Newsletter Issue 14 WINTER 2012 LA Clippers vs. Utah Jazz Game October 17, 2012 The Los Angeles Clippers have been very generous in offering Childhood Cancer Foundation tickets to a couple of their home games at the Staples Center throughout the years. Visiting the Staples Center in itself is an amazing experience and all of the families who participate have really enjoyed their family nights out to watch the team. In October we got to watch the Clippers face off the Utah Jazz team. The game was very exciting! We all enjoyed our snacks and rooted on the Clippers hoping for a victory. Thank you to Donald Sterling and the Los Angeles Clippers for their support and donations to Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California. Through their donations, many of our families are being offered an opportunity to visit a place that they might have never been able to visit. The games are always a lot of fun and we hope to continue to offer this event to everyone. Children and parents were busy making arts and crafts at the craft tables. We would like to thank all of our craft table sponsors: Air Force Security Forces, Alexis Victoria Salon & Spa, Brenda Ebrahim, California Correctional Peace Officers Association, CCFSC Board of Directors, Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California, Elena Klopfer, Hadaway Family & Friends, High Desert Magic 4H, Inland Center Mall, Loma Linda Valley Kiwanis, National Charity League Sustainers, PJ’s Pals, Riverside Church of Christ. The 2013 Calendar features 12 beautiful child models pictured in scenes capturing the seasons of the year. Although our models represent various seasons, they share a common bond: cancer. Every three and a half minutes a parent hears the devastating news, “Your child has cancer.” With these words, normal life stops and a difficult new journey begins; a journey that will test families physically, emotionally, socially, and financially. The children and families we are so privileged to serve come from all corners of our community and from all different backgrounds and circumstances, cancer knows no race or economic status. The focus of the calendar is to highlight how all these children share a bond of Hope through every season. Featured in the cover shot is Firefighter/Paramedic Steve Moore with the San Manuel Fire Department and Kamila Resendiz, age 3. San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has sponsored the production of the calendar. Sponsors and donors also include: Johnny Jaquez Photography, Kissui Baby and Children Boutique, San Manuel Fire Department, Redlands Fire Department, Riley’s Farm, and Oak Hollow Farm. The calendar is photographed by Johnny Jaquez from Johnny Jaquez Photography. – www.johnnyjaquezphotography.com. The calendar sales as well as our other fundraisers help us to continue the much needed services we provide. Calendars are NOW AVAILABLE on-line at www.ccfsocal.org. There were a few hiccups, but everyone did pretty good! The trip was a lot of fun and the group was awesome. Thank you to our volunteer, Kristin, for joining us on this trip and throughout the year!
