SECONDA DOMENICA DI PASQUA O DELLA DIVIN A MISERICORDIA  3 DI APRILE, 2016
“Many signs and wonders were done among the people at the hands of the
apostles. They were all together in Solomon’s portico. None of the others dared to
join them, but the people esteemed them. Yet more than ever, believers in the
Lord, great numbers of men and women, were added to them... Blessed are those
who have not seen and have believed.” The second Sunday of Easter, designated
Divine Mercy Sunday by St. John Paul II, and a key moment in the Jubilee Year of
Mercy finds us, not at Solomon’s portico but in our homes and home parishes. The signs and
wonders of the early church are manifest again, as others, through our efforts and invitation, return
to the life of the church. If each person would pause, pray, and then invite someone to experience
the mercy of God and return to the life of the church, how different would our parish life be. Before
his election as Pope, our Holy Father as Archbishop of Buenos Aires wrote “Only someone who has
encountered mercy, who has been caressed by the tenderness of mercy, is happy and comfortable
with the Lord.” Have I offered this gift to someone else?
“Los Apóstoles hacían muchos signos y prodigios en el pueblo. Todos solían
congregarse unidos en un mismo espíritu, bajo el pórtico de Salomón, pero ningún
otro se atrevía a unirse al grupo de los Apóstoles, aunque el pueblo hablaba muy
bien de ellos. Aumentaba cada vez más el número de los que creían en el Señor,
tanto hombres como mujeres… ¡Dichosos los que creen sin haber visto!” El Segundo
Domingo de Pascua, designado como el Domingo de la Divina Misericordia por San Juan Pablo II, y
un momento clave en Jubileo del Año de Misericordia nos encuentra no en el portico de Salomón,
sino en nuestros hogares y parroquias. Las señales y prodigios de la temprana iglesia se manifiestan
de nuevo, como en otros, a través de nuestros esfuerzos e invitación para regresar a la vida de la
iglesia. Si cada persona pudiera hacer una pausa, orara y luego invitara a alguien a experimentar la
misericordia de Dios y regresar a la vida de la iglesia, qué diferente sería la vida de nuestra
parroquia. Antes de ser elegido como Papa, nuestro Santo Padre como Arzobispo de Buenos Aires
escribió: “Sólo alguien que ha encontrado la misericordia, que ha sido acariciado por la misericordia,
está feliz y cómodo con el Señor”. ¿Le he ofrecido este don a alguien más?
“Partecipando al sacrificio della Messa, noi ascoltiamo ogni volta le parole di Cristo
che si rivolge agli apostoli: “Vi lascio la pace, vi do la mia pace”. Inoltre, imploriamo il
Signore di concederci “unità e pace secondo la sua volontà” e di donare “la pace ai
nostri giorni”. Ogni volta che apparve agli apostoli Cristo, dopo aver vinto la morte,
augurò la pace, sapendo quanto tutti loro la desiderassero. Nel conferire agli apostoli il
potere di rimettere i peccati, Cristo ha portato la pace nell’anima inquieta dell’uomo.
L’anima creata da Dio ha nostalgia di Dio. La pace con Dio è il fondamento della pace tra gli uomini.
Liberato dalla schiavitù del peccato, l’uomo è in pace, ha l’anima in festa, in pace. La pace regna sui
cuori puri. È partendo dalla pace interiore, quella del cuore, appoggiandosi ad essa, che si può
stabilire la pace esteriore: in famiglia, fra vicini, in seno alla Chiesa, tra i popoli. Dio chiama tutti gli
uomini ad unirsi al suo popolo unico. Il suo desiderio, che è di riunire tutti gli uomini in seno ad
un’unica comunità per salvarli, è già espresso nell’Antico Testamento.

Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty
Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water, which
gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain
of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
