The QRS aims to strengthen the quality culture and habits
in all members of the ITURRI Group. It tries to ensure that
everyone identifies possible problems and opportunities
for improvement and that there is consistent monitoring at
individual, departmental and managerial level. Quality control
(QRS) is based on two basic ideas:

Since 1 January 2012, the ITURRI Group has been using a new
system for managing quality, the QRS (Quality Records System).
This method permits all the information relating to customer
incidents and opportunities for improvement to be stored in one
single place. It also records observations made by anyone with
a complaint, all of which is developed as part of the customer
satisfaction initiative. The availability of this material in one single
site helps to facilitate global management, monitoring by the
management and analysis of the root causes for improvement.

Se trata de un método que permite registrar en un solo lugar todas las

Footwear industry adapts to changes
The footwear industry has experienced a rapid growth in
production and marketing all over the world. These changes
have resulted in a crisis in the sector requiring a defensive
response: cost reductions, subcontracting, specialisation and
even turning to the submerged economy.
Nevertheless, at present this strategy does not seem to be
sufficient for tackling the challenges of globalisation and
competition in world markets. This requires an active attitude
based on research, development and the purchase of new
manufacturing and design equipment, etc. A change in
strategy requiring major investment.

La industria del calzado ha experimentado un rápido crecimiento de
la producción y del comercio en todo el mundo. Estos cambios han
llevado a una crisis en el sector que ha obligado a responder con
actitudes defensivas: reducción de costes, subcontratas, especialización
e incluso acudiendo a la economía sumergida.
No obstante, esta estrategia a día de hoy no parece suficiente para
afrontar los retos de la globalización y de la competencia en mercados
mundiales. Para esto se requiere una actitud activa que utilice la
investigación, el desarrollo y la adquisición de nuevos
equipos de fabricación, diseño, etc. Un cambio de
estrategia que requiere fuertes inversiones.
La tecnología en la fabricación del calzado ha
evolucionado intensamente y afecta a todas
las operaciones. Especialmente al diseño del
producto. Los nuevos Software CAD/CAM en el
diseño de elementos y del producto final han
mejorado la operatividad y han acortado el
tiempo necesario para obtener prototipos. Cabe
destacar también entre las últimas innovaciones la
automatización del corte.
Para suplir nuestras carencias y avanzar con las
nuevas tecnologías nació el taller de muestra
IDC, que cuenta con las herramientas descritas
anteriormente: Sofware CAD, digitalizador,
máquina de corte automático, línea de aparado
y dos líneas de fabricación que nos permiten
realizar diferentes tipos: cosido, pegado e
inyectado, que son los más comercializados en el
sector de calzado profesional.

To make up for our shortcomings and to get ahead with the
new technologies, the IDC sample workshop was created.
This workshop has been equipped with the above-mentioned
tools: CAD software, digitiser, automatic cutting machine,
closing line and two manufacturing lines permitting different
manufacturing types: stitching, gluing and injecting, which
are the most commonly marketed methods in the professional
footwear sector.
Since then, significant progress has been made with the
different designs. We highlight the following models:
• Mod.1004. This is a turn-out boot, fireproofed in
accordance with standard EN ISO 15090.
• Mod.1006. A boot for use in fire extinction with protection
against cuts from a chain saw.
• Mod.114. This model is a prototype designed for the
Spanish army.
• Mod.118. Prototype designed for the French army as
lightweight combat boot which has generated many
expectations.
Throughout 2011 more than 1000 sample pairs have been
created with a delivery time for standard samples of 15 days,
and for special designs of three months. These innovations
and investments have enabled us to increase our levels of
competitiveness, a strategic factor for any economic activity.
Sipeco trepa system: this is a specific programme for the grading and cutting
of patterns. The system takes the original pieces from the base sketch and
automatically grades them.

PPE (especially gloves) are required for
these measures. This data is essential and of
importance in the German market, the largest and most
developed in Europe.
The tool also serves as a platform for promoting new designs,
either from within the ITURRI group or from prestigious
manufacturers who collaborate with the Company at PanEuropean level. In this way, the ITURRI group is able to offer
technical assistance independent of the brand, together with
the best product at the best price, and always available!

A safe workplace
On 9 December 2011, CIOP-PIB Pracy Ochrony Centralny
Instytut - Pañstwowy Instytut Badawczy (Central Institute for
Labour Protection and the Institute for Research in Poland)
held a seminar on “How to improve the system for increasing
awareness of occupational health and safety”, during which
the social campaign “A safe workplace” was introduced.
ITURRI Poland, together with other partners, received a
diploma for their work on increasing levels of information
about the existence of risks in the workplace, and for
promoting ways of protection from these risks.

