MASS SCHEDULE

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
CONFESSIONS
Saturday: 3:00-4:30pm & 7:30-8:30pm;
Eve of Holy Day & Thursday before First Friday: 4 -5:00pm
I wish to greet all mothers in our parish community a very happy Mother’s Day. Nowadays,
this special day has practically become a world
celebration of the importance of the role of mothers in the family. At this time in our history when the value of family is constantly criticized and systematically undermined, it is now very
crucial to focus on the role of the family in society as the basic
unit of church to ensure that we do not lose sight of what is
essential in life.
BAPTISM
English: every 3rd Saturday; Spanish: every 2nd Saturday
This Week at a Glance
It is also very providential that this weekend we celebrate the
Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord into heaven. Jesus went
up to heaven in his resurrected body in the sight of his eleven
apostles 40 days after he was raised from the dead. Traditionally speaking, this feast was celebrated on a Thursday before the
Seventh Sunday of Easter. Here in the Ecclesiastical Province
of California where the Archdiocese of Los Angeles belongs,
we celebrate this feast on the Seventh Sunday of Easter. This is
to ensure that many people would be able to attend the celebration as compared to celebrating it on a Thursday. Celebrating
the feast on a Sunday means it becomes perpetually a holiday
of obligation for all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Last Sunday we were privileged to have Bishop Thomas Curry
presiding over the confirmation of our youth and some adults in
the RCIA program. I thank God for this momentous event in
the life of our young people who have responded to the call of
God to follow his son Jesus. The sacrament of confirmation
conferred to these young people makes them fully members of
the body of Christ, the Church and are now challenged to walk
with faith in God in the way they conduct their lives as disciples of Jesus.
Last Saturday morning, we also give thanks to God for those
who have received the sacrament of the Eucharist for the first
time. They are those young children who have finished their
catechetical formation under the Office of Sacramental Formation of our parish. I thank the parents and catechists of our
parish for their dedication and commitment to share their faith
in God to our children. This year we have decided to have special celebration of the mass for these children. We started with
the English group last Saturday at 10am and the Spanish group
at 1pm. Next Saturday we will have the last group in Spanish
receiving the Eucharist for the first time.
All these activities in our parish community would not have
been a success without the support and dedication of our parish
staff and the cooperation of the different liturgical ministries.
These people have given their time, talent and treasures to the
church to ensure that we fulfill our mandate to be one, holy and
apostolic. I sincerely thank all of them for their wonderful help.
I hope and pray that we can continue our task of bringing the
Good News to others in the best way possible in this community of faith.
Thank you so much and may God bless us all.

Respect Life Committee Is Human Life Sacred?
The sanctity of human life is the foundation of the
Christian religion. It is sacred because when God
made the universe, He first made the inanimate world
of sun, moon & stars; then the non-rational world of plants and animals. Finally, He made man ~ in His own likeness.
Every time a human being is conceived, God directly and immediately creates a human soul ~ only God can create the soul which is to
animate the body and make it a human person.
Human life is sacred because we are free to choose to love & serve
God. Human life is sacred because God became man in order to redeem us from sin. Human life is sacred because at Baptism we receive a share in God’s own life. Human life is sacred because, by the
grace of God, we can understand this by faith.
Because human life is sacred, it belongs to God. Abortion thus
becomes not only an offense against human dignity, but a crime
against the Divinity.

Know the signs of human trafficking
Publication date: 5/9/2016
Human trafficking claims many young victims every year, and
often, we see these victims in our daily lives. It is important to
recognize the signs of abuse and to know how to interact with
possible victims. The best way to start a tough conversation
with teens who may be at risk is simply to talk to them—ask
what’s going on in their lives, and if they are okay. Signs of
abuse include suspicious or inexplicable injuries, avoidance, or
reliance on an older “friend.” For more information please

Doy gracias a Dios
Agradezco sinceramente a
¡ FELIZ DIA
DE LAS MADRE!
