It is the priest who continues the work of redemption here on earth...What use would be a house filled with gold, were there no one to open its door? The priest holds the key to the treasures of heaven: it is he who opens the door: he is the steward of the good Lord; the administrator of His goods...Leave a parish for twenty years without a priest and they will end by worshiping the beasts there. The priest is not a priest for himself, he is a priest for you." Saint John Mary Vianney. They failed to recognize Jesus in the equation; that whatever they had to offer, Jesus could take it and bless it and satisfy the hunger of the crowd with it. Good stewards recognize that the Lord can work miracles with the gifts they offer to a hungry and broken world. How often are we willing to offer our gifts in faith, even as insignificant as we think they are, and count on the Lord to do the rest? How often do we count Christ into the equation? INTERCESSIONS FOR LIFE For the hungry: That they may receive the sustenance they need; We pray to the Lord. Theresa’s? We are all aware of the need for vacations to the priesthood, the religious life and to the deaconate. But sometimes we forget just how powerful praying for an increase in vocations can be. The purpose of the Elijah Cup Ministry is to provide a focal point for prayer specifically for an increase in vocations. The Elijah Cup is inspired by the story in 1 Kings 17. We will always have priests to nuestra copa nunca se secará y siempre tendremos bring us Jesus in the Eucharist. sacerdotes que nos traeran a Jesús en la Eucaristía. During the 10 AM Children’s Mass and the 5PM Teen Mass, Father calls a family or individual forward to receive the Elijah Cup. They receive a blessing and then take the chalice home where it is a focal point for prayer. Each day during the following week, they pray for an increase and perseverance of vocations (prayer cards are provided). The following Sunday they return the cup to the Sacristy for another family to participate. This ministry is ongoing, there is no end, as prayers for vocations are needed everyday.
