The HR is an uprising of disciples who are striving to bring a complete and radical change in this world through lives of radical holiness. The Holiness Revolution conference will really accomplish two things for you: ∗ It will awaken your faith and help you to start living your faith with Passion and Purpose. ∗ It will energize and inspire you to live life to the fullest and to serve with joy. How does the conference accomplish this: ∗ The Gospel Proclamation - The conference starts with a message of who Jesus is. It is truly the gospel unleashed like never before. Framed around the call of the first disciples, you will be amazed by Jesus Christ, to drop everything, and to follow him more radically with your life. It’s the incarnation and the paschal mystery like never heard before. Jesus Christ calls us to repentance and brings us freedom. He is a God of miracles. ∗ The Mission Challenge: The HR is living lives that seek to bring about a complete and radical change in this world through lives of radical holiness. We are called to Live a Life that Changes lives; to live a life that changes the world. The Holiness Revolution challenges everyone, men and women, young and old to be true saints in the midst of our culture. There are three major crisis in our world and three radical ways to live to change the world - Crisis 1: The Crisis of Life (live as disciples of life) / Crisis 2: The Crisis of Love (Live as disciples of love) / Crisis 3: The Crisis of Faith (Live as disciples of Faith). ∗ The Practical Steps: The last message is meant to give the practical steps on how to allow out ordinary lives be transformed by Christ into extraordinary lives of Holiness. Learn how to form a personal prayer life, how to have a deeper encounter with the Lord at the Holy Mass, and an urgent appeal to return (regularly) to Confession. Say Yes! There are too many no’s in the world. Go to Dynamiccatholic.com, click on events, go to Holiness Revolution, scroll down and click on Saint Mary’s in Johnson City and follow their instructions. Our parish liturgy committee follows Church traditions and practices throughout the year through prayer, rubrics, and arts & environment. We use our senses - sight, sound, smell (incense on occasion) and taste. Among the changes you will note are: The "Gloria" and "Alleluia" are not sung during Lent as this time is one of seriousness and somberness in preparation for Easter; The "Alleluia" will return at the Easter Vigil. The "Gloria" is sung during the Holy Thursday Mass, at the beginning of the Triduum, and then reappears in the Easter Vigil Mass. Our Lenten music is more subdued with less instrumental. Here at St. Mary's use few instruments from the "Gloria" of Holy Thursday to the "Gloria" at the Easter Vigil. The Mass settings we sing are more traditional: "Kyrie" (Greek), "Sanctus" and "Agnus Dei" (Holy Holy and Lamb of God - in Latin); Liturgical color is violet. On the 4th Sunday of Lent (Laetare Sunday) there is an option to wear rose, as this is mid-way through the season marking a period of joyful relief (as much the same in Advent). Red is the color for Palm Sunday and Good Friday. White / gold are the colors for the Easter season (Pentecost); From the 5th Sunday of Lent through the Triduum, we cover statues. Our wine changes. It is more bitter and darker, as a reminder to us of the passion and suffering of Christ. No flowers are used on altars. We use unbleached processional and altar candles as another visual sign of a liturgical change of season; The special devotion Stations of the Cross, while available to be prayed privately throughout the year, is typically scheduled as parish prayer on the Fridays of Lent, and again on Good Friday.
