Christ the King Mission Statement
Our community serves the mission of Jesus Christ, to make disciples of all nations, welcoming them into the loving family of God. United in
the Eucharist and blessed by a diversity of gifts, we desire to give glory to God and to build His Kingdom "on earth as it is in Heaven".
Attention Ladies of the Diocese of
Phoenix! Did you know that you are
a member of the Phoenix Diocesan
Council of Catholic Women
(PDCCW)?
Come join us and learn more about your PDCCW!
We are holding our Annual Meeting on June 2,
2016, at 6:30 pm at the Diocesan Pastoral Center at
400 E. Monroe, Phoenix, 85004 in room 159.
At this meeting we will be holding our election for
the 3 Executive Board positions currently open:
1st Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary.
If you would like more information about the
PDCCW, are interested in running for one of the
open positions, or becoming involved in Council
activities, please contact us
at [email protected], or call Rhapsody
Canepa, Board President at (602) 568-5286.
Congratulations to the families with
children just receiving sacraments of
communion and confirmation this
weekend. The young people are on fire
with their faith! We invite
parents to consider Catholic
education at our very own
Christ the King Catholic
School. Every day, students in
Catholic Schools pray as they
learn the traditional subjects
found in every school.
Through religion classes, they
continue what you have
started in your home, and they
learn to see the world through
a Catholic lens. For more information about the
scholarships available and enrolling your child in
Catholic School, please contact the school office at
(480)844-4480 or visit the website at

COURTYARD RENOVATION
Please be patient as we transform
our courtyard into a beautiful
community gathering space. We are
sorry for any inconvenience. Enter
the church through the emergency
exits located north and south of the
Sanctuary off Hunt Street.
From Our Parochial Administrator...
The Courtyard Project Update
CTK has embarked on preparing a Master Plan for the ultimate
transformation of the church property into a spiritual campus worthy of
its Mission.
Our church has grown its mandate to better serve the congregation and
to reach out to welcome new members from within Arizona, other states,
and countries. To achieve this end, during the past 3 years, the congregation has met
several challenges to improve the building and its infrastructure, and to provide venues to
accommodate ever changing needs. For example:
• New confessionals
• Modernization of the sanctuary, including the transfer of the choir area from the north
to the south side, new wall and floor tiles, creation of arches, opening up the sanctuary
space and installing rails, creating a true narthex and redesigning the main entrances,
and providing more light to the church by installing glass interior walls.
• New Sanctuary hardware including a beautiful new paschal candle stand, sanctuary
lamp holder and altar candle holders.
To come:
• New altar, ambo, credence tables, presider and deacon chairs, altar server benches,
and double wide kneelers.
• New water feature in the narthex
The process of upgrading the church property is not yet complete. While these disparate
elements were all deserving of our attention, those that serve to bring the congregation
together in an informal social setting have been thus far ignored. It is time to fulfill our
vision for engagement with one another. It is time to bring our various communities
together and to provide the courtyard in which that communion of spirit can occur.
As of this writing, the project is about 30% complete. We expect to complete it by June 8,
2016. Pavers have been laid on the walkways. The walkways leading to the main entrance
of the church are given priority. The existing Shrine Memorial bricks are temporarily wellkept inside the open lot owned by the parish across Dana Avenue. They will be placed on
a walkway from the circular benches to the Wailing Wall. And if space would not be
enough for the existing Shrine Memorial bricks, we will integrate them to other walkways
together with the new pavers. Those who wish to buy Shrine Memorial bricks, should
come and visit our parish office or Welcome Center on weekends.
Please fully consider supporting this project as we move forward. Any amount including a
dollar that comes from the heart is greatly appreciated. Your generosity and love make a
big difference.
May the Lord bless and guide us with this important project.
God bless.

the Holy Spirit, a gift from God that is nurtured in
prayer. We hope that those who bring the cup
home will continue to pray daily for vocations. The
Vocation Chalice is available to be checked out for
up to two weeks. Sign up forms for the Vocation

Prayer of Mercy
Lord Jesus Christ,
You have taught us to be Merciful like the Heavenly Father.
Open my eyes to see your loving face, and my ears to hear your
words that I will be saved. You are the visible face of the merciful
and forgiving Father. Let everyone who comes to the Church and the
ministers feel sought after, loved and forgiven by God.
Grant that by the power of the Spirit I may become an apostle of
mercy and forgiveness to the weak and sinners through the
intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy.
Amen. (Adapted from Pope Francis’ Prayer for the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy)

Stepping forward keep us from just singing move us into action,

I am the Bread of Life.
All who eat this Bread will never die.
I am God's love revealed.
I am broken that you might be healed.
And the first shall be last, and our eyes are opened,
and we’ll hear like never before.
And we’ll speak in new ways, and we’ll see God’s face
in places we’ve never known.
All who eat of this heavenly Bread;
All who drink this cup of the covenant.
You will live forever for I will raise you up.
Open my heart, Lord. Help me to love like you.
Open my heart, Lord. Help me to love.
I live within You. Deep in Your heart, O Love.
I live within You. Rest now in me.
No one who comes to Me shall ever hunger again.
No one who believes shall ever thirst.
All that the Father draws shall come to Me;
And I will give them rest

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him
Who brings good news, good news,
Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness.
Our God reigns, our God reigns,
Our God reigns, our God reigns,
our God reigns, our God reigns.
He had no stately form He had no majesty That we
should be drawn to Him
He was despised And we took no account of Him
Yet now He reigns with the Most High
Out of the tomb He came with grace and majesty
He is alive He is alive
God loves us so see here His hands His feet His side
Yes we know He is alive

proyecto importante.
Padre Rolyn Francisco

Señor Jesucristo,
Tú nos has enseñado a ser
misericordiosos como el
Padre del cielo. Abre mis
ojos a tu rostro amoroso, y
mis oídos para oír tus
palabras que me salvarán. Tú
eres el rostro visible del
Padre misericordioso que
manifiesta su omnipotencia
con el perdón. Haz que
quien se acerque a la Iglesia
o a tus ministros se sienta
deseado, amado y
perdonado por Dios.
Concede que por el poder
del Espíritu me convierta en
un apóstol de misericordia y
perdón para los débiles y
pecadores por la intercesión
de María, Madre de la
Misericordia. Amen.
