ST. PATRICK CHURCH
MOUNT DORA, FLORIDA
∗ Middle/High School Youth Group: Our
regular meetings are postponed until the fall.
∗ St. Vincent de Paul Opportunities: We will
be unloading the truck and helping clients the
following upcoming dates: 6/8, 6/22 and every
other Wednesday throughout the summer, from 8:45 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m. During the year homeschooled youth take
this project on. During the summer, those who are on
school vacation, please join us so the other youth can
take a break. This is a great opportunity for community
service hours.
∗ THANK YOU! A HUGE THANK YOU to the adult
volunteers (Tim and Carolyn Green, Wayne and Leigh
Anne Bowron, Chris Berens, Celia Ratta and Todd
Faden,) who helped with our Annual Middle School
Retreat, Navigating Faithful Lives. They managed the
kitchen, set up our Slip and Slide Kickball, and helped us
to pray. Meanwhile, the Peer Ministers were the best!
Thanks to them for stepping up and leading our younger
youth to a deeper relationship to Christ, our parish, and
each other. Thank you to Fr. Anthony, Fr. Nelson, and Sr.
Judy for stopping in to share some time with our youth.
∗ Grill the Priest/Fry the Friar: All youth
in 8th—12th grade are invited to attend
this annual event on June 18th. Meet
at 5:20 in the parking lot to carpool to
the friary. Bring a dessert to share and
any questions you have. We will be
finished by 7:30 p.m. RSVP: Susan
Engel (352) 383-8556 x. 31 or [email protected]
∗ Welcome Back Bash: August 13th—Mark your calendar!
St. Vincent de Paul Needs: Over the summer, there is a tremendous
need of items by the food pantry. Children are out of school and are not
being fed school meals. Please remember this when you shop and take a
moment to pick up an extra item. Please leave them in the chest in the
Gathering Space. They could also use toiletry items. THANKS!!!!!
ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL AND
COLLEGE SENIORS:
Please plan to attend the 10:30am Mass on
Sunday, June 5th, to be recognized for your

Stewardship Bulletin Reflection
The more popular name for today’s Solemnity of the Most
Holy Body and Blood of Christ is Corpus Christi, which of
course in Latin means the “Body of Christ.” The Church has
celebrated this feast at this time since it was proclaimed by
Pope Urban IV in 1264.
We are asked on this day to concentrate on two
expressions of the Body of Christ — the Holy Eucharist and
the Church itself. The Catechism of the Catholic
Church (#1327) states the importance of the Eucharist
quite succinctly and directly: “In brief, the Eucharist is the
sum and summary of our faith.” At the center of every Mass
is our celebration of the Eucharist. The word “Eucharist”
comes from the Greek word eucharistia which means
“thanksgiving.” It is through the Eucharist which we receive
the Lord’s greatest gift to us, and it should be in
thanksgiving and delight which we receive it.
This holy day should also remind us of all those things for
which we should be thankful. Gratitude is at the basis of a
life of stewardship. It is through thanksgiving for all we have
received, especially the Holy Body and Blood of Christ
through the Eucharist, that we find the motivation and the
commitment to be good stewards.
The Pontiff Emeritus Benedict XVI in one of his writings
spoke of the Eucharist in this way: “In the Eucharist a
communion takes place that corresponds to the union of
man and woman in marriage. Just as they become ‘one
flesh,’ so in the Eucharist we all become ‘one spirit,’ one
person with Christ.” Today we thank God for the incredible
gift to us of the Eucharist.
