Experience
Andrés has been a State Financial Inspector (Inspector de Hacienda del Estado) and a State Mediator and Auditor
(Interventor y Auditor del Estado) since 1991 (currently on leave). He was Chief Inspector of the Agency of
Inspection in Madrid and Assistant Director of Management Training at the Ministry of Economics and Finance
for the Institute of Fiscal Studies.
He joined the Firm as Partner and Head of the Tax Department in 2005. He has extensive experience as a tax
advisor in corporate restructuring, large family estates and tax audit procedures.
His professional practice is international, often involving side-by-side work with Mayer Brown lawyers for
processes involving international tax advice. He has acted on cases relating to a wide range of economic sectors,
including real estate, finance, hospitality, technology and industry.
Education

Degree in Economics and Business Administration, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, 1987.

Passed the public (competitive) entrance exam to become a State Financial Inspector (Inspector de
Hacienda del Estado), 1989.

Passed the public (competitive) entrance exam to become a State Mediator and Auditor (Interventor y
Auditor del Estado), 1991.

Teaching
Andrés has assisted students preparing for the competitive public exam for entry into the elite group of public
tax inspectors of the Ministry of Economics and Finance (Cuerpo Superior de Inspectores de Hacienda del Estado).
He has also worked with various institutes in the following postgraduate programmes: Masters in Business
Administration, Masters in Tax Advice, Masters in Urban Development and Land Distribution and Masters in
International Employment Law.

Andrés has collaborated with the Centre of Financial Studies for the discussion of topics relating to the preparation of for
the competitive public exam for entry into the elite group of the Ministry of Economics and Housing. He has also helped
develop study manuals of Spanish finance and tax law with the Instituto Católico de Estudios, SA. He has also coauthored the following works:

