Infant Baptism: Parents and godparents are required to take a
preparation class. Please contact the parish office.
RCIA and Adult Confirmation: Adults and children are always
welcome to learn more about the Catholic Church and prepare
for full initiation. Call the parish office to learn more.
Marriage Preparation: At least six months in advance couples
must arrange for pre-marriage instruction before setting the
desired date. Contact the parish office for more information.
Communion to the Sick: Contact the parish office if you or a
loved one is unable to attend Mass but wishes to receive Holy
Communion.
Anointing of the Sick: Celebrate this healing sacrament before
your scheduled surgery or hospital stay. Call the parish office.
Catholics, Come Home: If you or someone you know has been
away from the Church and isn’t sure how to come back, please

Sunday Column
Dear Parishioners.
In the world, as well as in the Holy Roman Catholic
Church, sinners and saints are living side by side each other. Probably, we do not include ourselves in any of these
categories. Rather, we think there should be some middleway for normal people and Catholics like us.
When we take this position of trying to be comfortable
with our own spiritual status, our attitude might be described like this: no fanaticism ever, but always let me find
what I think is a golden mean or safe and inconspicuous
middle-of-the-road stance in my approach to life.
However, such an attitude, which most of us fall into so
easily, only reveals ourselves as being content with mediocrity and likely with being cowardly in face of the evils of the
world and our frequent encounters with indifference on the
part of others towards truth and moral integrity, especially
in regard to things pertaining to Faith and morals.
Nonetheless, before each Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, we
say: “I confess… that I have sinned…” Of course, God forgives us each time we say this with true contrition, provided
we fulfill the requirements for His forgiveness. However, to
do this, we must truly be sorry for our sins and truly have a
real and firm intention of amendment of our lives so that
we shall not commit those offenses again. It is only in that
light that Jesus forgave the repentant thief on the cross but
not the other one.
We often tend to think that we are not evil people like
some because we come to Mass every Sunday and perhaps
receive the Sacrament of Confession or Reconciliation on a
less or more regular basis. Moreover, we may tend to think
that really bad sinners do not come to Mass, and so we
probably aren't even encountering them in our lives, least of
all sitting next to us at Mass. Of course, in fact, most of us
likely would be very disturbed even if we found ourselves
having to sit in church right next to an anti-social or delinquent person who was known publicly as such.
Granted these all too human weaknesses that each of us
likely has, the Gospel for this Sunday, however, shows us
that Jesus is the only One Who truly and profoundly rejoices at the encounter with a genuinely sinful human being
who is seeking forgiveness or reconciliation and redemption.
But only Jesus, our Lord, can help him/her recover from
their sins and set his/her life on the right path to Heaven,
for only Christ truly embraces a sinful person with full comprehension of all that person's weaknesses and of that person's deepest desires to leave behind and be purified forever
of his/her sinful inclinations. Only Jesus with His Divine
arms of mercy can do this out of sheer Charity since He
alone is the full and unqualified manifestation of divine
love.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION AND
FAITH FORMATION:
Religious
Education for all ages continues this
weekend after the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Note
that all ages, including youth group, will now meet
Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the parish
hall.
ALTAR SERVER TRAINING continues with Father
Andrew on Sunday, October 30 from 10:15 a.m. to
10:45 a.m. All interested in serving are asked to
attend. The sessions will continue weekly until
November 13.
MASS INTENTIONS are still available for 2016 as
well as 2017. Contact the parish office if you would
like to have a Mass said for a particular person or
intention.
ALL SAINTS DAY, November 1, is a holy day of
obligation. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. In
addition, Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. Note
this is a change as several people suggested it would be
difficult for them to make a 6:00 p.m. Mass after work,
and Father has graciously agreed. Mass for All Souls
Day, November 2, will be at 8:00 a.m. In addition
Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be celebrated at
7:00 p.m.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION will be on
First Fridays beginning November 4 from 7:00
a.m. to 8:00 a.m. In addition there will
Eucharistic Adoration on October 31 from
7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. to honor Mary as we
close October.

SANTO DE LA SEMANA: Carlos Borromeo (1538–
1584, Día de fiesta—4 de noviembre) Aunque a lo largo
de su vida Carlos sufrió de un defecto en el habla, su inteligencia y su celo lo convirtieron en una figura muy
destacada de la Reforma Católica. En 1560 fue nombrado cardenal y administrador de la Arquidiocesis de
Milán por su tío, el papa Pio IV, pero Carlos permaneció
en Roma para ayudar con una tercera convocatoria del
Concilio de Trento. Él ayudó a redactar el catecismo del
concilio y los libros litúrgicos y, en 1563, fue ordenado
sacerdote y obispo. Finalmente, en 1566, se le permitió ir
a Milán en donde trabajó incansablemente para reformar
la formación sacerdotal y la catequesis laica. Asimismo,

Prayer of Pope Francis for the Jubilee: Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that