El 9 de diciembre de 2011, CIOP-PIB Pracy Ochrony Centralny Instytut Państwowy Instytut Badawczy (Instituto Central para la Protección del
Trabajo y para la Investigación en Polonia), celebró un seminario sobre
cómo “Mejorar el sistema de promoción e información en materia de
salud y seguridad en el trabajo” durante el que se presentó la campaña
social titulada “Un lugar de trabajo seguro”.
ITURRI Polonia, junto con el resto de socios, recibió un diploma por
trabajar en aumentar la conciencia de la existencia de riesgos en el
lugar de trabajo, así como potenciar la manera de protegerse contra
ellos.
En 2011 se comenzó a desarrollar esta herramienta, que se ha continuado mejorando hasta su
lanzamiento. Siempre gracias a los datos
aportados por los clientes del Grupo ITURRI
y dentro de los diferentes mercados en los
que destaca ITURRI-Group con la colaboración de los fabricantes.
Esta herramienta pretende simplificar el
proceso de selección del tipo de guante
adecuado para cada lugar de trabajo. También aspira a crear una serie de estándares
básicos detallando los usos más frecuentes

(especialmente los guantes).

para el mercado alemán, el mayor y más desarrollado de Europa.

The accident rate outside the workplace was six times higher
than the occupational accident rate and more than double
the figures recorded for traffic accidents. In spite of this,
news coverage and the detailed records kept on these types
of accident are lower.
At the ITURRI Group we intend to look at these domestic
environments, because obviously no-one has an accident
on purpose. As a result of the ITURRI Group’s daily relations
with the fire brigade we have learnt much about Safety. For
example, how to act in the event of one of the most difficult
types of fire to put out: burning oil.

We are all aware of the general procedures in the event of
this type of fire: DO NOT USE WATER. However, we would
like to offer some advice to help prevent the accident from
becoming worse:

If you do not know exactly what to do, EVACUATE the
area of the fire and CALL THE FIRE BRIGADE for them to
extinguish the fire.

Las cifras de accidentalidad no laboral alcanzan cotas seis veces
superiores a las de los accidentes en el trabajo y más del doble de los
registrados en accidentes de tráfico. A pesar de ello, la repercusión
informativa y el registro detallado de este tipo de accidentes son
menores.

Acciona Energía contracts the services of Laitu Solar for
the Palma del Río plants
ACCIONA
Laitu Solar, a company owned by the ITURRI Group and
the Dominguis Group, is responsible for the cleaning and
maintenance of two of the five solar thermal plants managed
by Acciona Energía in Spain: Palma del Río I and Palma del
Río II (Cordoba).
INDUSTRIA
Commissioned in the last quarter of 2010 and with a power of
50 MW, Palma del Río II was the second solar thermal plant built
by Acciona in Spain and the first in Andalusia.
Adjacent to the plant, the company built another
plant with the same power capacity, Palma del
Río I, which was connected in July 2011.
ACCIONA
In order to improve the performance of these
plants, Acciona Energía has confided in the Valent®
cleaning system, characterised as being the only system on
the market to use parabolic-shaped rotating brushes and a
pressurised water system, both fully integrated, to achieve
effective cleaning of the surface of the parabolic cylinder
collector (PCC) and the absorber tube in the solar thermal plants.
With this cleaning system, the solar panels reach a reflectivity
level of more than 99.7%, the highest in the market.
This system responds to one of the primordial objectives of
Acciona Energía, that of sustainability, as it achieves high
levels of effectiveness with minimum water consumption.
With respect to the foreign market, this contract is one step
further forwards for Laitu Solar in their business strategy:
use the Valent® cleaning technology and demonstrate the
leadership of the name in the market.
In addition, this may represent yet another opportunity for
development at international level. Acciona Energía, present in
more than 20 countries, 14 of which had operating installations,
wishes to test the innovative cleaning system in the USA.

REPSOL Coruña refinery purchases
pumping equipment similar to that used
to cool the Fukushima power plant
REPSOL CORUÑA
The Repsol Coruña refinery has recently purchased Hytrans Hydrosub pumping equipment
to strengthen their capacity for response in the event of an emergency.
Each of the units consists of a floating pump operated by a hydraulic plant, which in turn
is powered by a diesel motor. These pumps have been specially designed for pumping
water from a dam, river or from the sea and are able to drive the flow required to supply
the specific high flow fire-fighting methods included in the MIRU Project (Major Incidents
Response Units).

