Le Maitre or its agents that every pyrotechnic device will perform the same.
This must be borne in mind when siting devices.
Le Maitre pyrotechnics must only be used in conjunction with Le Maitre firing systems or Le Maitre approved devices.
Any approved device will have written approval from Le Maitre. No liability of any sort will be entertained by Le Maitre
where pyrotechnics are used with an unapproved firing system.
We are often asked what is a safe distance from an effect, or what is the safe working height. As every situation is different
it is impossible to give any definitive solution. What is required is a profound knowledge of the product being used, matched
with a proper risk assessment. If the product is new to the user it should be observed in a safe outdoor location so that
the effect can be fully ascertained before being used indoors.

PyroFlash or ProStage II?
Le Maitre manufactures two ranges of stage pyrotechnics.
- The first range is PyroFlash. This is the system with plug-in cartridges. The PyroFlash system is a simple Plug and Play
system for semi-pro users. Le Maitre's patented Pyroflash system has been regarded as the safest in the industry since
its conception more than twenty five years ago.
- The second range is ProStage II. ProStage II is our professional range of pyrotechnics. ProStage II pyrotechnics do not
plug into our PyroFlash pods; instead the effects have wires for connecting to pyro circuits. Our ProStage II
pyrotechnics were developed using modern day techniques.

PyroFlash is the system with plug-in cartridges. The PyroFlash system is a simple Plug and Play system for semi-pro users.

Golden Star
Coliseum Adaptor
A mushroom cloud of smoke with thousands of
tiny golden stars. It has less of a flash than the
Silverstar, so it is ideal for a more subtle effect
in low ambient light or for TV cameras.
A metal collar designed to fit over a Silverstar
or Coloured Star cartridge in the standard flash
pod.
It changes the shape of the Silverstar,
projecting it into a column of tiny silver stars.

Our new smokeless projection cartridges are now in a longer, thinner tube, which allows greater projection of the contents.
All of these new devices still utilise our Variable Angle Pod (1103), but do require an additional piece of hardware, the Fixing Clamp (1110) that
prevents the device from being projected from the pod as it uses a pinned base.
Confetti Cartridges
These replace the old style PyroFlash and ProStage II Confetti Cartridges; that is, 1232 and 1232B (PyroFlash range) and 1515 and 1516
(ProStage II range).

ProStage II must only be used with firing systems that are either designed for the purpose by the company, or have written approval
from the company. No liability of any sort will be processed where ProStage II has been used with unapproved firing systems.
ProStage II Stage Gerbs
The ProStage II range of professional Stage Gerbs are identified by
the burn time in seconds (first number) x the height in feet
(second number).
For example: a 1/4 x 20 is a gerb of 1/4 of a second
duration that reaches a height of 20ft.
Heights are also given in metres.
ProStage II has probably the largest list of stock stage gerbs of any manufacturer.
Most items will be off the shelf, but some will be subject to minimum order
quantities and lead times.
All our Stage Gerbs are boxed in 10s.
Most Stage Gerbs are also available in bulk quantities of 250, with igniters.
Only 1/4 x 6 to 1 x 25 Stage Gerbs are fitted with igniters.

Waterfalls
Waterfalls are a speciality of ProStage II. These are specific Waterfall effects and should not be
confused with upside down Gerbs or a typical firework waterfall stick.
Traditionally there have been two types of waterfall: an inverted gerb giving a rushing effect, or
the archetypal waterfall with a large choke producing a liquid water effect but with a huge amount
of very hot fallout hitting the floor.
ProStage II Waterfalls use a new type of choke that gives the best of both effects without the tubes
catching fire. A gentle Waterfall effect which is much cleaner than traditional waterfalls.
Please note that the red caps are no longer fitted or supplied with our Waterfalls. If required, these can be sent out
at no additional charge AT THE TIME OF PLACING THE ORDER. However, should these red caps be needed without the
Waterfalls, they are available to purchase.

Silver Cascades
Our silver cascades are similar to our waterfalls but the whole effect is denser. They only need to
be positioned 7.5 cm apart to create a much fuller effect than our waterfalls.
Our silver cascades are therefore a cheaper option, as you don't need as many as when using our
waterfalls. Much fuller effect which looks similar to an inverted Gerb.

These 1.5 inch Gerbs produce a dramatic spray
of sparks to a height of approximately

These 1 inch Gerbs produce a dramatic spray of

4oz and 8oz Gerbs are the largest of the Stage
Gerbs in the ProStage II range. The plume of
sparks is wider than that of normal gerbs,
producing more of a Christmas Tree shape. This
means that there will be hot fallout associated
with these effects and they are recommended
for use in large venues only.

tight formation and have much brigher colours than our Stage Mines.
The 20ft and 25/30ft Mines all extinguish simultaneously and hold their
shape for the entire duration of the effect.

tube that has a split along its length covered by a thin paper membrane.

