pronunciadas altitudes y formas geológicas, han dado
lugar a destinos perfectos para el esquí y otra serie de
deportes invernales.

BIG BEAR MOUNTAIN RESORT
Este es uno de los centros de esquí más populares en el
sur de California. Aquí existen las pistas más grandes en
extensión de esa zona que, además, ofrecen a los que no
gustan del esquí o de los deportes de invierno una serie
de tirolesas que operan todo el año y ofrecen esa energía
llena de adrenalina que implica la velocidad y la altitud.
MOUNTAIN HIGH RESORT
Desde las alturas se puede tener una vista espectacular
del desierto de Mohave entre pinos y nieve. Las pistas de
este sitio ofrecen descuentos que la convierten en una
de las regiones más económicas para esquiar durante
el invierno.
SNOW VALLEY
Rumbo a las montañas de San Bernardino se encuentra
este valle con más de 14 elevadores a las pistas. Las
hay para principiantes y para profesionales. El resort
más importante ofrece paquetes familiares, donde se
enseña a los pequeños los primeros pasos del esquí y
del snowboarding.
Lo asombroso de este valle es que en poco tiempo se
puede descender hasta la playa Margarita, sin nieve y con

MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN
Las pistas de esquí son asombrosas y no es necesario
pernoctar ahí, pues los vuelos regionales pueden llevar
a una familia entera por la mañana y regresarla a San
Diego por la tarde a costos moderados. Una experiencia
distinta el volar y esquiar en el mismo día.

United States are covered in snow so that both skiing amateurs
and professionals can spend hours of fun
Close to San Diego, California, there are a series of mountain
ranges originating at San Andreas Fault with high elevations and
steep inclines, which create the perfect winter setting for skiing and
other seasonal sports.

Desde finales de noviembre hasta mediados de abril, las montañas de Nuevo
México se cubren de nieve y se convierten
en grandes centros de esquí.
El lugar más famoso para esquiar
es Taos Ski Valley, el cual se enorgullece
de ser un lugar en el que los esquiadores
se desafían a sí mismos gracias al pico
Kachina, que tiene 3 mil 800 metros de
altitud. Desde lo más alto de Taos Ski
Valley se puede ver el estado de Colorado. El teleférico de este sitio es uno de
los más altos de los Estados Unidos, así

que quien decide subir no tiene más opción que bajar con los esquís puestos y
toda la adrenalina por delante.
Muy cerca de la ciudad de Albuquerque, se encuentra Sandia Peak Ski &
Tramway. Antes de comenzar a esquiar, es
recomendable tomar el famoso teleférico
que conduce sobre cañones hasta un
mirador a más de 3 mil metros de altura
y disfrutar de increíbles escenarios; ya en
la cima se puede alquilar equipo de esquí
y snowboards para recorrer las pistas o
tomar clases. Los más pequeños podrán
permanecer en un área especial en donde
se divertirán al máximo.
Otra opción es Angel Fire Resort,
uno de los complejos más familiares del
norte de Nuevo México, a menos de 40
minutos de Taos, que ofrece especialmente pistas para principiantes e intermedios.
Es una emocionante colina para deslizarse
cuesta abajo a gran velocidad en llantas y
trineos, mientras los más experimentados pasan horas en los parques exclusivos
para realizar trucos y saltos de esquí. Uno
de los privilegios de este lugar es poder
esquiar de noche bajo el cielo estrellado.
Si después de recorrer estos lugares
aún queda energía, es propicio visitar
Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort, este lugar
tiene una de las temporadas de esquí más
largas de Nuevo México. La nieve cubre
numerosas áreas que se convierten en
pistas de esquí y snowboarding. Las cabañas hacen las veces de departamentos,
cabinas, suites y hoteles. Otras experiencias que se pueden vivir en este sitio son:
practicar ciclismo en nieve o alquilar una
casa rodante para pasar la noche.