Delivery of fire-fighting vehicle for Cienfuegos
petrochemical pole (Cuba)
CIENFUEGOS
The official delivery of a 4000 litre fire tanker manufactured
by the ITURRI Group for the Cienfuegos petrochemical pole
took place last December (Cuba).
The ITURRI Group has supplied the equipment, the
first of their kind purchased by the REPSOL Group.
They complement the high operating capacities of
the MIRU methods and offer autonomy and versatility
with respect to water supplies in the event of the
failure or inadequacy of fixed pumping stations.
In addition, they are recognised all over the world,
having demonstrated their efficiency in incidents
with a major impact such as the fires in the Buncefield
tanks (the United Kingdom) and the cooling of the
reactor at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Station
(Japan).
In February, specialist technicians from Hytrans
offered training in the maintenance and use of the
equipment to personnel from the Maintenance,
Maritime Terminal and Safety Departments. Members
of the A Coruña fire brigade also attended, as part
of the combined training activities established in the
Collaboration Agreement between the Refinery and
A Coruña City Council.
The training included practical exercises consisting
in taking up seawater from the breakwater at low
tide and sending it to a MIRU pressurised pump for
the supply of a 10,000 gpm (37,800 lpm) jet. The
water reached the pressure and flows required for
optimum operation.

El Grupo ITURRI ha suministrado estos equipos, que son los primeros de este tipo
adquiridos por el Grupo REPSOL. Complementan las altas capacidades de actuación de
los medios MIRU y les confieren autonomía y versatilidad en cuanto a la alimentación
de agua en escenarios de fallo o insuficiencia de los centros de bombeo fijos.
Además, gozan de reconocimiento en todo el mundo tras haber demostrado su
eficacia en incidentes de gran repercusión como los incendios en los tanques de
Buncefield (Reino Unido) y el enfriamiento del reactor de la Central Nuclear de
Fukushima (Japón).
En el mes de febrero, técnicos especialistas de Hytrans impartieron formación en
mantenimiento y utilización de los equipos a personal propio de Mantenimiento,
Terminal Marítimo y Seguridad. Asistieron también miembros del Cuerpo de bomberos
de A Coruña, en el marco de actividades de entrenamiento
conjunto recogidas en el Acuerdo de Colaboración entre la
Refinería y el Ayuntamiento de A Coruña.
La formación incluyó la realización de ejercicios
prácticos que consistieron en la aspiración de
agua de mar desde la escollera en bajamar y en
enviar el agua a una bomba presurizadora MIRU
para alimentar desde ésta al cañón de 10.000
gpm (37.800lpm). El agua alcanzó la
presión y el caudal que se requería
para su óptimo funcionamiento.
The Cienfuegos region is one of the most industrially active
areas of Cuba and future projects for the zone include the
enlargement of the existing refinery. This implies an increase
in capacity from 65,000 to 150,000 barrels and a new liquefied
gas plant.

Cienfuegos.
The vehicle keys were delivered to
the refinery’s Head of Command,
Mayor Lázaro Sedeño and to José
Ramón Triana, commercial manager
of the joint company formed from the Cuban petrochemical
firm and the Venezuelan CUVEMPEQ. Luis Alfredo Requena,
commercial manager for BDC, who represent the ITURRI Group
in Cuba, was responsible for the delivery. This was followed
by a demonstration given by the fire brigade command to
demonstrate the operating capacity of the tanker, discharging
water using the fire monitor and the hoses.
The fire tanker will form part of the
fleet at the refinery fire station and
is expected to service the future
petrochemical installation at Cienfuegos.
The ceremony ended with the signing of the Certificates
of Reception and Compliance with the agreements of the
Source Inspection and the driver training. This training was
given in Cuba prior to delivery of the vehicle.
Also present at the ceremony were Ramón Curapeaca,
Manager of the Cienfuegos Refinery on behalf of Venezuela,
Luis García, Technical Director of the refinery and LieutenantColonel Daniel Chávez Fujichiro, Chief of the Cienfuegos Fire
Brigade.

