We want to start with thanking all of our amazing parishioners here at St Charles for the extraordinary outpouring of food
over this past Memorial Day weekend! It was truly a blessing to receive such an abundance of food! Thank You!! We also
want to congratulate 2 of our outstanding 8th Grade students who each received $750 scholarships to area Catholic High
Schools for writing the best essays in our recent contest on The Importance of a Catholic Education. Kudos to Cynthia
Vasquez and Isi Eke for your insightful essays on why you value a Catholic education. Good luck to both of you in the
coming years! We also want to thank the numerous 8th grade students who assisted with our Monday morning food
distribution program over this past school year. They provided an invaluable service for those in need with compassion and

School News—Happy Summer and many blessings to all children and their families as they head into summer
vacation. We praise God in thanksgiving for the abundance of gifts we have received from his bounty of Catholic
education. We thank our priests and pastor for all their love and support! We pray for the safety and health of children
throughout summer. May all enjoy a well-deserved break. We pray especially for the gifts of our departing teachers, Ms.
Kathleen Menton and Mr. Ian Corbett. May the light they have shared with us continue to grace all the students and families
they will meet in their new schools.
The summer hours for the school office are Monday -Thursday, 9am -2pm; closed Fridays.
Virtual World Youth Day 2016
All youth can be World Youth Day pilgrims, even if you’re not going to Poland! We invite all High School teens to join us
for the diocesan celebration of World Youth Day, Saturday, July 30 – Sunday July 31, 2016 in Colfax, CA. The overnight
will include Mass and Adoration, live music, viewing World Youth Day events from Poland and a live feed from Poland
with Bishop Soto. Camp out under the stars or stay in the dorms. Space is limited. Cost is $30. and includes dinner and

“Let Us Pray” - Summer School on Worship & Prayer, Wednesday Evenings 7-8 PM
Six classes starting June 15th at the Pastoral Center, 2110 Broadway, Sacramento. Personal and private devotion are
intimately connected to the formal, public liturgies of the church, especially the Mass. The goal of the series is to enrich
both your understanding of liturgy and the Mass, and deepen your prayer life at the same time. The course will draw on

Monte Latino, Parish Outreach Manager from the Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services of the Diocese of Sacramento will

Catholic Faith Formation (CFF) English 2016/17
Registration is now going on for Catechism in June, August and 1 st week of September, 2016. There is No Registration in
July. Registration fee is $80.00. Please bring a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate if baptized for a new student.
Classes will start on September 10, Saturday. Regular class hours on Saturdays for Grades K-6 9:00-10:15 a.m., First
Communion Classes, Gr. 7 and Pre-Confirmation 8:30-10:15 a.m., Gr. 8/Confirmation Class 8:00-10:15 a.m. Office Hours:

Sacramento Catholic Forum presents Deacon Joe
Symkowick (of the Newman Center at Sacramento State Univ.)
Catholic Relief Services and the Corporal Works of Mercy in
the Year of Mercy Deacon Joe will speak on the preferential
love for those oppressed by poverty. These are the people who
are at the heart of the work of Catholic Relief Services
(CRS). CRS has been reaching out to the poor and broken on
behalf of the Catholic Church in the United States for more than
70 years. When: Thursday, June 16, 2016, check in 11:30 am,
