These words of our Savior seem to be in stark contrast to last week's Gospel, when we were told that if we do not take up our crosses, we are not worthy of Christ. Connecting these two messages might help us on our faith journeys. Being a follower of Christ surely Each Mass is offered for all the faithful, living and dead. means that we must embrace the cross, in its mystery of The following are specifically remembered this week: both suffering and triumph. This is something that we SATURDAY– July 5th, First Saturday need not do alone, for the burden is often too heavy for us 8:30AM People of St. Colette to carry by ourselves. Who, then do we turn to? We can 5:00PM Frank Miller, Pete Truxell turn to the Body of Christ--the community of disciples gathered for worship. When we find the burden too SUNDAY– July 6th, 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time heavy, let us remember that we can share that burden 7:30AM Sr. Jo-Ann Brdecka O.S.F., Joseph J. Brdecka, with our Christian sisters and brothers who can help bring Erin Miller, James Stuerebaut, Eleanore Healy, John & Christine Faflik and children for spiritual us rest. Today's Scriptures call us to rejoice in thanksgiving for the gift given to us by God in the Lord Jesus. The healing, health and blessings. prophet Zechariah tells the people of Israel to "rejoice 9:00AM Danny Miller, Gregg Miller, Joseph Clark Jay heartily," to "shout for joy," for the promised Savior shall 10:30AM Eleanore Healy, Scott Connolly, James Britton, come. What does Jesus Christ, this long-awaited Savior, Robby Sloan Jr. bring to us? Today he brings us words of comfort and 12:00PM People of St. Colette peace, and for this our hearts are filled with joy. Most Christians carry heavy burdens at one time or another in MONDAY - July 7th their lives. There is a statistic floating around that says 8:00AM Dr. Virginia Dawiz– Thanksgiving that two of every three people who come to church on Sunday are hurting in some way. This means that, if you TUESDAY - July 8th, happen to be one of those who are not burdened or hurt8:00AM John Joseph Healy ing this day, chances are that the people on either side of you at church today are hurting! The Lord Jesus tells us WEDNESDAY – July 9th to take his yoke and learn from him. Learning from him 8:00AM Emogene V. Lukawski means learning to be as much like him as we possibly can. Perhaps today's Scriptures are calling you to be THURSDAY– July 10th Christ for those whose burdens are heavy. Is there some8:00AM William Rossillo one in your family who is weighed down by pressures at FRIDAY - July 11th work or at school? Is there someone among your circle of 9:00AM Special Intention, Daniel Johnson friends who is laden with grief over the loss of a loved one? Why not take the time to talk with them, do someSATURDAY– July 12th thing special for them, or try in some way to ease their 8:30AM People of St. Colette burden? If you are feeling heavily burdened, why not turn 5:00PM Frank Miller, Paul Chybicki, Michael Chybicki, to someone you trust and share that burden with them? Louise Chybicki, Helen Szafran, Henry Geisen, You may be surprised that this encounter could lead to a Marianne Lloyd, Katherine Maloney, Robert Pitts, new experience of Jesus Christ. Then the words of the John Lenz, Al Lenz prophet Zechariah may become our own. Sorrow just might be transformed into hearty rejoicing. As this week SUNDAY– July 13th, 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time unfolds, let us all look for opportunities to bring Christ 7:30AM Sr. Jo-Ann Brdecka O.S.F., Joseph J. Brdecka, into the lives of those who search for meaning, support, Erin Miller, James Stuerebaut, Eleanore Healy, and healing.
