IN GOD ALONE
SÓLO EN DIOS
Isaiah speaks to us today of Cyrus,
King of Persia, anointed by the
Lord. God calls Cyrus by name and
leads him in service to the Israelites. In this passage we hear that
it is the Lord who gives Cyrus his
title, who arms him against his
enemies, and who opens doors
and unbars gates before him. And
God does all of this so that the people will know that ―I
am the LORD,‖ and that ―there is none besides
me‖ (Isaiah 45:6).

Paul opens his letter with essentially the same notion—
that in God alone we find our grace and peace. Paul also
gives thanks to God on our behalf, calling to mind our
work of faith, hope, and love. And in the familiar Gospel
reading, Jesus tells the Pharisees to give to Caesar what

La Novena de los Fieles Difuntos
Our parish will begin its All Souls Novena at the
8:00 AM Daily Mass on All Souls Day (Wednesday,
November 2nd). The Novena will continue for 9
consecutive Masses (at the 8:00 AM Daily Mass
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the
5:00 PM Saturday Anticipated Mass of Sunday and
the 8:00 AM 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM
Masses on Sunday, November 6th).
Beginning this weekend, you may enroll deceased
loved ones in the Novena by using the Novena envelope
(available in the mailed packets or on the table in the vestibule) to list their names and include your donation. Envelopes need to be turned in by the 8:00 AM Mass on Wednesday, November 2nd.

Difuntos en la misa de las 8 de la mañana en el Día
de los Fieles Difuntos (el 2 de noviembre). La novena
continuará por nueve misas consecutivas (en la misa

World Mission Sunday Collection

Colecta Dominical de World Mission
Next Sunday, October 23, the Church will observe World Mission Sunday and take up a special collection at all Masses. The
theme for this year’s World Mission Sunday is, ―As the Father
has sent me, so I send you‖ (Jn 20:21). The universal celebration of World Mission Sunday serves to reawaken and promote
awareness of the Church’s missionary nature. During October,
please pray that through World Mission Sunday, the Holy Spirit
will enkindle in our hearts a true passion for evangelization.
El próximo domingo 23 de octubre, la Iglesia festejará el Domingo de World Mission [Misiones Mundiales] y habrá una
colecta especial en todas las Misas. El tema de este año para
World Mission Sunday es, ―Como el Padre me ha enviado, así
os envío yo‖ (Jn. 20:21). La celebración universal de World
Mission Sunday sirve para volver a despertar y promover conciencia de la naturaleza misionera de la Iglesia. Durante octubre, por favor recen para que a través del Domingo Mundial
de Misiones, el Espíritu Santo despierte en nuestros corazones
una verdadera pasión por la evangelización.

The focus of this annual campaign is
to foster respect for life from ―womb
to tomb‖. In this spirit, throughout
this month we will be collecting baby
items for Reachout Pregnancy Center
as well as items for the elderly residents at Villa Maria Care Center .
Donations for infants can be put in
the playpen and items for the elderly
in the basket by the walker both of
which will be in the vestibule.

El tema de esta campaña anual es
el promover el respeto a la vida de
―la matriz a la tumba‖. Con esa
intención, durante todo este mes
estaremos recabando artículos
para bebés para el Reachout Pregnancy Center, así como artículos
para los ancianos residentes del
Villa Maria Care Center.

Sacrament Preparation
Important Information Evening for Parents
Parents of children preparing for their First Reconciliation
need to attend an important meeting this coming Thursday, October 20 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in Dougherty Hall
(for English speaking parents) and in Nicholson Hall (for
Spanish speaking parents). This meeting will include formation about this sacrament as well as critical information concerning the celebration of First Reconcilation in
December.

The first of the ritual steps in the initiation process for adults
and children of catechetical age – the Rite of Acceptance into
the Order of Catechumens – will be celebrated at our 10:00
AM Mass next Sunday (October 25th). Several children who
have been involved in religious education this past year, are
ready to celebrate this first ritual step as a part of their faith
formation in preparation for celebrating the sacraments of
Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the next Easter Vigil.
El primer paso del ritual del proceso de iniciación para adultos
y niños en edad de catequesis – el Rito de Aceptación en la
Orden de los Catecúmenos – se celebrará el próximo domingo
25 de octubre en nuestra Misa de 10:00 AM. Varios niños que
el año pasado han estado involucrados en la educación religiosa, están listos para celebrar este primer paso del ritual, como
parte de su formación de fe al prepararse para celebrar los

Adult Confirmation Classes
coming this Fall
It is our parish’s custom to celebrate Confirmation at
the end of January or the beginning of February each
year. In preparation for this, we will be offering a
preparation series in English for adult Catholics (18
years or older) who were baptized and received First
Communion but have not been confirmed. If you haven’t been confirmed, and would like to celebrate this
sacrament, please let Fr. Glenn know of your interest
(795-1633, Ext. 111 or [email protected]). Details will
be available in a few weeks.

Sacrament Preparations for Adults
This year our parish will offer a series of classes for Spanish
speaking adults (18 years or older) who have been baptized
as Catholics but have not celebrated one or more of the following sacraments: First Penance, Confirmation and First
Communion. The preparation series will begin in November
and run through the spring of 2012.
In conjunction with this series, we will also be offering
Spanish speaking couples who are married civilly but not in
the Church, the opportunity to prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony. If one or both of the married couple
needs to celebrate one of the above sacraments in preparation for having their marriage blessed, they should plan on
participating in the above series. More information about the
series and how to register will be in future bulletins, or you
can call Deacon Mario Aguirre at the Parish (795-1633).

Preparación Sacramental para Adultos
Este año nuestra parroquia ofrecerá una serie de clases para
adultos hispanoparlantes (de 18 en adelante) quienes han
sido bautizados como católicos, pero les falta uno o más de
los siguientes sacramentos: primera reconciliación; comfirmación; primera comunión. Las clases comenzarán en noviembre y terminarán a fines de la primavera de 2012.
Junto con esta serie de clases ofreceremos también, a parejas
hispanoparlantes quienes están casados por lo civil mas no
por la iglesia, la oportunidad para preparar para celebrar el
sacramento de matrimonio. Si a uno o a ambos de la pareja
les falta el celebrar uno de los sacramentos mencionados arriba, deben hacer planes de asistir las clases de preparación
sacramental, para que se pueda bendecir el matrimonio. Más
informaciones aparecerán en los boletines domingueros, o