Robotics
Gunflash
Also known as Electric Fault Simulators,
Robotics are used in film and TV to reproduce
electrical faults in fuse boxes and other
equipment.
A small flash is followed by a shower of silver
sparks.
Used to create a realistic simulation of a gun
being fired when inserted into the barrel.
A small orange flash, a silver spark and a little
smoke.
Available in small, medium or large to suit the
application.

"Smoking Pants" device.
It's a 50mm long tube, about 17mm diameter, has a fitted igniter and, when fired, produces a stream

ProStage II Flames have been used on productions such as The Phantom of the Opera and huge tours like The Rolling Stones, and more

ProStage II has led in the production of ready to use

Airbursts come both singly or in a three drop

Line Rockets
Also known as Grid Rockets, the Line Rockets are small whistling rockets
that run along a steel cable. The cable must be securely fastened at each
end, and is usually up to 50 metres in length.
The Line Rocket is attached to the line by a plastic tube and takes between
2 and 4 seconds to travel the 50 metres.

Flame Gel
Le Maitre’s Flame Gel is a flammable gel that
can be applied to surfaces. It burns with an
even orange flame and a small amount of gel
burns for a surprisingly long time. The gel
has the consistency of thick custard and
looks similar to wallpaper paste which
makes it virtually invisible when applied.
The gel can be used anywhere a small controllable flame is needed. It is safe for use

Electric Air Cannon

Stadium Hazer
The Le Maitre Stadium Hazer is a revolutionary new concept in the manufacture and delivery of vast volumes of non-toxic haze.
It is generally accepted that oil haze leaves deposits and water/glycol haze is ineffective and expensive on consumables. The Stadium Hazer
allows huge amounts of haze to be delivered without the problems of oily deposits, and with cost effective, non-toxic consumables.

The Dragons
Le Maitre is the official European dealer for The Dragons, the amazing gas system designed and manufactured by Pyrotek in Canada.
The Dragons is a propane gas system that has been successfully used at indoor concerts all around the world. Each unit is able to fire a column
of flame up to 15 metres.
Each unit operates a maximum of two flame heads. If more flame heads are required, more Dragon units are needed. The heads can also be
replaced with other effects, such as Dragon tails that create a wall of fire rather than a single column.
The control method is DMX. This means that sophisticated controllers are relatively inexpensive and readily available all around the world.
There is a very specific routine that needs to be run prior to firing the Dragons, so short incorrect dmx bursts will not accidentally trigger the
flame. Because each unit is analogue and requires no specific boot time or routine, it is possible to attach the power supply for the Dragons
to a “dead man’s switch” for maximum security.
There are two versions of the Dragons available: one has a 60lb accumulator and the other has a 100lb accumulator. Obviously the 100lb is
better because it can supply a sustained large burst for longer.
The Dragons can produce a spectacular flame effect of up to 40ft in height. This system has been used successfully throughout the USA and
on many tours in Europe and the UK, including Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Britney Spears and more recently Take That.
They can be hired with an operator for indoor and outdoor venues, or can be purchased in Europe only exclusively through Le Maitre for tours
or permanent installations.
Also available are Dragon tails which create a wall of flame.

Fake Flame™
The Fake Flame™ is a patented product designed by Back Stage
Technologies Europe (BSTE), and built by Le Maitre Ltd.
The Fake Flame™ creates the illusion of real gas flames, but uses
absolutely no flammable products! It works by projecting coloured
light onto a swirling screen of vapour in order to create a very
realistic artificial flame. It is the nature of the swirling vapour
which will determine just how visually effective this is.
The system was designed for use in theatres and theme parks as
well as on concerts and in nightclubs where a flame effect is
desired but it is deemed simply too dangerous or just not practical
to use real gas.

Far better than silk flames and cost effective to run (with 2.5 litres of haze fluid giving 60 to 80 hours of continuous operation),
this system is ideal for fixed installations as well as touring and hire work.
The system creates a linear fire effect of 1.2m wide. The effect reaches the very edge of the unit, so multiple units can be placed side-by-side
to create as wide an effect as desired.
The flame effect is best viewed against a black or dark background and with the vapour screen strip at or just above eye level.
The Fake Flame system does not produce the most realistic effect in areas where air movement is present. The best results are achieved in
completely still environments.
Each Fake Flame™ module weighs about 70kg and is constructed from epoxy powder-coated steel with a matt black finish (so it will withstand
touring).

