FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
Congratulations to those
who recently received the
Sacrament of First Communion
ST. FRANCIS DE SALES SCHOOL
What an exciting and beautiful event
filled 50th Anniversary Weekend for
St Francis de Sales School on April 11th and
12th. Our events began on Saturday with the
Waterfall Dedication in honor of
Mrs Megow. Mrs. Megow's family
participated in the special prayer service.
Next up on Saturday was our SFdS
Birthday Bash. Student groups performed for
the guests. Kids of all ages enjoyed the bounce houses and games.
Adults danced the night away. Over 400 attended this fun filled
evening. Sunday began with the dedication of our SPORT Deck in
honor of Carolyn Smith, who taught PE for over 30 years at SFdS.
She has inspired and served as a role model for so many of our
alumni. Houston City Councilman Mike Laster presented SFdS
with a City Proclamation declaring April 12, 2015 as
St Francis de Sales Catholic School Day. Fr Joseph blessed our
Rosary Garden Sunday afternoon following the SPORT Deck
dedication. SFdS families, alumni, and friends purchased engraved
stones symbolizing the beads of the rosary. During the blessing,
families stood by the bead they donated. Two former religion
teachers, Mrs Mary Ann Petru and John Masterson '84, read
scripture passages during the prayer service. The SFdS 50th
Anniversary Weekend concluded Sunday night with5pm Mass.
Deacon Mike Quiray, alum parent, proclaimed the Gospel and
gave a moving homily. Following Mass, a reception was held in the
Beck Athletic Center. Alumni pictures were taken from the various
decades. The entire weekend was a wonderful celebration of our
families, both new and old, and our staff, both new and old!
