Enrique leaving, and my other job at the Diocese, there simply is not enough time for me to accept all the invites. I will try to accept as many as possible, but please understand if I have to say “no” it is only because the timing does not make it possible. For this reason the Core team of the parish has prepared a month of farewell opportunities in July. Blessings Fr. Jerry Are you married? Do something special for you, your spouse and your marriage!! Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. Refrain 3. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Refrain 5th Sunday of Easter Entrance Chant: Come to the River Amen, Amen! Psalm Response Gospel Acclamation Gloria Apostle’s Creed Glo-ri-a! earth Glo - ri- a! Glo-ry to God in the high-est, and on peace to peo - ple, to peo - ple of good will. I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Page 3 Preparation of the Gifts: Death Will Be No More Mystery of Faith Amen Sanctus (Holy, Holy) Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) Practicing Catholics (those at Mass each week and regular at confession) are invited to receive the Sacrament. Non practicing Catholics should go to confession before receiving Holy Communion. Non Catholics are welcome to come for a blessing (cross your arms over your chest). Communion Chants: Pan de Vida/Bread of Life Page 4 Song of Praise: Set Your Hearts on the Higher Gifts 1. If I speak with the tongues of the living, and of angels, but speak without love, I am only brass without song, an empty noise on the wind. 2. And if I understand ev’ry myst’ry, having wisdom, but think without love, had I faith to scatter the hills, I am nothing at all. Sending Forth: Canticle of the Sun We Have Been Told 1. Praise for the sun, the bringer of day, He carries the light of the Lord in his rays; The moon and the stars who light up the way unto your throne. 2. Praise for the wind that blows through the trees, the seas’ mighty storms, the gentlest breeze; They blow where they will, they blow where they please to please the Lord. (a Estrofa 4) 4. (BIS) Comunión: Yo Canto Amor Salida: Aleluya, el Señor Resucitó Pastor’s Page Bergoglio IV Page 7 Like the President of the United States, Francis is not afraid to use his cell phone; he called several in Argentina that first day: his dentist to cancel an appointment for the next week: “something has come up…” and the man who had delivered him his daily newspaper for years, to cancel his subscription. At first the man wouldn’t believe it was the Pope, but hearing Francis speak in the Argentine dialect of Spanish, he was greatly touched. This is the sort of personal and caring concern that he exhibits, one that would cause his aides to say “We’re going to have to get used to a new way of doing things…” His first Sunday as Pope, Francis celebrated Mass at the little Vatican church of Sant’Anna in a vestment so simple it sent shivers down the spines of Rome’s “lace police” – priests who are preoccupied with liturgy. Afterwards he stood by the door greeting the congregation one by one as they came out, something never done in Rome. Walking back to his room, he stopped to greet people and shake their hands, causing some to dub him “the world’s parish priest.” His security team at first didn’t know how to deal with this spontaneous and direct man, but their spokesman said it brings life to the Vatican and they would figure out how to keep him safe. On Sundays the Pope addresses the crowds in St. Peter’s square at noon, and that first Sunday he talked about Mercy; which will no doubt come to represent the totality of his pontificate, as we are now in the year of Mercy. He said “we grow weary of asking for forgiveness, but God never grows weary of forgiving us.” After the prayers he said good bye and added “Buon Pranzo” – just as I heard him do when we were recently in Rome; it means “have a good lunch.” IHM pray for us, Fr.