The Fire Chameleon system does not use a gas supply to create its
dramatic flame effects and is, therefore, considerably safer than some
propane gas systems that are currently in the market place.
The Fire Chameleon uses Mini Mist-sized canisters of fuel which simply
screw into the Fire Chameleon module in the same way as a can of
smoke fluid screws into a Mini Mist smoke machine.
The canister contains everything the system needs, i.e. the fuel,
the propellant and the colouring agents.
There is a choice of colours available: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange,
Pink and Purple.
Each Fire Chameleon module will accept up to four canisters at one time and these will be selectable via DMX allowing the operator to choose
any one of the four coloured flames they desire.
Other systems currently in the market place enable you to select colours in this way, but the Fire Chameleon also allows you to
mix the colours, so the operator, for example, could select Green or Red or both Green and Red to give Yellow.
The operator can also increase the operational time of each module by inserting four of the same colour canisters into each machine and in
this way, when one can is empty, they simply select the second (via DMX), and then the 3rd and so on - and the show goes on!

Megatron
The Megatron is a very high powered, liquid nitrogen, fog cannon. Capable of engulfing an entire dance floor with freezing fog in just a few
seconds, these cryogenic cannons are the ultimate nightclub effect. Blasting up to 6 cubic metres of fog per second from its 35mm diameter
nozzle, the megatron uses liquid nitrogen at -198°C to create its awesome effect.
These cryogenic fog cannons first started out in the clubs of Ibiza and Miami, but have now been installed in super clubs all over the world
from the UK to Russia.
The effect is primarily intended for nightclubs but can also be used to mask scene changes, simulate smoke as in the blast from a rocket takingoff or as an icy finale to an attraction or show.
A loud roar also accompanies the effect as the system blasts up to 50 litres of liquid nitrogen per second into the atmosphere.
A recent development is the conversion of the system from Liquid Nitrogen to Liquid Air which eliminates any need for oxygen depletion
monitoring and means the effect can be used as much or as little as required with no adverse effects on health or worries about respiratory
problems.
The Megatron comes in two standard sizes, although systems can be designed and built to suit any size venue and with any number of effect
heads.

Liquid Fire
Liquid Fire is a dancing, outdoor, fire effect.
Made up from multiple effect heads, each capable of firing a streamer of fire 8m into the air, the
Liquid Fire system is an ideal accompaniment to firework displays, as a substitute for dancing
water fountains or for a dramatic show in its own right.

CO2 Jet
The CO2 Jet is a simple, instant, effect which has been designed for maximum impact on a smaller scale than our TerraFog or Megatron fog
products.
The CO2 Jet, as the name suggests, runs on liquid carbon dioxide and creates a blast of cold white fog between 2 and 4 metres in length
(depending on gas pressure and ambient conditions).
The CO2 Jet is fully DMX512 compatible with DMX “in” and “link”.

TerraFog™
TerraFog™ is a patented design and was brought about by a desire from the nightclub market to have a high powered smoke effect to simulate
the large liquid nitrogen fog cannons seen in some of the super clubs of Ibiza and Florida but at a fraction of the cost!
TerraFog™ uses one or two Le Maitre G300 smoke machines (not supplied) to give a visual effect. It also uses carbon dioxide for the cooling
effect, compressed air or nitrogen for the pneumatics and special fog fluid to ensure the effect disappears quickly.
The combination of these things gives a very large blast of cold fog that can be blasted upwards, down on to the audience or across a stage

Freezefog Pro
The Freezefog Pro is used in conjunction with a Le Maitre Freezefog enabled smoke machine,
such as the G300 or Speedfogger Pro, to produce an extremely powerful dry ice effect.
The smoke machine pumps a specially formulated low smoke fluid into the Freezefog unit
where it combines with either high or low pressure liquid CO2 from a remote mini tank dewar.
The effect is long lasting and residue free, remaining low lying and very cold. A particularly
popular effect with West End shows and film or TV productions, the Freezefog Pro is ideal for
large venues and outdoor use.