November to mid-April, turning into large ski resorts.
The most popular skiing destination is Taos Ski Valley, which
prides itself in being the most challenging location for skiers, thanks
to the 12,400 foot-high Kachina peak. You can take in views of the
state of Colorado from high above Taos Ski Valley, and the lift is one
of the highest in the US, so if you decide to go up, you have no choice
but to descend with your skis secured and the adrenaline pushing
you all the way down.
Close to Albuquerque you’ll find Sandia Peak Ski & Tramway;
and before you go skiing you should take the famous lift that takes
you high above the canyon to a 9,800 foot high observatory where
you will get an amazing view, and you can rent skiing and snowboarding equipment to go down the tracks or get some lessons from
professional trainers. There are special areas for children so that they
too can have lots of fun.
Another option is the Angel Fire Resort, one of the most popular
complexes in northern New Mexico, 40 minutes away from Taos,
featuring mainly beginner to intermediate slopes. It is an exciting
downhill for snow bikes and sleds, while experts can spend hours
doing jumps and acrobatics at the park. A nice thing about this
place is that you can ski at night, lit by the starry sky.
If you still have energy left after visiting these places, you should
visit the Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort, which features one of the
longest ski seasons in New Mexico. Snow takes overs lots ski and
snowboarding tracks. Numerous cabins, suites and hotels welcome
all visitors, and other experiences to be had here are snow biking, or
renting an RV to spend the night.
BEAR MOUNTAIN RESORT
This is one of the most popular ski resorts in Southern California,
featuring some of the longest tracks in the region, and if you don’t
like skiing or winter sports, there are a series of ziplines that are
open all year so you can enjoy the adrenaline
MOUNTAIN HIGH RESORT
It offers several lodges throughout the slopes and from high above,
you get spectacular views of the Mohave Desert. The tracks here
offer discounts and packages that place them among the cheapest
regions to ski during the winter.
SNOW VALLEY
This valley, featuring more than 14 ski lifts, is found on the route
to the San Bernardino Mountains. You’ll find everything from
amateur to professional tracks here. The main resort offers family
bundle packages so that children can also take their first steps in
skiing and snowboarding.
The amazing thing about this valley is how little time it takes
to descend towards Margarita Beach, which is free of snow and
has amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. It is two incredible settings
combined into one.
MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN
The ski tracks here are astonishing and you don’t have to stay for the
night, since regional flights can be cheap enough for an entire family
to arrive in the morning and return to San Diego in the evening; a
round flight and skiing on the same day can be quite the experience.

Ski season at Aspen

Aspen, found in western Colorado, is the most
popular skiing destination in the US among
both locals and foreign visitors. There are
enormous tracks with perfect snow thanks to
the fact that there are no oceans in thousands
of miles, making the air humidity very low. In
addition, the area is surrounded by huger
desert expanses, which further dry up the air,
and so the cold and dry weather provides the
ideal conditions for abundant, beautiful snow.
The majestic Maroon Bells Mountains in
Aspen offer four different skiing areas, all of
them connected to one another, that meet
all the expectations of winter sports lovers.
Aspen Mountain
The best of them all, it has more than 200
hectares for skiing, of which 65% is for advanced skiers and 35% for intermediates.
The highest elevation in Aspen Mountain is
11,212ft high, and the longest ski area is three
miles long. Most skiers prefer to ski close to
the mountain’s summit because the snow
and terrain there are the best in the area.
Snowmass
Snowmass has 79 runs and more than 10,000
hectares divided as follows: 38% for experts,
52% for intermediates, and 10% for beginners. The top elevation is 11,833ft high and
its longest run is 3.97 miles. It is considered to
be an excellent location of intermediate skiers,
with long, well-known tracks.

La ciudad de Aspen, ubicada en el oeste
del estado de Colorado, es el centro de
esquí de los Estados Unidos más solicitado
por locales y personas procedentes de
varias partes del mundo. Ya que cuenta
con enormes pistas para practicar esta
actividad y perfección en la nieve, la cual
se debe a que las masas oceánicas más
cercanas están a miles de kilómetros de
distancia, lo que hace que la humedad
del aire sea inferior. Además, la zona
está rodeada por enormes extensiones
desérticas, que secan aún más el aire,
por lo tanto, el clima frío y seco dan las
condiciones ideales para que haya nieve
en abundancia y no se congele.
Las majestuosas montañas Maroon
Bells de Aspen ofrecen cuatro áreas de
esquí –conectadas entre sí– para satisfacer las exigencias de los amantes de los
deportes de nieve:
Aspen Mountain
Es la más brillante de las cuatro. Posee
uenta con más de 200 hectáreas para
esquiar, de estas áreas 65 por ciento es
para avanzados y 35 para intermedios.
La parte más alta de Aspen Mountain
mide 4.8 kilometros y la pista más larga mide tres millas. La mayoría de los
esquiadores prefieren la cumbre de esta
montaña porque es la parte que tiene
la mejor nieve y el mejor terreno disponible.
Snowmass
La montaña de Snowmass tiene 79 pistas
y un terreno de más de 10 mil hectáreas
para tres tipos de esquiadores: 38 por
ciento avanzados, 52 por ciento intermedios y, principiantes, 10 por ciento. La
elevación más alta es de 3 mil 607 metros
y su recorrido más largo es 6 mil 400
metros snm. Se considera un lugar excelente para los esquiadores intermedios,
con largas pistas, que son muy conocidas.
Aspen Highland
Con 81 pistas las montañas de Highland
se consideran de alta dificultad: las más
de 242 hectáreas esquiables presentan
muchas curvas, caídas y árboles, por ello
son las preferidas de los esquiadores más
avanzados.

