Frente Auténtico del Trabajo/Authentic Workers’ Front (FAT) is an independent federation of labor
unions, worker owned cooperatives, and farmworker and community organizations. They are well known
for promoting democracy in unions, and in all of Mexico. FAT represents workers in manufacturing, as
well as transportation and the public sector, in more than half the states of Mexico. They also play a
leading role in the fight against NAFTA and the Mexican government’s harsh austerity policies.

El Frente Auténtico del Trabajo (FAT) es una federación independiente de sindicatos, cooperativas que
son propiedad del trabajador, y de organizaciones campesinas y sociales. Son ampliamente conocidos
por fomentar la democracia en los sindicatos y en todas partes de México.
El FAT representa a obreros de fabricación en más de la mitad de los estados de México, así como a
trabajadores del transporte y del sector público. Además, desempeñaron un papel muy importante en la
lucha contra el Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC/ NAFTA) y contra las duras políticas de austeridad del
gobierno mexicano.
