The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(R.C.I.A.) is scheduled to begin on Wednesday,
September 14. R.C.I.A. is a six-month program
that prepares prospective Catholics for full
membership in the Catholic Church at the Easter
Vigil. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming
Catholic, please call Fr. Larry at 327-2341 to sign up for the
R.C.I.A. program or to inquire about more information. The
deadline for faith formation registration is Monday, August 1.
Registration forms are available in the office or on the parish
website. Many thanks to Stewardship committee members Jody
Blake and Nan Lacy for placing the quote from Psalm 116:12 on
the wall across from the vesting sacristy. The Stewardship
Committee will soon add framed photographs to accompany the
quote. Bob Conklin has resigned as head of the Stewardship
Committee. We wish him, and his wife Colleen, the best of God’s
grace as they pursue an employment opportunity out of state. I will
be attending an Applied Biblical Studies conference at
Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio with Scott Hahn this
coming week.
– Sincerely Yours in Christ Fr. Larry

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT
Jesus is describing God’s immeasurable generosity when He says
in today’s Gospel, “Whoever asks, receives; whoever seeks, finds;
whoever knocks, is admitted.” But it should also be the description
17TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
of us as Christian stewards - those seeking to follow Christ by using
our gifts in service to others.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
PLEASE NOTE:
There will be a Communion Service this
Monday, July 25th in lieu of Mass. The time and location will be

ROSARY MAKERS SUPPLIES
Did you know that St. Aloysius Church has a
new rosary guild and you are cordially
invited to become a part of this group? Our
Lady’s Rosary Guild meets each Friday from
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Holy Family Hall. They
are currently in need of beads, cord and crucifix medals you no
longer need. Costume jewelry, beads, old necklaces, medals,
crosses and bolts of cord could be recycled and brought back to life
by our talented Rosary Makers. A box located on the table across
from the restrooms marked ROSARY MAKERS will be left there for
you to donate your jewelry-making supplies. Broken Rosary
donations are also needed! And, as always, thank you for your
treasures that will provide a healing comfort to those in need.
Please call Debbie Vanover at 704-438-4601 for details about this
ministry.
However, there is a higher power. Who can tell me what it is?” Little
Tommy blurted out, “I know, I know, Aces!”
XVII DOMINGO ORDINARIO
Dios nos da pan, no piedras.
Demos gracias y alabemos a Dios con alegría.
~ Stewardship ~

It’s not too soon to start collecting flip flops! Walmart has had
some for just $1.00 for some time now. However, this year we are
going to do something a little different. We only need them for
adults. Plus, we are adding another item. There is a great need
for MODEST packaged underwear for all ages in all sizes for both
male and female. Please don't bring the items to church until the
drive is announced next month. Many thanks in advance for your
help. Questions? Call Evelyn Walz at 328-3323.

Altar flowers this weekend are donated by the Croce and Stuckey
families in loving memory of Michael Croce and Thomasina Croce.

FOR FAITH FORMATION
Registration for the 2016-2017 Faith Formation
year is currently taking place. All Faith Formation families
need to be registered members of St. Aloysius Church
prior to the time of registration. As in previous years,
registration will be on a first-come, first served basis
and are due no later than August 1st. Payment should
accompany your registration form.
Because of the
additional cost of shipping books and supplies after
August 1st, a late fee will be assessed for any registrations
received after the August 1st deadline. Registration forms
are available at the parish office.
Note: No child will be refused for financial
reasons. If you are unable to pay at this time, please call
the Faith Formation Office. Do not wait until August 1st.
Due to continuing space issues, new Faith
Formation families must reside within Hickory,
Bethlehem or Granite Falls and be registered
parishioners of St. Aloysius Church.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
St. Aloysius will again be offering “Catechesis of the Good
Shepherd” for our young parishioners from ages 3 to 6. These
sessions will meet on Tuesday afternoons next year from 1:00 to
2:30 and will follow the Faith Formation schedule. Space is limited
to 15 children and registration will be done on a first come, first
served basis. If you would like to register your child, please
use the Faith Formation registration form and write in
“Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.”
R.C.I.A. or
“How Does One Become a Catholic”?
Many Catholics are born into Catholic families and gradually
come to share in the full sacramental life of the Church. Others,
who have been previously baptized in a non-Catholic Christian
Church, have become Catholics after participating in a
formation process that leads to a profession of faith and the
celebration of the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
And some, never baptized, are initiated through a formation
process that leads to the celebrations of Baptism, Confirmation
and Eucharist. All sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil
celebrated by the Catholic community. The Catholic Church
warmly welcomes new members and tries to provide an
atmosphere of spiritual formation according to each person's
needs. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the
Church's way of initiating new members. Our new year of
R.C.I.A. sessions will begin on Wednesday, September 14. We
meet from 7:00 to 8:15 PM in the Parlor. If interested, or if you
have any questions, please call Monica Ebelhack at the parish
office – 828-327-2341 or email: [email protected]
.