se forma de 47 por ciento para avanzados, 33 para intermedios y 20 para
principiantes.

Buttermilk
Es la montaña más pequeña de Aspen
y se considera la estación más fácil para
quienes quieren aprender a esquiar. Mide
3 mil metros de altura y tiene poco más
de 160 hectáreas de terreno.

The city has exclusive boutiques and
haute-cuisine, so don’t be surprised if
you see a few celebrities walking the
streets of Aspen enjoying the delightful
winter scenery.
When the Irish migrated to the United
States, they brought this folkloric tradition with them, and found that there
are more pumpkins than turnips here, so
they chose them instead for Halloween.

el deportista profesional más importante del momento

uando se habla de California –territorio más poblado de Estados Unidos,
situado en la costa suroeste del pacífico–,
en la cabeza de todos los amantes del golf
aparecen nombres de campos como:
Spyglass Hills, Indian Wells, Torrey Pines y
por supuesto, Pebble Beach Golf Links,
el más famoso y espectacular situado en el
condado de Monterey.
Sede en varias ocasiones del US Open
y anualmente del AT&T Pro-Am, ambos
torneos regidos por la PGA Tour (Professional Golf Association), el circuito golfístico
masculino más importante en el mundo.
Pebble Beach se ha convertido en un auténtico sueño americano para todos los
aficionados y experimentados en el deporte
de los bastones.
Aquí una entrevista con uno de los
jugadores más importantes del momento, promesa del deporte nacional, a quien

Actualmente tengo 24 años, soy ingeniero químico, egresado del Tecnológico de
Monterrey y aparte de mi carrera deportiva
soy ejecutivo de ventas de Galo Shipping,
empresa de logística y reexpedición de carga.
Cuando era más joven practicaba desde
buceo, hasta handball, y a los 11 años tuve
mi primer acercamiento con este deporte,
el cual te exige disciplina al cien por ciento.
¿QUÉ APORTACIONES BUENAS TE HA
DEJADO ESTE DEPORTE?
Me ha dado la capacidad de tomar decisiones importantes en mi vida, me da concentración, aparte de la oportunidad de poder
hacer relaciones dentro del campo. Algo
que me sirve mucho para desarrollarme y
crecer en el plano laboral en Galo Shipping.
.¿CUÁNDO DECIDISTE CONVERTIRTE
EN JUGADOR PROFESIONAL?
A partir del pasado mes de agosto. Mi primer
objetivo era debutar en la gira México Golf
Tour, la primera etapa fue en San Miguel de
Allende. Después vinieron más torneos en
Mazatlán, Campeche y otros, en los cuales
por fortuna me ha ido muy bien, de hecho
actualmente estoy entre los primeros 15
mejores jugadores de esa gira.
¿QUÉ CARACTERÍSTICAS TIENE EL
CAMPODEMADERAS,ENSANDIEGO?
Es uno de los mejores en California. Su grado de dificultad es mayor, comparado con
otros. Tiene aproximadamente 7 mil 100
yardas, los greens y fairways están en excelente
estado; ofrece increíbles paisajes y, por sus
características, es un desafío.

JUGARLO?
Obviamente me encantaría estar ahí algún
día. Es un campo muy famoso por los cliffs
(acantilados) y fondos marinos, donde el
aire juega un papel muy importante y sube
la dificultad. Sé que en un futuro no muy
lejano mi carrera me llevará a competir allá
y otros destinos del mundo.
COMO PROFESIONAL ¿CUÁLES SON
TUS PRÓXIMOS PLANES?
Estoy concentrado en las fechas que me
faltan por cumplir con la gira de México
Golf Tour. Y mi próximo objetivo es enfocarme y jugar PGA Latinoamérica, para
posteriormente comenzar la calificación
al PGA Tour, que es la máxima categoría a
la cual un golfista puede aspirar para representar a México, en el ámbito internacional.

