WINTER 2012
LA Clippers vs. Utah Jazz Game
October 17, 2012
The Los Angeles Clippers have been very generous in offering Childhood Cancer
Foundation tickets to a couple of their home games at the Staples Center throughout the years. Visiting the Staples Center in itself is an amazing experience and all
of the families who participate have really enjoyed their family nights out to watch
the team.
In October we got to watch the Clippers face off the Utah Jazz team. The game was
very exciting! We all enjoyed our snacks and rooted on the Clippers hoping for a
victory.
Thank you to Donald Sterling and the Los Angeles Clippers for their support and
donations to Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California. Through their
donations, many of our families are being offered an opportunity to visit a place
that they might have never been able to visit. The games are always a lot of fun and
we hope to continue to offer this event to everyone.

Gracias a Donald Sterling y

structure. By the age of 20, one child or teen in 330 is diagnosed in the United States.
More children die of cancer than of any other disease, including asthma, diabetes, cystic

November 20, 2012
Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California has been very fortunate to be able to offer the Thanksgiving Basket program for families with special needs during the Thanksgiving season. Through the kind donations of various members in the
community we were able to offer over 80 Thanksgiving Baskets to families with a child currently receiving treatment for cancer.
Each basket contained all the fixings for a nice, traditional Thanksgiving dinner plus extra items for about a week’s worth of meals.
Every family was excited to join us at the CCFSC office to pick up their baskets of goodies. We greatly appreciate the continued
support and dedication to this program and would like to thank all of the donors who contributed of their time and finances to
put these baskets together.
Thank you to the San Bernardino Water Department, San Bernardino City Public Works, San Bernardino Animal Control, San
Bernardino Finance Department, San Bernardino Police Department, North Rialto Little League and Dominic Fuentes Our Hero

Christmas celebration
December 2, 2012
Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California was very
pleased to host the 31st Annual Christmas Celebration presented
by the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. There were
over 600 guests that included children and their parents. The Drayson Center was turned into a winter wonder land with decorations
in red and green. A large tree, graciously donated for this event for
the past several years from the Live Oak Canyon Christmas Tree Farm,
was decorated on the stage along with over 400 Christmas gifts.
Children and parents were busy making arts and crafts at the craft
tables. We would like to thank all of our craft table sponsors: Air Force
Security Forces, Alexis Victoria Salon & Spa, Brenda Ebrahim, California Correctional Peace Officers Association, CCFSC Board of Directors,
Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California, Elena Klopfer,
Hadaway Family & Friends, High Desert Magic 4H, Inland Center Mall,
Loma Linda Valley Kiwanis, National Charity League Sustainers, PJ’s
Pals, Riverside Church of Christ.
As the families received their meals they were able to enjoy entertainment by School of Arts Show Choir and Mariachi Trompetas de
México. We would like to thank all of the families for their provision of
chips and vegetables for the celebration and Domino’s Pizza for their
donation of 100 pizzas.
Following the entertainment, we received Santa as he delivered
wrapped gifts to over 300 children. The children and their families
had “family” portraits taken by Cyndee Pelton, a pediatric oncology
nurse.
Over 100 volunteers decorated the gym with balloons, Christmas
Trees, table decorations and more. They help with providing food to
attending families, gift distribution, and cleanup after the event. We
would like to thank all the volunteers that gave of their time to help
CCFSC provide a magical Christmas Wonderland for all of our families.
There are really too many people to thank for making this event special for the children and their families. But we do wish to recognize
the tremendous contribution of the use of the Drayson Center and
the support provided for this event by the California Correctional
Peace Officers Association, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians,
The Gas Company, South Coast Shingle Company Inc., Mark and Jo
Ann Wildermuth, Domino’s Pizza of Redlands, Drayson Center, Loma
Linda University Children’s Hospital, Loma Linda University Campus
Engineering, The Raincross Quilt Guild, and Zareh Sarrafian - Chief
Operating Officer LLUMC. Last, but definitely not least, we would like
to send a special thank you to Santa Claus, George Finkle, for spreading the Christmas cheer!

Navidad: Air Force Security Forces, Alexis Victoria Salon & Spa, Brenda
Ebrahim, California Correctional Peace Officers Association, CCFSC Board
of Directors, Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California, Elena
Klopfer, Hadaway Family & Friends, High Desert Magic 4H, Inland Center
Mall, Loma Linda Valley Kiwanis, National Charity League Sustainers, PJ’s
Pals, Riverside Church of Christ.
California Correctional Peace Officers Association, San Manuel Band of
Mission Indians, The Gas Company, South Coast Shingle Company Inc.,
Mark and Jo Ann Wildermuth, Domino’s Pizza of Redlands, Drayson Center, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, Loma Linda University
Campus Engineering, The Raincross Quilt Guild, and Zareh Sarrafian Chief Operating Officer LLUMC.

2013 CALENDAR UNVEILING PARTY
December 10, 2012
Childhood Cancer Foundation unveiled the 2013 “Seasons of Hope” Calendar on
December 10 at the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. The 2013 Calendar
features 12 beautiful child models pictured in scenes capturing the seasons of the
year. Although our models represent various seasons, they share a common bond:
cancer. Every three and a half minutes a parent hears the devastating news, “Your
child has cancer.” With these words, normal life stops and a difficult new journey begins; a journey that will test families physically, emotionally, socially, and financially.
The children and families we are so privileged to serve come from all corners of our
community and from all different backgrounds and circumstances, cancer knows no
race or economic status. The focus of the calendar is to highlight how all these children share a bond of Hope through every season. Featured in the cover shot is Firefighter/Paramedic Steve Moore with the San Manuel Fire Department and Kamila
Resendiz, age 3. San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has sponsored the production
of the calendar. Sponsors and donors also include: Johnny Jaquez Photography, Kissui Baby and Children Boutique, San Manuel Fire Department, Redlands Fire Department, Riley’s Farm, and Oak Hollow Farm.
The calendar is photographed by Johnny Jaquez from Johnny Jaquez Photography. – www.johnnyjaquezphotography.com. The calendar sales as well as our other
fundraisers help us to continue the much needed services we provide.

calendario. Patrocinadores y donantes también incluyen: Johnny Jaquez Photography, Kissui Baby and Children Boutique, Departamento de Bomberos de San Manuel
y Redlands, Riley’s Farm, y Oak Hollow Farm.

TEEN CONNECTION
Ice Town
November 3, 2012
Chaperones Kristin and Stephanie, along with the teens from
Teen Connection put their ice skating skills to the test at the
Ice Town Ice Rink in Riverside.
Before hitting the ice, we fueled up on yummy Mexican food
from Jose’s Restaurant. Once at the ice rink, we had fun weaving in and out of all the people there. There were a few hiccups, but everyone did pretty good! The trip was a lot of fun
and the group was awesome.
Thank you to our volunteer, Kristin, for joining us on this trip
and throughout the year!