El pasado diciembre se produjo la entrega
oficial de un camión autocisterna de 4.000
litros fabricado por el Grupo ITURRI para el
polo petroquímico de Cienfuegos (Cuba).
La región de Cienfuegos es una de las más activas industrialmente de Cuba y cuenta entre
sus futuros proyectos con la ampliación de la
actual refinería. Esto significa un incremento
de la capacidad de 65.000 a 150.000 barriles
y una nueva planta de gas licuado.
Este camión autocisterna se integra dentro
del parque de bomberos de la refinería y está previsto que dé servicio
a la futura instalación petroquímica de Cienfuegos.
Las llaves del vehículo se entregaron al jefe de Comando de la Refinería,
el Mayor Lázaro Sedeño y a José Ramón Triana, gerente comercial de la
empresa mixta Petroquímica Cubana y Venezolana CUVEMPEQ. Luis Alfredo Requena, responsable comercial de la compañía BDC, que representa al Grupo ITURRI en Cuba, fue el encargado de hacer la entrega.
El camión autocisterna se integra dentro
del parque de bomberos de la refinería y
está previsto que dé servicio a la futura
instalación petroquímica de Cienfuegos.
Posteriormente el comando de bomberos de la refinería realizó una
demostración de la capacidad operativa del camión, disparando con
el monitor y las mangueras.
El acto finalizó con la firma de las Actas de Recepción Técnica y de
Cumplimiento de los acuerdos de la Inspección en Origen y de formación de conductores. Esta formación fue impartida en Cuba antes de
la entrega del vehículo.
Asistieron también al acto Ramón Curapeaca, Gerente de la Refinería
de Cienfuegos por parte de Venezuela, Luis García, Director técnico
de la refinería y el Teniente Coronel Daniel Chávez Fujichiro, Jefe del
Cuerpo de Bomberos de Cienfuegos.

Michelin has been a customer of the ITURRI Group for
approximately two years, with excellent results. During this
period their PPE selection process was analysed, by studying
the prevention and purchasing areas.
Michelin gave the ITURRI Group the opportunity to find out
more and to form part of the glove selection process, with
two objectives: operator safety and quality and coherence of
the final product, the tyres that move our vehicles.
Nowadays, the majority of operators involved in the
manufacture of a Michelin tyre use fine leather gloves
(EN388: 2121). These gloves have been tested in a complex
series of tests in the laboratory and on site at the factories. As
many as 500,000 pairs are used per year in Europe.

Michelin brindó la oportunidad al Grupo ITURRI de profundizar y formar parte del proceso de selección del surtido de guantes, con dos propósitos: seguridad de los operarios y calidad y coherencia del producto
final, o sea, los neumáticos que hacen que nuestros vehículos circulen.
Hoy en día, la mayor parte de los operarios involucrados en la fabricación de una rueda Michelin utilizan guantes de cuero fino (EN388:
2121). Estos guantes han sido validados a través de una compleja batería de pruebas tanto en laboratorios como in situ en las fábricas. Su
consumo en Europa alcanza los 500.000 pares anuales.
Son guantes que hacen historia, cada operario en su primer día de
trabajo recibe un par de guantes de este tipo.

Over the years new technologies have emerged that have
enabled us to reduce our dependence on leather-based
products and therefore reduce costs.
At the start of 2011 Michelin, with the help of the ITURRI
Group, began to look for alternatives. The ITURRI Group
decided to work with Honeywell as a key collaborator in
the project for a number of reasons. These included the
certainty that our collaborator had access to all the tools
required to meet the demanding quality requirements of
our customer. The ITURRI Group needed to collaborate with
a glove manufacturer able to guarantee total control of the
manufacturing process from start to end, in addition to being
available worldwide.
Honeywell was the obvious choice. In addition, they needed
to be creative and to look for ways of replacing the glove in
question with a multipurpose solution with added value.

The ITURRI Group decided to make an in-depth analysis of
two types of glove, both excellent alternatives in terms of
dexterity and in the increased levels of protection (resistant
to cuts). The products selected were the Honeywell PU First
Grey (EN388: 4121) and the Perfect Cutting Grey(EN388:
4342).
When deciding on the PPE to be used in contact with the
raw materials of a tyre (that is: rubber, textiles and metal
subproducts) Michelin turned to the experience of their
product specifiers based in Clermont-Ferrand. Each section
of Michelin has their own product specifiers (light vehicles,
trucks, aviation, etc).

A la hora de elegir los EPI que se van a utilizar en contacto con las
materias primas de una rueda (es decir: caucho, textiles y subproductos
del metal) Michelin se sirve de los conocimientos de especificadores
ubicados en Clermont-Ferrand. Cada sección de Michelin tiene sus
propios especificadores (vehículos ligeros, camiones, aviónica, etc).

Harsco Metals has been confiding in the ITURRI Group as
suppliers of their technical clothing for a year.
Always at the fore in the search for solutions for their
customers, ITURRI is working on the design of new technical
garments: Trousers, Jacket and two-colour overalls, with
flame resistant reflective strips to provide protection
against fire (EN 11612) and during welding work and similar
techniques (EN 11611). These garments were presented at
A+A 2012 (Dusseldorf).

