A
ll three readings remind us
that we are our brothers’ and
sisters’ keeper. This means
not only reaching out to those in need, but
also pulling them back from doing harm. God
called Ezekiel to be the watchman for the
house of Israel, speaking out to “turn [the
wicked] from [their] way.” The words of Paul remind the
Romans that the only debt they should have is to love one
another, adding that love does no evil to the neighbor. These
words can be heard as referring only to individual
relationships. The fourth great speech of Jesus in Matthew’s
Gospel, however, concerns the community, particularly its
responsibility to conform a wrongdoer. First, one tries to
persuade on a one-to-one basis, but if that fails, take another
one or even two with you. And if that fails, get the
community involved. Jesus’ final words can sound as though
a time might come to cut a wrongdoer off. But remember
that tax collectors and sinners were the very ones for whom
Jesus came first. The Christian community is never to give up
on one another.

It is with great concern for the ongoing crisis in the Middle
East, the cradle of Christianity, that I write to you today. Our
Church mourns the terrible suffering of Christians and other
innocent victims of violence in Iraq, Syria and Gaza who are
struggling to survive, protect their children and live with
dignity in dire conditions.
Es con gran preocupación por la actual crisis en el Medio Oriente,
la cuna del cristianismo, que les escribo hoy. Nuestra Iglesia está
de luto por el terrible sufrimiento de los cristianos y otras
víctimas inocentes de la violencia en Irak, Siria y Gaza que están

Given the extraordinary nature of this crisis, we are joining
Dioceses throughout the country to hold a special collection
this weekend, September 6-7 to provide humanitarian relief
and pastoral support for our affected brothers and sisters in
the Middle East.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR • CORO PARA NIÑOS
The St. Francis Children’s Choir (Grades 3-8)
is open to anyone in the parish. There is no
audition requirement and no entrance fee.
The Children’s Choir will rehearse on Thursdays from 6pm7pm in the Church. We will sing one Sunday a month at the
10:30am Mass and for special Holy Days, such as Christmas
and Easter. Registration will take place at the first rehearsal
on Thursday, September 11th at 6pm. If you would like to
register early, please approach Jonathan after Mass for a
Registration Form. For more information about this, please

El Coro de Niños de San Francisco (para niños entre los Grados

The Care Team is in urgent need of help from parishioners who
live in the communities of Zellwood, Errol Estates and
surrounding neighborhoods. We have two fellow parishioners
who are in need of rides to the 5:00pm Mass on a permanent
basis. One lives in Valencia Estates and needs a ride to and
from the 5:00pm Mass. The other only needs a ride from the
5:00pm Mass back to Errol Estates. Many blessings to anyone
who can help.

BAPTISMAL CATECHUMENATE
BAPTISMAL CATECHUMENATE—is the process of preparation that the Catholic
Church provides for adults who are seeking to be baptized, or who were
baptized in another Christian denomination and desire to be received into the
Catholic Church and culminates with the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA). It enables the study of the Gospels, Catholic Christian teaching, the
acceptance of Catholic Christian values and morality, the development and
deepening of a life of prayer and action with the support and involvement of
the local Christian community. The Baptismal Catechumenate is more than a
course of instruction, it is a process of conversion, designed to meet the
unique and individual needs of the participants. This program is open to all
interested non-Catholic adults who would like to know more about the
Catholic faith. Meets weekly. Please join us on Monday, September 8, 2014
at 7:00pm in the Faith Formation Building Room #1, for a look at one of our
catechesis sessions. No strings attached, just come and see!

CATECUMENADO BAUTISMAL-es el proceso de preparación que la Iglesia
Católica ofrece a los adultos que desean ser bautizados, o que fueron
bautizados en otra denominación cristiana y desean ser recibidos en la Iglesia
Católica y la cual culmina con el Rito de Iniciación Cristiana de Adultos (RCIA).
