Dear friends in Christ,
I am grateful for the many invitations that have been coming to have a meal or
spend some time with you, but with the increased work load with Fr. Enrique
leaving, and my other job at the Diocese, there simply is not enough time for me
to accept all the invites. I will try to accept as many as possible, but please
understand if I have to say “no” it is only because the timing does not make it
possible. For this reason the Core team of the parish has prepared a month of

Reform: From the outset we have watched as he has gone out of his way to step outside the Popemobile to greet people, especially
the disabled and children. His manner of reform rests on his conviction that the faithful people are the ones who matter, the ones
whom the clergy are there to serve, build up, heal and nurture, rather than the other way round. He announced immediately that he
was there to heal the “wounds of clericalism”, the most vicious wound being the clergy sex abuse and its cover up. The key to
understand his desire to reform the Vatican and the Church across the world stems from his conviction that the Church is the “holy
people of God” and not an institution that needs to be served by the people. In the same breath Francis signaled that he intended to
reform the way the Vatican does business. Many of those who know how entrenched the bureaucracy in the Vatican is and how
unresponsive are the various “dicasteries” [means administrative congregations], wondered how he would accomplish such a
reform when it had eluded the previous administrations of John Paul and Benedict? Pope Benedict was outspoken about the moral
“filth” he encountered in some quarters of the Vatican and even more the financial mishandling, and the incessant leaks of
confidential and sensitive information which marred his administration. Many wondered how an old man [just recently turned 79]
would manage it? It seems to have “done in” Benedict, and I myself am conscious of my own diminishing powers of
administration at 70, how could he do it? IHM pray for us, Fr. Jerry

13th Annual IHM Charity Golf Tournament and Dinner
The 13th annual IHM Charity Golf Tournament and Dinner will be
held this year on Monday June 6 at the Brentwood Golf Club. The
tournament is $125 or $85 for Brentwood annual pass holders and
includes dinner. Dinner for those not playing in the golf tournament
is $35. This year the Dinner has a special meaning as it will provide
the opportunity for dinner participant to visit with, thank, and say
good-bye to Father Jerry for his decade of service to IHM. Tickets
for the dinner are $35. Tickets to sit with Father Jerry for
dinner are $100 or $50 if you have played in the golf
tournament. Proceeds from the Father Jerry head table