Mapa, a global partner of the ITURRI Group, is a leading name
around the world in the manufacture of protective gloves. A
team of commercial experts from the Cologne office of the
ITURRI Group has analysed, in collaboration with the technical
team from Mapa in Germany, the results obtained by the
range of cut-resistant gloves from Mapa.
In this analysis, Mapa highlighted the voluntary trials of the
ISO 13997 together with the obligatory trials of the EN388.
The ISO 13997 is a test that permits the resistance to cutting
to be measured in a more specific and realistic manner (using
weights and forces applied to the blade).
To give an example, the new Krytech 586, level 5 in the EN388,
produced a result of 18 N (1835 g) in the ISO 13997 test

the EN388, gave a result of 19 N (1937 g).
The Krytech range from Mapa is tested with both tests with
excellent results, allowing us to guarantee our customers the
correct choice of glove depending on the intended use (light

técnicos comerciales de la delegación del Colonia del Grupo ITURRI
ha analizado, junto con el equipo técnico de Mapa en Alemania, los
resultados obtenidos por la gama de guantes anti corte de Mapa.
En este análisis, Mapa destacó los ensayos voluntarios de la ISO 13997
junto a los obligatorios de la EN388. La ISO 13997 es un ensayo que
permite medir la resistencia al corte de forma más específica y realista
(con pesos y fuerzas ejercidos sobre la cuchilla).
Por poner un ejemplo, el nuevo krytech 586 con un nivel 5 en la EN388,
nos da un resultado de 18N (1835 g) en la ISO 13997 mientras que el
krytech 576 también de nivel 5 al corte en388, nos da 19N (1937 g).
La gama krytech de Mapa está ensayada con ambos test y da excelentes
resultados que permiten garantizar a nuestros clientes la correcta
elección del guante necesario según la aplicación (manipulación
ligera, trabajos pesados, etc). Clientes que provienen de sectores tan

The LYNX is an innovative alternative to
urban vehicles working in difficult rural
environments.
This multiservice vehicle has a 170 hp 3-litre twin-turbo Fiat
Powertrain engine in parallel with 400 Nm of torque, which
complies with the Euro 5 standard, perfect for off-road work.
It has a maximum load capacity of 6.5 tonnes. The structure
is designed to be truly multifunctional, able to cope with the
most demanding conditions in any type of activity requiring
extreme driving styles.
It is therefore the ideal vehicle for the ambulance, fire-fighting
and civil protection services and for the military. It is also
perfect for municipal waste collection services, salt spreaders
and snow ploughs, and for use in construction work as a crane
carrier, for distribution, etc.

New LYNX vehicle for
fire-fighting
On 16 November the new Lynx fire-fighting vehicle was
presented to the specialised press, professionals from the
Emergency Services and fire brigades from different areas of
Spain.

The conference took place in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), at the
installations belonging to the National Institute for Aerospace
Technique (INTA). Here, guests were able to see, and test,
at first hand the new fire-fighting vehicle assembled by the
ITURRI Group on the chassis of a Bremach T-Rex (Tyrannosaurus
Rex) model, equipped with an Allison automatic gearbox.
El pasado 16 de noviembre tuvo lugar la presentación del nuevo vehículo contra incendios Lynx ante la prensa especializada, ante los profesionales de los Servicios de Emergencia y los bomberos de diferentes
zonas de España.
The new vehicle was tested on the off-road trails. Guests were
able to experience the speed and smoothness of the automatic
gears and the power, speed and lightness of a vehicle assembled
using EcoPolyFire® technology, an innovative plastic material
which is fully recyclable and eco-friendly. It was developed by
the ITURRI Group.
This material is lighter, more resistant and tougher. It also
introduces the new concept of a mono-bloc body making
the vehicle more compact, lighter and easier to handle in any
environment. In addition, in the case of fire-fighting vehicles
such as this, the bodywork of the Lynx permits the use of a
water tank with greater capacity.

Thanks to its narrow chassis, just 170 cm, the T-Rex is a
formidable vehicle for rescue and support work in natural
disasters such as earthquakes and floods. It is fast and powerful
for navigating debris, moving inside tunnels and other areas,
such as railway lines, where access may be complicated. It can
operate in a range of temperatures from -25° to +60° and
always offers total safety, performance and reliability.