A host of the US Open on numerous occasions, and annual host of the AT&T Pro-Am,
both part of the PGA Tour (the most important
men’s golfing championship in the world), Pebble
Beach has become an authentic “American
Dream” among both amateur and professional
golfers.
Currently one of the hottest up and coming
golfers, and a bright light among national sports,
we interviewed him as we will sure see him in the
podium of the most important national and
international tours very soon, including that of
Pebble Beach in California.
TELLS US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF
AND HOW YOU GOT STARTED IN GOLF
I am 24 years old, and I have an Engineering Degree in Chemistry from Tecnologico de Monterrey
(a Mexican university). In addition to my sports
career, I am a sales executive at Galo Shipping,
a logistics and shipping company. When I was
younger, I liked to practice everything from scuba
diving to handball. I first played golf when I was
11, and found that it requires absolute discipline.
WHAT HAS THIS SPORT GIVEN TO YOU?
It has given me the ability to make important life
decisions; the ability to concentrate, and the chance
to build relationships at the course. It has also helped
me grow and advance professionally at Galo Shipping.
WHEN DID YOU DECIDE TO GO PROFESSIONAL?
Only this past August. My first goal was to
debut at the Mexico Golf Tour; the first stage
was at San Miguel de Allende. Then came other
tournaments at Mazatlan, Campeche and other
places, where I have thankfully done well; as a
matter of fact, I am currently among the top 15
players in the tour.
WHAT IS THE MADERAS GOLF COURSE
IN SAN DIEGO LIKE?
It is one of the best in California, and it is more
difficult than most. It has approximately 7,100
yards of play, the greens and the fairways are in
excellent condition, the views are incredible and
its features make it quite a challenge.
ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH THE PEBBLE
BEACH GOLF LINKS?, WOULD YOU BE
INTERESTED IN PLAYING THERE?
Obviously, I would love to play there some day.
It is a very famous course thanks to its cliffs and
ocean currents, making air an important factor
to consider, which increases its difficulty. I know
that my career will take me there very soon, as
well as to other parts of the world.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS, AS A PROFESSIONAL?
I am currently focusing on the remaining competitions of the Mexico Golf Tour. After that, I
will focus on the Latin American PGA to then
try an qualify into the PGA Tour, which is the
ultimate competition a golfer from Mexico, such
as myself, could aspire to.

bríos, lo cual comienza a la media noche del 31 de
diciembre cuando escuchamos el sonar de las campanas
para recibir el Nuevo Año. Ese momento es tan especial, por
lo que muchos escogen lugares realmente representativos
para celebrar.
Estados Unidos tiene muchas opciones para festejar
esta gran fecha, en medio de fiestas, luces, desfiles, bailes
y cantos.
Nueva York
La ciudad de los rascacielos es una de las favoritas para
terminar el año. Miles de personas se congregan en el Times
Square para ver caer la famosa bola de cristal a la cuenta
de 10, 9, 8.. y disfrutar los fuegos artificiales, es en verdad
un espectáculo único.
Otra opción es gozar el espectáculo desde el Central
Park, alrededor de Bethesda Fountain.
Para los más deportistas, se recomienda participar en
el minimaratón nocturno que se lleva a cabo en Central
Park a la media noche.
Pasadena, California
Aquí se celebra una de las mejores fiestas de fin de año en
todo el país, con el famoso Desfile de las Rosas, una tradición
que continúa desde hace más de un siglo. Este colorido
espectáculo, con carrozas repletas de flores, congrega a miles
de personas el primer día del año, el desfile es temático y
cada año cuenta con un tema diferente.
Orlando
Este lugar, mágico por naturaleza, es el preferido de chicos
y grandes en esta temporada. Los parques de diversiones
iluminan la noche del 31 de diciembre y envuelven a toda
la ciudad en una fiesta de luces y alegría.
Los parques temáticos de Walt Disney World Resort: Magic Kingdom, Epcot y Hollywood Studios ofrecen

