, along with his companions had initiated. Paul, in his limitations of the body,
knows in his spirit that the task ahead of him was not going to be easy as he contemplates martyrdom, but driven
by the Holy Spirit for the sake of the Gospel message, he endures one of the most atrocious and cruel martyrdom
in life, beheading. St. Paul understood well the relationship of the spirit to the material world and grounded
himself in the spirit being led by divine grace through his faithfulness to the law and conversion. As a Pharisee
and teacher, he loved like a mother loves her children; he fraternally addressed the communities about the
concerns arising from hedonistic and materialistic tendencies the communities had adopted; and he disciplined
like a loving father disciplines and corrects his little sons and daughters. What a man of faith! He welcomed and
embraced the Spirit of God as He was revealed to him on the road to Damascus. What a great example of a
faithful servant of the Lord who turned around and left everything behind to follow the Lord Jesus. The Psalm of
the day reminds us of the great rewards of faith when we glance away from the interests of this finite world “You
turn men back to dust … You make an end of them in their sleep … Teach us to number our days aright … Fill
us at daybreak with your kindness” (Ps. 90: 3a,5a,12a,14a). It would be great if we, all humans, realize that we
are here on this earth for a sole purpose and that we are here just “for a moment” in the lifespan that we inhabit
the earth. There should be an effort in every human being to cease to hold on to attitudes, to people and material
things around us, by being good stewards of all God given gifts and sharing them for the common good.
The hate to which Jesus refers to, is the indifference to the natural appeal to the things of the world, because he
wants us to focus more on the things of heaven. He challenges us to better our relationship with Him and to give
glory to God by the good that we do and to recognize our shortcomings in a humble disposition of the heart. He
wants from all of us to surrender our personal interests in this material world and to let go of what stands
between the ideal relationship with Him. How blessed are we if we at least struggle with all that prevents us from
becoming true followers of Christ, because this type of attitude towards the Lord will help us become better with
time as long as we do not lose faith. Wisdom says it well this weekend: “For the corruptible body burdens the
soul, and the earthen shelter weighs down the mind that has many concerns”. Let us therefore keep in mind and
hearts the call of the Lord to follow Him close!

Teresa of Calcutta
Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, the nun
known to the world as Mother
Teresa of Calcutta, was born to
Albanian parents in what is now
Macedonia in 1910. As a Sister of
Loreto, she taught girls in her
order's mission schools in India for
twenty years. But in 1946, on a
train journey in the mountains, she
suddenly realized that God was calling her to
something more--to care for the poorest of the poor.
In the city of Calcutta, many homeless people lived
and died on the street. One day Sister Teresa came
across a half-dead woman lying in front of a hospital.
She stayed with the woman until she died. From that
time on, she dedicated herself to caring for the poorest
of the poor in India. She founded the Nirmal Hriday
("Pure Heart") Home for the Dying in a former
temple in Calcutta, where poor, homeless people were
cared for and allowed to die with dignity when no one
else would have them. She also founded an orphanage
and leprosy hospital.
Other young women, including some of her former
students, soon joined her in her work with the sick,
the poor, and the forgotten of Calcutta's slums. They
formed a new worldwide order of nuns, the
Missionaries of Charity. Like Mother Teresa, they
wear a plain white, blue-edged sari, the traditional
dress of Indian women. They live a simple, prayerful
life, and take care of people all over the world
wherever there is need.
Mother Teresa won several awards for her work,
including the Nobel Peace Prize. She always used the
money from such prizes to found new homes and
hospitals for poor people. She died in 1997 at the age
of 87. Her life and work remind us that happiness and
holiness come from doing "something beautiful for
God." She was beatified in 2003, and will be
canonized on Sunday, September 4, 2016.

Teresa de Calcuta

PREPARACION SACRAMENTAL
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
Reconciliation : 4:00 to 5:00 PM every Saturday.
Baptism: During pregnancy or after birth, parents are
expected to attend a Baptismal Preparation meeting held
on the first Sunday of the month at 12:30PM. Baptisms are
celebrated on the fourth Sunday of every month at
2:30PM. For information and registration for class and
Baptism times, please telephone the rectory 773-286-7871.
Marriage: For pre-marriage preparation and to assure
the wedding date you prefer, please call the Rectory at least
six months in advance before confirming a reception hall.
Communion, Confirmation and Conversion for Adults:
Please call the rectory for an appointment.
Communion, Confirmation and Conversion for
children:
Please call the Coordinator of Religious
Education. All children should be enrolled in R.E. 1st - 8th
grades.
Communion to the homebound: Please call the parish
office with information about those who are shut-ins or
sick so that visits may be made. In an emergency situation,
please call immediately at any hour.
Anointing of the Sick and Funerals: Please call the
rectory if your family member is sick and needs the
Anointing of the Sick, or when a family member dies, so
that the parish priests may minister to your needs and
assist you in planning the Funeral Liturgy. This includes
the Wake Service, the Eucharistic Liturgy and the final
commitment at the Cemetery.
Reconciliación: Cada Sabado a las 4:00PM.
Bautismos: Llamar a la Rectoría para registrarse y
señalar la fecha de la clase de preparación y la fecha de
Bautizo. Siempre celebramos el Bautismo el segundo
domingo de cada mes. La celebración de bautizos comienza
con la misa de la 1:00pm en español y termina después de
la misa. La clase de preparación se lleva a cabo el primer
sábado de cada mes a las 3:00 de la tarde, para padres y
padrinos en la Rectoría. No traer niños, por favor. Los
padrinos deben ser mayores de 16 años, católicos y haber
recibido los sacramentos del bautizo, confesión, comunión
y confirmación. Aquellos que viven en unión libre NO
pueden ser padrinos.
Matrimonios, Quinceañeras: Llamar a la Rectoría y
preguntar por el Padre Castillo seis meses antes de la
ceremonia para segurar la fecha que usted prefiere y antes
de contratar el lugar de recepción.
Comunión, Confirmación o Conversión para Adultos:
Llamar a la Rectoría.
Comunión, Reconciliación o Confirmación para
Niños: Llamar a la Rectoría para registrarse en las clases
de Educación Religiosa. Todos los niños deben asistir a
clases desde el primer grado hasta el octavo grado.
Entierros: Llamar a la Rectoría.
Presentación: Se realizará el primer domingo de cada
mes, cuando el niño cumpla los cuarenta días o tres años
de edad Llamar a la Rectoría para registrarse una semana
antes.