El acto tuvo lugar en Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), en las instalaciones
del Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA). Allí los invitados
pudieron conocer de primera mano, y también probar, el nuevo vehículo contra incendios carrozado por el Grupo ITURRI sobre el chasis del
modelo T-Rex (Tiranosaurio Rex) de Bremach y equipado con caja de
cambios automática Allison.
En las pistas 4x4 donde se realizaron las pruebas del nuevo vehículo,
los invitados pudieron comprobar en persona tanto la rapidez y suavidad de los cambios automáticos como la potencia, agilidad y ligereza
de un vehículo carrozado en la tecnología EcoPolyFire ®, innovador
material plástico que es 100% reciclable y respetuoso con el medio
ambiente. Ha sido desarrollado por el Grupo ITURRI.
Este material es más ligero, resistente y duradero. Introduce además un
nuevo concepto de carrocería monobloque que hace al vehículo más
compacto, ligero y maniobrable en cualquier entorno. Por otra parte,
en el caso de vehículos contra incendios como el presentado, el carrozado del Lynx permite una mayor capacidad de la cisterna del agua.

The Allison transmission offers a maximum starting capacity
on any terrain, with a vehicle acceleration, higher and faster
than other vehicles with manual or automatic gearboxes. The
torque converter supplies continuous power to the wheels
without interrupting the traction, thus enabling the vehicles

lot of time in the starts.
In urban zones, the major advantage of Allison is the increased

the truck, with a reduced risk of overturning due to the lower
centre of gravity and a larger minimum rollover angle than

the all-terrain performance is improved when escaping from

Delivery of the FMOGP vehicle for the French electricity
company EDF
EDF
On 3 February, the keys of the FMOGP vehicle, manufactured
by the ITURRI Group, were officially handed to the SDIS55
(French Fire Brigade) for the French electricity company, EDF.
The chairman of the SDIS55 made a handsome presentation
of the vehicle before the French Ministry of Defence, Gérard
Longuet.

Verde airports. The project is financed with Development
Aid Funds from the Spanish Government to strengthen the
Cape Verde airport infrastructures and boost their economy,
particularly in the transport and tourism sectors.
The ceremony was attended by leading figures from both
countries who have taken part in the project: the Minister of
Transport for Cape Verde, the Director of ASA, the Spanish
Ambassador and the Director General of the ITURRI Group.
The vehicles are state-of-the-art and cover the different
requirements of emergency work which may arise in an
airport: rescue and release, command and control, firefighting and prevention. The third and final delivery of
four additional vehicles is expected to take place in the
forthcoming months and will complete the project.
The ITURRI Group will continue to offer technical aid so that
ASA can keep the vehicles operational in the event of an
emergency, thus helping the Cape Verde airports to comply
with the most stringent international safety standards.

An official ceremony for the delivery of 14 fire-fighting and
rescue vehicles to the Cape Verde airports took place on 19
January.
This is the second delivery, part of an overall project for 21
fire-fighting and rescue vehicles, thanks to a contract signed
between ASA (Airport and Aviation Safety) and the ITURRI
Group. These vehicles guarantee the safety of passengers,

Esta es la segunda entrega realizada en el marco de un proyecto global
de 21 vehículos contra incendios y de rescate, gracias a un contrato firmado entre ASA y el Grupo ITURRI. Estos vehículos garantizarán la seguridad
de los pasajeros, tripulantes y personal ante cualquier emergencia en los
aeropuertos caboverdianos. El proyecto ha sido financiado con Fondos
de Ayuda al Desarrollo del Gobierno de España para reforzar las infraestructuras aeroportuarias de Cabo Verde y dar así un gran impulso a
su economía, especialmente desde los sectores del transporte y turismo.
Al acto acudieron las personalidades más relevantes de ambos países que han intervenido en el proyecto: el Ministro de Transportes de
Cabo Verde, el Director de ASA, el Embajador de España y el Director
General del Grupo ITURRI.
Los vehículos entregados son de última generación y cubren las diversas necesidades de intervención en emergencias que pueden producirse en un aeropuerto: rescate y excarcelación, comando y control,
prevención y lucha contra incendios. En los próximos meses está prevista la tercera y última entrega de 4 vehículos adicionales, con lo que
se completará el proyecto.
El Grupo ITURRI seguirá prestando un servicio de asistencia técnica
continua con el objetivo de que ASA pueda mantener los vehículos
siempre operativos ante cualquier emergencia, ayudando con ello a
los aeropuertos de Cabo Verde a cumplir con los más elevados estándares internacionales de seguridad.

