6th Sunday of Easter
News from the Bishop: One of the most powerful testimonies to the culture of life is support of pregnant women in need. In the new statement “Set Out in Haste,” the Maryland bishops discuss the need to reach out to pregnant women, as well as review recent proposals that target pregnancy resource centers, which provide pregnant women with emotional and material support. To learn more about this issue and how you can help, please read the bishops’ statement in today’s bulletin or visit www.mdcathcon.org. Pastor’s Musings I invite you to visit the parish website, www.stmaryscambridge.org, if you have not done so recently. I may be prejudiced, but I think it is one of the best parish websites in the diocese, if not the whole of creation. It has pictures, sound, music, the weekly parish bulletin, parish pastoral council minutes, the parish mission statement, committee reports, and much, much more. You can get directions to church and find out what is happening in the parish. Kudos to Chris Flynn, the parish webmaster, and those who assist him. The website will translate the bulletin and other information into Spanish or the language of your choice. We need to work on using the parish calendar on the site and add a picture of the pastor (and Señor Gato, of course). Padre Bill LEARN MORE ABOUT THE U.S. BISHOPS CAMPAIGN ON IMMIGRATION by visiting www.justiceforimmigrants.org or contacting (302) 655-0518. The difference in income over expenses was generated by a gain of $11,913 in our investment account and an increase in weekly offertory, Christmas, holy day and rental income. Thank you to those who have increased your regular giving to the parish! We are not out of the woods yet, but we are making progress. We were able to pay $6,750 on our past due assessment to the diocese of $13,500 (an additional $6,750 will be due in March). More importantly, the parish continues to offer all of our services (liturgies, religious education, Hispanic Ministry) and supports the St. Vincent de Paul ministry, community needs and special needs (Haitian relief). None of this would be possible without your generosity. Cat-Lick Corner: “I made a bet with the pastor on the Super Bowl. He thinks the Saints are going to win. But I know that Peyton Manning is one ‘cool cat,’ and the Colts will win.” Señor Gato.
