The homeowner portion of the meeting ends at approximately 7:30 p.m. Agenda items will be safety, with a constable's report of activity, beautification, social events, garage sales committee and information regarding the park and pool. Homeowners are welcome to drop by for these meetings. If you have something you wish the board to consider, please email or call Genesis Community Management at least 10 days prior to the meeting with your request. We will then add you to our agenda. If you do not have email, you may call Genesis at 713-953-0808. The email address is [email protected]. Parkglen West has a Contract with Harris County Constable Precinct 5 to provide law enforcement services in our subdivision. The patrol service is available 24/7. Call 281-463-6666 to report any suspicious activities, crime, disturbances or other problems. A constable will respond even if our assigned Constable is not on duty at the time. Please program this number in your cell phones and other devices. Online Vacation Watch and Special Watch forms can be found at http:// www.harriscountytx.gov/pct5/ The following was announced on Radio 92 FM news . . . “Couple closes up shop after city sues for too many garage sales. The City of Houston filed a lawsuit against not them, but their landlord. The point: to shut down the garage sales. The city says the garage sales violate a deed restriction in their neighborhood, and that a neighbor complained about them”. Parkglen West also has deed restriction No. 14 against having more than 2 garage sales per year. If you put out any items in your yard for sale, it is counted as a garage sale. This year has seen a decline in garage sales. Our subdivision looks great again, thanks to the homeowners who adhere to our deed restriction of only 2 garage sales per year. Thank you for caring enough to help make our subdivision not look like Harwin St. AUGUST 2014 Inside this issue: Teen Nite Pictures 2 Heavy Trash Schedule 3 Recycle Schedule 3 Spanish Translator Needed 3 Before Making Changes 3 Beautification 4 Favorite Recipes 4 Deed Restrictions- English 5 Deed Restrictions-Spanish 6 Constable’s Report 7 Storage Choice 8 Ad Special points of interest: Teen Nite Pictures - page 2 Don’t remember Heavy Trash Day/Recycling? Look up page 4 If you’re new to our neighborhood, now is a good time to find out the “do’s” & “don’ts” according to the deed restrictions on pages 5 - 6. If you are an old timer, now is a good time to re-learn them If you missed Teen Nite, you missed a lot of fun. The kids were scrambling for as many prizes as they could carry. Diving for quarters was the most popular game - no, actually counting your loot was the most fun for the kids. There was money to be had! Wet t-shirt contest was fun to watch. Try to see if you can take off a wet t-shirt that was 3 sizes too big in a hurry. A big thanks to the Board of Directors who helped pull this together . . . Marvin, Fran, Beth, Vita, Gloria, Cynthia, Zoe and a special thanks to Don and Marie for their hard work in making it all come together. Great job you two! Our favorite constable, Officer Ross Rogers, was also there to make sure the board was behaving (just kidding). No, the kids behaved beautifully - we’re proud of our PGW kids. Don’t forget to go to flickr.com to check out PGW events’ pictures. Log in as [email protected], password is ourgallery2013. 2 Heavy trash is collected the first Monday of each month. You may place your tree waste/junk waste at the curb after 6:00 p.m. the Friday before your Tree Waste / Junk Waste collection day. If you put out the wrong type of trash, please remove it immediately and put it in a place that is out of the public view, like your back yard (not the side of your house). Please do not leave it at the curb for a whole month. Remember, fines are now in affect. Do your part in keeping our neighborhood from looking trashy. TIRES Residents may place up to 4 tires at the curb for collection during Junk Waste months. Collection crews will separate the tires from the Junk Waste. It may take up to a week before crews return and retrieve the tires. Separating the tires from the rest of the Junk Waste allows the SWMD to properly process tires Architecture Control Committee by Marvin Cooper Before you make any changes to your house that are visible from the outside, remember, deed restrictions allow most changes, but not all. Earth- tone colors for the outside of your home and shingles are allowed - but not reds, greens, blues, yellows, etc. Landscaping and what kind of shed is built in the backyard has to be approved before you build. Call Genesis Community Management at (713) 953-0808 and ask for an A.C.C. Submittal Form. Show what changes you want to make and call Marvin Cooper at (281) 495-4621 or mail it back to Genesis. We want our neighborhood to keep looking nice and paying careful attention to the deed restrictions that are published in the newsletter will help keep you from being in violation. Remember your ODDS and EVENS Residents may dispose of their Tree Waste and Junk Waste at their curbside. Tree Waste is collected during ODD numbered months and Junk Waste is collected during EVEN numbered months. This method of collecting large waste comes with the benefits of diverting materials that can be recycled from landfills, saving landfill space and valuable tax dollars. A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal, its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, “When I get to heaven, I will ask Jonah.” The teacher asked, “What if Jonah went to hell?” The little girl replied, “Then you ask him”. Summer is here and children will be out and about. Please drive carefully. Remember, school doesn't start until the end of August. We want to thank Officer Chau, our constable, for a job well done. Please remember you can call the constable 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If our constable is not on duty, a constable will be dispatched. Response time is quicker than HPD. Keep an eye on your neighbors and report anything suspicious. Don't hesitate to call on suspicious vehicles or people. If in doubt, call 281-463-6666. If you will be on vacation or away for a few days, call dispatch and tell them you want a “vacation watch." Our constable will be notified and he will watch your home. Have a safe and happy summer! 4 for profit or not. Only two (2) garage sales per year are permitted. More than two are considered to be a business for profit and no new merchandise will be permitted to be sold. PARKGLEN WEST DEED RESTRICTIONS ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMITTEES GUIDELINES 15.