ITURRI Group to supply uniforms to the Navy for
the next 3 years
THE SPANISH NAVY
The ITURRI Group has started work on the manufacture of
a flight jacket with membrane, as part of the first annual
delivery of the Multiannual Clothing Contract 2012-2015. A
contract awarded by the Spanish Navy-Ministry of Defence at
the end of 2011.
DEFENSA
The first delivery includes garments such as overalls for
armoured vehicles (arid pixelated camouflage flame resistant
fabric), the winter flight underwear kit (in sage-green
Coolwork fabric), the already classic flame resistant marine
jacket (DuPont™ Nomex® fabrics), the polar windstopper
jacket (previously supplied) (WINDSTOPPER® “Nemo” by
GORE, present in Industry and Emergency projects), vessel wet
suit (made of orange RKN with ceramic Cordura) and several
garments including the Flight Jacket with Membrane.
ARMADA ESPAÑOLA
The flight jacket worn by Navy
helicopter and aircraft pilots is made
of a total of five fabrics, all of which
are fire-proof, forming a protective
sandwich against fire , wind and water.
The flight jacket, used by Navy helicopter and aircraft pilots, is
worn during the exterior inspection of the aircraft prior to the
flight, and is made from a total of five fabrics, all of which are
flame resistant, and which form a protective sandwich against
fire, wind and water. A description is given of the five fabrics
from the outer shell to the inner lining.
The outer fabric is a sage-green twill A+Panther PC 185, the
new development from Estambril-DuPont™, made from 93%
DuPont™ Nomex®, 5% DuPont™ Kevlar® and 2% antistatic
fibre.
The membrane, inserted loose between the outer shell and
the lining, is a Diana Comfort 80 AQ, with 12% hydrophilic
monolithic polyester.

los próximos 3 años
El Grupo ITURRI pone en marcha la fabricación de la cazadora de vuelo con membrana, en el marco de la primera anualidad del Contrato
Plurianual de Vestuario 2012-2015. Un expediente adjudicado por la
Armada Española-Ministerio de Defensa a finales de 2011.
Esta primera anualidad incluye prendas como el mono de vehículos
acorazados (en tejido ignífugo mimético pixelado árido), el conjunto
de ropa interior de invierno para vuelo (en tejido Coolwork de punto verde salvia), el ya clásico chaquetón de mar ignífugo (tejidos DuPont™ Nomex®), la también suministrada anteriormente chaqueta
polar cortavientos (en tejido WINDSTOPPER® “Nemo” de GORE, presente en proyectos de Industria y Emergencias), el traje de agua para
buques (confeccionado en tejido RKN naranja y corduras cerámicas) y
varias prendas más entre las que se encuentra la Cazadora de Vuelo
con Membrana.
La cazadora de vuelo que emplean los pilotos
de helicópteros y de aviones de la Armada
está formada por un total de cinco tejidos,
todos ignífugos, que forman un “sandwich”
de protección contra el fuego, contra el
viento y contra el agua.
Esta cazadora de vuelo, que emplean los usuarios (pilotos de helicópteros y aviones de la Armada) en la revisión exterior de la aeronave
previa al vuelo, está formada por un total de cinco tejidos, todos ignífugos, que forman un “sandwich” de protección contra el fuego,
contra el viento y contra el agua. Veamos estos cinco tejidos de fuera
hacia dentro de la prenda.
Como tejido exterior se emplea una sarga color verde salvia A+Panther
PC 185, que es nuevo desarrollo de Estambril-DuPont™, y de composición 93% DuPont™ Nomex®, 5% DuPont™ Kevlar® y 2% de fibra
antiestática.
The lining is a A+Panther PD 150 fabric, which supports the
membrane and is orange-coloured to help to locate the user
in the event of an accident, if the user is able to remove the
garment and put it back on inside out.
A new feature of the garment, which the ITURRI Group has
supplied to the Navy on other occasions, is the removable
thermal barrier. This is a vest, fastened to the jacket by a single
zip inside the main garment, made of two layers of orange
A+Panther PC 110 fabric filled with flame retardant Thinsulate
FR 120 batting.
Lastly there is the flame resistant ribbed fabric around the
cuffs and waist of the garment, DuPont™ Nomex® Comfort
N307, 475 grams, with 93% DuPont™ Nomex® in sage green
to match the outer shell of the jacket.
Five new flame resistant fabrics in one single very comfortable
garment, to protect the pilots of the Spanish Navy against fire
and adverse weather conditions.
La membrana, que se inserta suelta entre el tejido exterior y el forro,
es un Diana Comfort 80 AQ, con un 12% de poliéster monolítico hidrofílico.
El forro es un tejido A+Panther PD 150, da soporte a la membrana y
es de color naranja para ayudar a la localización del usuario caso de
siniestro, si éste tiene ocasión de quitarse la prenda y ponérsela del
revés.
Como novedad en esta prenda, que ya ha sido suministrada anteriormente por el Grupo ITURRI a la Armada, está la barrera térmica
desmontable. Se trata de un chaleco, encastrado mediante cremallera
única en el interior de la prenda principal, formado por dos capas de
tejido también color naranja A+Panther PC 110 que albergan en su interior un relleno de guata ignífuga Thinsulate FR 120 flame retardant.
Por último encontramos el tejido ignífugo de construcción canalé para
puños y cinturilla de la prenda DuPont™ Nomex® Comfort N307, de
475 gramos, con un 93% de DuPont™ Nomex® y en verde salvia a
tono con el exterior de la cazadora.
Cinco novedosos tejidos ignífugos en una sola prenda, muy cómoda,
para proteger a los pilotos de la Armada Española tanto del fuego
como de las inclemencias meteorológicas.

