The volunteers visited five schools in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Chaco, Santiago del Estero and Santa Fe. Each group of corporate volunteers visited the school where their plant is located to share reading aloud stories during the celebration of the Children´s Day. Solidarity Day - Santander Río “the most significant moment, no doubt, was to see the children´s surprise when they entered the room for the first time. During the day, some of the children come to us to ask what we were doing, they reacted with joy and emotion, although they did not receive an immediate response.” Florencia, volunteer from American Express. “Besides the moment of reading the dramatized and the children´s face collaborating in the play, the most important instance is when everybody expresses their wishes to help, the team work, the contact with the institution. I find it difficult to describe one moment in particular because I was lucky to participate actively in many circumstances and I am happy for everything I lived through. It is an extremely rewarding experience and I am looking forward to participating in some other day.” Laura, from American Express. 39 Fundación Leer and the media Impact in the media Clarín - 5/2012 La Nación - 4/10/2012 Muy - 4/2012 BAE - 24/8/2012 40 Tiempo Argentino - 28/9/2012 Clarín 1/ 2012 Tendencia 8/12 Revista Positiva 9/12 La Gaceta 18/8/12 Tiempo Argentino -4/2012 La Nación -4/2012 La Nación -29/9/2012 Agenda- Clarín Miércoles 26/9 41 Sponsors of Fundación Leer We deeply appreciate the support provided by the following companies and organizations during 2012 42 AcerBrag S.A. Besides, in the 10th National Reading Marathon participated 4.026.564 children, young people and adults from all around the country. From now on we will lie special emphasis on on-line projects as there are increasingly more schools and teachers that have incorporated new technologies to their daily work. We strongly believe in the value of this teaching resource and are willing to take advantage of its whole potential to go into our educational task in depth. In this sense, through our alliance with the ISSA- International Step by Step Association we will offer a training course aimed to enhance the training of pre-school teachers. Additionally, we will go on supporting the training of teachers so that they can incorporate new strategies for promoting reading, reading comprehension and critical thinking in children. We look forward to continue working together with both the Ministries of Education and Social Development throughout the country in order to enhance the early education of children, as we strongly believe that it is in the first years of life when there is a window of opportunities to support the present and future development of children. Once again we will make a special effort to achieve that the 11th National Reading Marathon, that will take place on September 27, 2013, go on summoning institutions from all over the country and joining us together in favor of reading and books, through a campaign that unites those who, like us, believe that a literate and reading Argentina is possible.