We, at Le Maitre, pride ourselves on providing top quality products. Our smoke fluids are made from a sugar and water based mix and
are therefore extremely safe and residue-free.
We strongly recommend you to use our branded smoke and haze fluids with our machines,

Le Maitre’s Events consists of a team of people dedicated to design, augment and deliver any type of special effects; from a one-off product
launch using a pyrotechnic display to a year long Rock 'n' Roll tour. After taking an initial enquiry from a customer, this division specialises in
organising a pyrotechnics show that is totally customised and individual in its concept, design and implementation.
Events prides itself on being a truly unique set up, with a remit ranging from plain and simple advice to organising the logistics of a global tour.
Le Maitre’s team of experienced designers and pyrotechnicians are always on hand to offer advice for the smallest show to the largest extravaganza. They can design and fire numerous shows for Rock ‘n’ Roll tours (Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Meat Loaf...), corporate launches,
musicals (Spamalot, Grease, Never Forget...), television and films.
Our products are shown on all Award ceremonies for pop artists, including the MTV, the MOBO, the BRIT Awards and the Eurovision Song
Contest, for live and television audiences.
Our Outdoor displays range from such contracts as The Edinburgh Festival, the Winter Olympics to the G8 Summit display, which was fired
from the roof of Buckingham Palace in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and the world’s great leaders.

Le Maitre’s Events has the largest stock of turbo confetti blowers in Europe. The confetti blowers, manufactured by Pyrotek in Canada, are
available for both hire and sale. These ‘Venturi’ cannons are high altitude, high capacity blowers which can fire up to 20kg of confetti to a height
of approximately 60 metres and run on a continuous feed.
Also available from the Events Team are Cryo Jets: a high powered, DMX controlled CO2 system which can fire jets up to 4 metres high.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a license to buy and operate pyrotechnics?
No, it is however an offence to supply fireworks or pyrotechnics to anyone under the age of 18.
Does Le Maitre run training courses?
Le Maitre recommends the course by Lincoln Parkhouse, which is independently run. Details of courses can be found on the Association of
Stage Pyrotechnicians website at www.stage-pyro.org.uk
Can I order directly from you?
No, we operate a worldwide distributor network. The chances are we will have a distributor in your neighbourhood. Please contact our Sales

Do I need a license to store pyrotechnics?
Possibly. You should check with your local trading standards department. The information you will need is the hazard type (usually 4), the Net
Explosive Quantity (this can be found on the side of the shipping box as NEQ or NEC) of the pyrotechnics you will be storing. You may also need
to know the UN Numbers for pyrotechnics; these are 0432 for 1.4s and 0431 for 1.4g. The laws regarding the storage of explosives changed in
2005, you should check the new MSER regulations to ensure you comply. Below is a brief “in a nutshell” version of how MSER affects
pyrotechnic users.
- You can store up to 5kg of Explosives from Hazard Type 4 without a license.
- You can store up to 100kg of Hazard Type 3/4 for less than three days.
- Pyrotechnics should no longer be stored in locked metal boxes or cabinets, instead they should remain in the outer shipping box as
this box has been approved to United Nations standards
Please note that these weights only apply to the explosive content and not the gross weight. Explosive weights can be found on the MSDS Sheets
(on our website) or on the brown delivery box (NEC or NEQ mark).

How do I dispose of old pyrotechnics?
For small amounts of pyro (except Plastic maroons and Microdets) you have two options:
- You can attempt to fire the device outside at a safe distance.
- You can immerse the device in a bucket of water for 24 hours. You should pierce any paper tops so that the water can easily
permeate the device.
If you have a large amount of old pyro, we operate a free disposal service. Please call 020 8646 2222 to arrange a pickup.
If you have Plastic Maroons and Microdets to dispose of, you should first attempt to fire them in a bomb tank outside at a safe distance. If this
is not possible, they will have to be sent back to us for disposal. You will need the correct box and labels and use a courier service that will
accept 1.4G shipments. Please contact us for details. We can arrange a pickup service, but we may have to make a charge for this service.
Alternatively you can bring any old pyrotechnics to either our London factory or our Peterborough factory for disposal.
Where can I find the Safety Distances for your products?
We stopped giving our products safety distances back in 2000. There were lots of reasons for us doing this. The main reason was that many
operators are using pyro at angles and sometimes even upside down. If we were to give a safety distance and someone got hurt, we could be
liable. Instead of issuing safety distances, we now recommend that you fire the effect in controlled conditions outside to familiarise yourself
with the effect. You can then implement any safety distances yourself and document them in your risk assessment.
Are all products from stock?
Most of them are. However, at busy periods, such as Christmas, our stock can become depleted quite quickly. We hold a large amount of the
most popular stock at our Mitcham factory. We can send out shipments to our distributors on a next day delivery service if we receive the
order before 3pm (UK time). We can also arrange same day vans to most of the country at additional cost. If your distributor does not have a
product in stock, they can request that the shipment goes directly to you. We have a regular van run each week from our factory in
Peterborough. These are usually on Tuesday or Wednesday. All UK Shipments can only leave via our Mitcham office (unless you want to collect
from Peterborough).
