World Mission Sunday
Next weekend (October 17-18) we will
celebrate World Mission Sunday. This year we
are invited to support the 1,150 of the youngest
dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific islands, and
parts of Latin America, and Europe. Please
keep the missions in your prayers and please be
generous in next weekend's collection for the
Society of the Propagation of the Faith.
Columbus Day Holiday
In observance of the Columbus Day
holiday on Monday October 12th, the parish
office will be closed and the only Mass will be
celebrated at 9:00 AM.
Gate of Heaven Cemetery Bus Trip
St. Joseph Council Knights of Columbus
is having their annual bus trip to Gate of
Heaven Cemetery on Sunday November 1st
sponsored by Riverdale Funeral Home. After a
pick-up at Good Shepherd Church, the bus will
be stopping outside St. John-Visitation Church
at 11:15 am. Tickets are $10 person. For

Blessed Sacrament in Chapel at Parish
Pastoral Center
In addition to the reservation of the
Blessed Sacrament in both the upper and lower
church, the chapel at the St. John-Visitation
Parish Pastoral Center now has a tabernacle in
which the Blessed Sacrament is reserved. This
allows the opportunity for those who wish to
pray in the afternoons when the church is
closed (2:00-4:00 pm Monday through Friday)
and in the evening hours when the center is
open (6:00-9:00 pm Tuesday through Friday)
Submitting Parish Bulletin Notices
Items for consideration to be included
in our parish bulletin need to be submitted no
later than the Monday morning prior to the
desired weekend. Submissions should be made

Social Action Committee
Inspired by Pope Francis' visit to the
United States and his focus on many social
concerns, SAC -Social Action Committee
invites parishioners to join us Sunday October
18 at 12:45 pm in the St. John-Visitation Parish
Pastoral Center (corner of 230th St. and Corlear
Ave). Our goal is to educate our community,
and promote the social teachings of the Church
through reflection and action. In this meeting
we hope to decide collaboratively on one or
two areas for focus. Some examples include:
immigrant rights, the environment,
homelessness and income inequality.
Please join us for coffee and light
refreshments on Sunday, October 18.

looking forward to meeting and planning with
you.
St. Ann's Guild
The St. Ann's Guild will attend next
Sunday October 18th 11:30 am Mass and will
have their first meeting of the year at the St.
John-Visitation Parish Pastoral Center (275
West 230th Street.) The St. Ann's Guild meets
on the third Sunday of the month. All women
of the parish are welcome and refreshments
will be served.
Youth Group
Youth (Grade 8/13 years of age and
older) are invited to attend the Friday
gatherings from 7:00-9:00 pm in The St. JohnVisitation Parish Pastoral Center. These
meetings offer fun activities along with ways to
meet people, make new friends, and growing in
the ways of the Catholic faith as teenagers.

Prayer for Synod on the Family (October 4-25)
"May the Synod acknowledge, esteem,
and proclaim all that is beautiful, good and holy
about that experience. May it embrace
situations of vulnerability and hardship: war,
illness, grief, wounded relationships and
brokenness, which create distress, resentment
and separation. May it remind these families,
and every family, that the Gospel is always
“good news” which once again enables us to
start over. From the treasury of the Church’s
living tradition may the Fathers draw words of
comfort and hope for families called in our own
day to build the future of the ecclesial

Domingo Mundial de las Misiones
El próximo fin de semana celebraremos
el Domingo Mundial de las Misiones. Este año
estamos invitados a apoyar las 1.150 diócesis
más jóvenes en África, Asia, Islas de Pacifico,

Viaje en autobús para el Cementerio Puerta
del Cielo
St. Joseph Caballeros del Consejo de
Colón está teniendo su viaje en autobús anual
al cementerio Puerta del Cielo el domingo 1 de
noviembre patrocinado por Riverdale Funeral
Home. Después de un pick-up en la iglesia de
Good Shepherd, el autobús estará fuera de la
Iglesia San Juan-Visitación a las 11:15 am. Los

Santísimo Sacramento en la Capilla del Centro
Pastoral
Además de la reservacion del

Inspirado por la visita de Papa Francisco

Gremio de Santa Ana
Gremio de Santa Ana, asistirá el
próximo domingo 18 de octubre en la Misa de
11:30 am y tendrá su primera reunión del año
en el Centro Pastoral de San Juan-Visitación
(275 West 230th Street.) El Gremio de Santa
Ana se reúne el tercer domingo del mes. Todas
las mujeres de la parroquia son bienvenidos y
refrescos serán servidos.
Grupo de Jóvenes
Jóvenes (Grado 8/13 años de edad y
mayores) están invitados a asistir a las
reuniones de los viernes de 7: 00-9: 00 pm en el
Centro Pastoral de la Parroquia. Estas
reuniones ofrecen actividades divertidas junto
con las formas de conocer gente, hacer nuevos
amigos, y crecer en los caminos de la fe católica

Oración por Sínodo acerca la Familia (oct 4-25)
"Que el Sínodo reconoce, estima, y
proclame todo lo que es bello, bueno y santo de
esa experiencia, Que abrasemos la situaciones
de vulnerabilidad y dificultades:. La guerra, la
enfermedad, el dolor, las relaciones heridos y
quebrantamiento, que crean angustia,
resentimiento y la separación. Que recuerdan
estas familias y cada familia, que el Evangelio
es siempre "una buena noticia", que una vez
más nos permite empezar de nuevo. A partir de
la tesorería de la tradición viva de la Iglesia
puedan los Padres dibujar palabras de consuelo
y esperanza para las familias llamadas en
nuestro propio día para construir el futuro de la
comunidad eclesial y la ciudad del hombre. "
