Catholicism Series, Donahue Center Cafeteria WEDNESDAY, JULY 20 Father Tim Nolt, our new Rector, (effective July 19), writes: “I arrived in Texas on Jan. 1, 1990, to begin my studies at UT-Austin in piano performance. I hold a BM degree from the Juilliard School and a MM degree from UT-Austin (1992). I also hold an MTS from Ave Maria University and an M. Div. from University of St. Thomas/ St. Mary’s Seminary Houston (lots of paper to hang on the wall.). I grew up in Lancaster, PA, in a family very strong in their evangelical faith. As I arrived in Texas, I began seeking the right fit for church community, and ended up with a house church movement in Austin. I also began free-lancing as a classical pianist/accompanist and ended up playing for Masses at San Jose parish in South Austin about once a month. God worked through my experience of Catholic liturgy and many conversations with well-educated and joyful Catholic friends, to draw me into the sacramental world of the Catholic Church. For 10 years before seminary I worked for the City of Georgetown, in their Information Technology (IT) Department. I was received into the Church in 1999, at St. John Vianney parish in Round Rock and then began a slow discernment for seminary/Catholic priesthood. Part of my discernment was my three years as part-time music director/staff member at St. John Vianney. I entered seminary formation in 2007 at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston and was ordained June 8, 2013 for the Diocese of Austin. I served two years at St. Helen parish in Georgetown, and one year at St. William parish in Round Rock. 6:30am... Daily Mass, Bishops Hall 11:00am.. Confessions, 1st/2nd Grade Classrooms 12:05pm.
