Day 3: MUSEO TUMBAS REALES DE SIPAN
(ROYAL TOMBS OF SIPAN MUSEUM) AND VISIT
TO A PICANTERIA
Breakfast. Visit to the Museo Tumbas Reales de
Sipan, located in the city of Lambayeque. In this
museum are the remains of the Lord of Sipan, and
all the clothing and objects found alongside him,
as well as an exhibition of what was found during
the excavation of 12 other tombs of members of
the Moche society.
Following this we have a city tour of Lambayeque,
visiting the Casa de la Logia, Iglesia Colonial San
Pedro, as well as a tour of the best restaurants,
bars and regional sweet shops. We visit some of
the picanterias (restaurants that specialise in
spicy dishes) around the city.
Transfer to airport or bus terminal.
Itinerary:
Day 1: CHICLAYO
Arrival in Chiclayo and transfer to hotel. Overnight
stay.
Day 2: FULL DAY: CULINARY TOUR AND VISIT TO
THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX OF TÚCUME
Morning transfer to the “Mercado Modelo”, one
of the most important suppliers of ingredients for
Peruvian gastronomy. Here we are taken round
by a Chef who goes through all that we see on the
stalls: a large variety of fish, vegetables, fruit and
other Peruvian products.
Following this we have a talk from a historian
about Peruvian cuisine and its origins, influences,
key ingredients and signature dishes.
At midday we are given a demonstration of how
to prepare some typical dishes by the Chef at the
restaurant Fiesta Gourmet. At the end we have
the opportunity to taste the dish before enjoying
a buffet of Northern Peruvian food.
The afternoon is spent visiting the archaeological
complex of Túcume, where we see 26 pyramids
that once made up an urban centre for the Sicán
or Lambayeque culture.