On this special day our own “Cantajuegos” prepared lots of
activities, including the a Wishing Tree, a Christmas mural,
a ride in a fire engine,...all of which helped to pass the time
while waiting for the arrival of the Three Wise Men.
They arrived at last on board a splendid PROTEC-FIRE
engine, and children and adults enjoyed an unforgettable

A group from Seville formed in 2007 by musicians from other
areas of expertise born between Seville and Bilbao who
found common grounds in music. The members, Paul Rivas,
Jorge Martín, José Luis Romero and Javier Tovar have a long
career (Loscomotoras, Souffle, El Paso, El Hombre Molécula,
Glubb.) on stage and, after an essential break, have returned
to the stage with this new project.
Not only have they managed to broadcast a powerful sound
live but also the pleasure of enjoying rock music at the hands
of four rock musicians brought together by friendship and a
common interest. Their music, chiefly consisting of original
tracks, is complemented with very personal versions of classic
songs, ranging from southern rock and pop-rock to Cuban
music, but always in the universal language of Rock.

Han conseguido transmitir en directo no sólo fuerza sonora, sino
además el placer de disfrutar del rock a manos de cuatro músicos
unidos también por la amistad y la complicidad. Su propuesta hecha
de temas originales en su mayoría, se completa con versiones muy
personales de clásicos, que van desde el rock sureño y el pop-rock
hasta incluso el son cubano, siempre en el idioma universal del Rock.

They have been influenced, on the one hand, by the
musician from Bilbao, Paul Rivas, who came to the group
from a background based around the Stones, Creedence
CWR and Black Crowes. Jorge Martín’s compositions,
reminiscent of Velvet Underground and the Beatles from the
LSD era, have also found a niche. José Luis Romero, on the
bass guitar, tackles the history of Soul and travels between
World Music, Jazz and alternative rock. On the drums, Javier
Tovar has experience of the great stages and has played the
essence of rock and roll; from Tequila to the Rolling Stones.
Their music stems from ideas which have been adapted
and polished up during rehearsals, sometimes after major
arguments and other times in total agreement. Time and
work have led to a repertoire of consolidated Rock & Roll
and a somewhat more personal touch. Rock and love songs.
The start of 2012 saw the birth, after a long gestation
period, of their first album “Despierta Janis” in which their
strength on stage is confirmed. An album with eight tracks
full of energy, feeling and originality created by the quartet.
Each of the songs contains the essence of the group and
has been put together with self-commitment but without
external pressures, as they have been produced by Despierta
Janis.
Sus influencias provienen, de un lado, de la cabeza del bilbaíno
Paul Rivas, que aporta a esta enriquecedora coctelera unos orígenes
bañados en los Stones, La Creedence CWR o Black Crowes. También
tienen sitio las composiciones de Jorge Martín, con reminiscencias de
la Velvet Underground y los más lisérgicos Beatles. José Luis Romero
borda al bajo la historia del Soul y navega entre la World Music, el
Jazz y el rock alternativo. La batería de Javier Tovar ha conocido los
grandes escenarios y ha interpretado toda la esencia del rock and
roll; desde Tequila a Rolling Stones.
Las composiciones provienen de ideas adaptadas y pulidas en el local
de ensayo, unas veces con duelos al sol y otras con total unanimidad.
El tiempo y el trabajo han modelado un repertorio de consolidado
Rock&Roll y alguna propuesta más personal. Canciones de rock y amor.
A principios de 2012 nace, tras una larga gestación, su primer trabajo
discográfico “Despierta Janis” en el que plasman fielmente su fuerza
en los escenarios. Un disco con ocho canciones llenas de energía,
sentimiento y originalidad paridas por este cuarteto. Cada una de
las canciones contiene la esencia del grupo y están edificadas con
autoexigencia pero sin presiones externas, ya que están producidas
por Despierta Janis.
