Holy Fire Unbound Prayer Ministry at St. Mary’s in
This week we proclaim our commitment to Respect
Life from conception to natural death. As pro-life
people we are called to chaste love, responsible
parenthood, quality child care and education, safeguarding children from abuse, ending human trafficking, quality end of life care, and abolishing the
death penalty.
Next week, we will celebrate World Mission Sunday. Its theme this year is “Mercy Changes the
World.” Pope Francis invites the entire Church to
support the young mission dioceses in Africa, Asia,
the Pacific Island, and parts of Latin America and
Europe, where priests, religious and lay leaders serve
some of the poorest of the poor. Please keep the
Missions in your prayers and be generous in next
week’s collection for the Society of the Propagation
of the Faith.
Our annual parish calendars are purchased from
Catholic Extension, a rural mission outreach program here in the U.S.A. They continue to provide
assistance for small, fledgling Catholic communities
that are emerging in areas of historically very low
Catholic presence. Also the Congregation of St. Joseph has had a “mission box” in the vestibule for
some 20 years—ever since Fr. Angelo Zonta, CSJ,
left our parish to be the second member of the Congregation in India. We now have 21 young priests
from India and the money we send every so often
from that box goes a long way in India. The superior
there, Fr. Mariolino, hopes to stay with us a few days
in March in route to Mexico City for an Interprovincial Council Meeting.

Mission Bell Preschool
Learning how to use scissors plays an important role in
developing the fine motor skills our Mission Bell children
need in order to hold pencils and crayons. Having
strong fine motor skills will help them as they begin the
tricky process of learning how to write. It might sound
easy, but teaching young children how to cut with scissors is a very complex task. This is the order in which the
MBPS staff introduces cutting skills to both classes: Rip -Snip -- Fringe -- Straight lines -- Zig zag lines -- Curved
lines (circles, waves, hearts) -- Right angles (squares and
rectangles)
The opening and closing motion of cutting with scissors
helps children develop the small muscles in their hands
otherwise known as fine motor skills. These muscles are
crucial for holding a pencil or crayons and gripping and
manipulating objects.
Thank you God for our fine motor muscles that help us do
sooo many important tasks!

Inspiration 2016 (November 5) – It’s that time again!

“Inspiration 2016” at Six Flags Magic Mountain! High
school students may pick one up at any Life Night, or in
the vestibule of the church. Cost is $70 ($40 for annual
pass holders), including bus transportation. Tickets are

Attention All Adults: Are you willing to step up to be part
of our Life Teen mission to lead teens closer to Christ? If
so, you are invited to join one of our core teams as a small
group leader. A small group leader is someone who
comes to either each Life Night (high school) or Edge
Night (middle school), spending an hour-and-a-half helping teens break open the evening’s theme. You don’t
have to have any special skills, or be a theologian. You
just have to have a love of God and the Catholic Church,
and a heart for serving the young Church. If you feel God
is calling you to be part of this awesome ministry, please

For the benefit of the Parish Children, the Knights of Columbus
decorate the trunks of their cars and park them in the Church
Parking Lot so that Parish Children in (or out of) costume can
go “trick or treat”.

Sometimes adults may have a tendency to try and fix problems
that come up with their children. While the instinct to help and
the loving concern behind it is understandable, it is not always
the best course of action if the child is not learning something
about how to handle a problem at least partly on their own. For
some problems, children just need a good listener; for others
they need guidance and help discerning how best to respond.

Pro-Life Positions and the Death Penalty
According to Pope John Paul II, “New evangelization calls for followers of Christ who are unconditionally pro-life: who will proclaim, celebrate and
serve the Gospel of life in every situation. A sign of
hope is the increasing recognition that the dignity of
human life must never be taken away, even in the
case of someone who has done great evil.” (Mass,
St. Louis, MO, 1-27-99) The same protection for the
sanctity of human life talked about so often with
abortion extends to the death penalty. All souls, innocent or flawed, have intrinsic value, as we are all
created in God’s likeness and are precious in the
eyes of our Lord. The death penalty—which will be
repealed by Prop 62—destroys the opportunity for
redemption and the ability of God’s mercy to work

Nuestros calendarios anuales parroquiales se
