ST. JAMES ROMAN CATHOLIC PARISH WEEKLY BULLETIN - October 03-04, 2015
Pastor’s Corner... Fr. Robert Aliunzi, A.J.
YOU HAVE TO STAND UP FOR THE UNBORN:
YOUR CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP DEMANDS IT!
This month of October is dedicated to rallying our intentions, consciences and support in defense of the defenseless un-born babies.
It is in other words a Pro-Life month. As I do every year, I usually
give four minutes stewardship talk at all the Masses on this important subject, every first Sunday of October. This year, I would
like to challenge you once again to stand up for the unborn because
your Christian and Catholic responsibility demands it.
It is now abundantly clear that the horrible things we continue to
witness being done to unborn babies, and most recently through the
leaked activities of the sale of baby parts by the Planned Parenthood
was in part augmented on that fateful January 22, 1973. On that
day, by a 7-2 vote, the United States Supreme Court declared that
children in the first nine months of life; that is, the nine months
they live in their mother's wombs can be aborted. Yet we all now
know from modern biology and genetics that from the moment of
conception a new human being is formed which has the exact number of chromosomes that any other human being has in each cell:
forty-six. Embedded in these chromosomes is all the genetic information for the new individual. There has never been a person with
exactly the same code before, and there never will be one again; that
person is unique from the very first instant. When was it decided
that you would be male or female? When was the color of your
skin or eyes decided? All at the moment of conception! This is not
religious dogma; these are not quotes from the Bible or the Catholic
Church. These are scientific facts that can be found in any biology
book in the world or even googled!
Despite all these, "Roe vs. Wade" decision, made abortion legal in
all the 50 states of our country. The unfortunate reality is that this
was never requested for or approved by the American people. It
was decided by seven men and shamelessly imposed on the American people. These seven men declared that the pre-born child is
not a person, and therefore is not entitled to have his/her life protected by law! By a stroke of a pen therefore, a whole segment of
human beings, created in the image of God was denied protection.
How sad! How outrageous!
It is simply wrong to kill babies. Period. Therefore, something has
to be done about it and something can be done about it. You and I,
as Christians stewards and simply as decent human beings, have an
obligation to do something about this, for the sake of these babies
who have no one to speak for them AND FOR THE SAKE OF
THEIR MOTHERS. They, too, are victims of abortion; they suffer, too, and we are called to love them.
Abortion proponents argue that to respect women we must give
them the "choice" to kill their babies. How does this respect women? If we really respect them, the genuine action we can take is to
come to their aid in such a difficult situation, and see to it that they
have what they need to give life to their child. If a woman is in a
"crisis pregnancy", it is our responsibility to help her by eliminating
the crisis, not by eliminating the pregnancy. The question she faces
at that point is NOT, "Shall I have the child or not"? The fact is that
if she's pregnant, she ALREADY HAS the child. The real choice at
issue is, "Shall I carry the child to birth or shall I kill him/her"?
Clearly, the choice to kill is not an option. Our country has taken a
seriously wrong turn by making this option legal. It is our responsibility as stewards and as Christians to love these women and their
babies so much that the so called "option" of abortion will never be
an option.
cualquier otro humano: cuarenta y seis.
propia voz y POR EL BIEN DE SUS MAMAS.
no?”

ST. JAMES ROMAN CATHOLIC PARISH WEEKLY BULLETIN - October 03-04, 2015
Calling all parishioners….
BECOME A PART OF OUR NEWEST MINISTRY!
Our WELCOME TEAM members
are staffing the Welcome Desk
every weekend. The main focus of
the ministry is to meet & greet
parishioners and visitors before
and after all weekend Masses.
They will be available to answer
questions and provide information
about the parish.
St James Parish is looking for a part-time Administrative Assistant
to work approximately 13 to 15 hours each week. The right candidate would be able to multi-task and be very organized. They would
need a variety of skills – working with cash & banking, ordering supplies, filing, working with volunteers, and some data entry. A good
eye for design and aesthetics will be needed to work with bulletin
advertising, producing graphics and working with the website. The
hours can be flexible – but a couple of mornings and a couple of afternoons would be needed each week. Also time before and after the
4:00 Saturday Mass will be required for the remainder of this calendar year and possibly longer. Applications are available at the Parish
Office or can be downloaded from the Diocesan website.
We will be interviewing for this position
this coming week. Please submit your
applications to:
This ministry is open to everyone. If you
would like to be a part of the team, please
call the parish office to sign up. You will be
able to volunteer time before and/or after
the Mass you usually attend each weekend.

ST. JAMES ROMAN CATHOLIC PARISH WEEKLY BULLETIN - October 03-04, 2015
Special Thoughts from the St. James Pro Life Ministry
The Miracle of Conception
Week 5 of 40 – Join us on the journey



I have arms and legs.
My brain waves can be detected and recorded.
My nose and mouth are beginning to show.
A new life starts when just one sperm cell from the father joins and fertilizes an egg cell from the mother. Just moments after conception numerous hereditary characteristics are determined. These include the different features and
individual trademarks such as gender, color of eyes, hair and skin; the shape of the face and body; and certain qualities of temperament and intelligence. A wonderful and unique little life has begun.
Join us the 1st Sunday of every month at 8:00am as we pray the rosary for the unborn in front of the Planned
Parenthood at 5771 W. Eugie with the Knights of Columbus. This month’s rosary will be on October 4th.
The Pro-Life Ministry would like to invite you to join us every 1st Tuesday of the month at 6pm in the church hall.
Help us to defend those who cannot defend themselves!