Aeromexico has announced that it will resume its
seasonal Mexico City-Denver service beginning
December 14.
The flight will offer daily service through
April 3, 2016.
The airline plans to add an additional frequency on Boeing 737-700s and 737-800s beginning
December 18 and ending January 11.
In this way, Aeromexico strengthens its service

VISA FOR RELIGIOUS WORKERS
I
ndependientemente de la religión que se profese,
los pastores, sacerdotes, ministros o guías de distintos
cultos suelen ir de un país a otro, sea para intercambios religiosos, misiones o simplemente porque la
jerarquía de su institución religiosa decidió que su
labor debe ejercerse en otro país.
Para el caso de los Estados Unidos, hay un
tipo de visado específico que el Departamento de
Estado denomina para trabajadores temporales religiosos. El tipo de visa es R y de ella se derivan dos, la
R1 que es para el ministro, sacerdote o pastor, y la R2
para la familia del mismo –en el caso de las religiones
que permiten que sus pastores tengan familia–.
Este visado tiene características particulares, entre ellas
por ejemplo, de acuerdo a la información oficial del
Departamento de Estado la emisión de visas R1 y R2
no tiene costo en México y la vigencia es de un año
según http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/
fees/reciprocity-by-country/MX.html
Los requisitos para acceder a este visado son: ser
miembro de la misma denominación religiosa en
la que estará trabajando en los Estados Unidos y
haberlo hecho por lo menos desde dos años antes
de la solicitud del visado. La organización religiosa en los Estados Unidos debe hacer una petición
por escrito para presentarse en la embajada o consulado en territorio mexicano. Tener planeado trabajar
únicamente como ministro religioso (sacerdote, pastor,
ministro) en los Estados Unidos. Que el empleador
sea una organización religiosa no lucrativa afiliada en
los canales religiosos legales en los Estados Unidos.
Trabajar por lo menos 20 horas a la semana para dicha
organización religiosa.
Es muy importante destacar que aquellos ministros, sacerdotes o pastores religiosos que planeen visitar
los Estados Unidos para atender una conferencia, una
reunión de culto, rezo, meditación o curso religioso no
formal, deberán ingresar a los Estados Unidos con una
visa de turista (B), siempre y cuando no laboren dentro
de la organización religiosa recibiendo un pago por
ello. Los viajes de misiones religiosas que no obtendrán
pago alguno, también deberán entrar al país portando
una visa de turista (B).
El proceso es básicamente el mismo que para cualquier
visado, llenar en línea el formato DS-160 https://ceac.
state.gov/genniv/ y acercarse al Centro de Atención a
Solicitantes (CAS) o al Consulado más cercano.
Es muy importante destacar que por no
tratarse de un visado común, hay que especificarlo al
momento de sacar una cita y llenar el formato en línea.

Regardless of the religion they profess, pastors, priests,
ministers or guides from a variety of beliefs usually travel
abroad for religious exchanges, in missionary roles or simply
because the leaders of their particular denomination have
decided that their profession needs to move elsewhere.
In the case of the United States, there is a specific
visa from the US State Department for temporary religious
workers. This is the R-type visa: the R1 is for ministers,
priests or pastors, and the R2 is for their dependents–in
case their religious beliefs allow them to have a family.
This is a specific type of visa, and according to official
information from the US State Department (found at
http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocityby-country/MX.html), the issuance of R1 and R2 visas
is free in Mexico, and they have a duration of one year.
To be eligible for this visa, you must be a member
of the religious denomination you will work for in the
United States for at least two years before applying. The
religious sponsor in the United States must file a written
application with a US Embassy or Consulate in Mexico.
You are only allowed to work as a religious minister in the
United States. Your sponsor must be a non-profit religious institution that meets the legal requirements for
religious institutions in the United States, and you must
work for this employer for at least 20 hours a week.
It’s worth noting that ministers, priests or pastors
who plan on coming to the US for a conference, a collective worship or prayer, meditation or non-official religious
courses, must apply for a tourist visa (B-type) if they are
not working for said religion and are not being paid for it.
R This is also the case for religious missionaries who won’t
receive any type of payment.
The process is basically the same as for any other
visa: you must fill out the DS-160 form online at https://
ceac.state.gov/genniv/ and contact the nearest Applicant
Service Center or Consulate.
Given that is an uncommon type of Visa, you should
specify this fact when scheduling a date and when filling
out the online form.
