Dear Parishioners,
April has been quite a busy month around here! Let me remind you that I am still the Administrator
of Saint Paul’s Parish in Corona –therefore when you don’t see me after the masses here I am most
probably over there! We have 9 masses here on the weekends and they have 5 masses there….busy,,,busy!
I am looking forward to the month of May! We will be crowning Mary at one of our Sunday
masses—check the bulletin for the date as well as honoring our own mom’s on Mother’s Day! This coming
May we already have 64 baptisms scheduled (and that could go higher) as well as 232 children receiving
their first holy communion. The numbers are enormous and growing every year!! Since January we have
registered 87 new families who have recently moved into the Elmhurst/Jackson Heights area. You can see
that our weekly collection continues to grow each week as well!
The month will draw to a close with Fr John Gildea celebrating his 50th Anniversary as a priest on
Sunday, May 29th at the 10 a.m. mass. This will be our opportunity to honor and say thanks to Fr Gildea for
his years of service to the Church, our diocese and our parish!
There will be plenty of other events happening next month ---I just don’t have enough room to write
them all down! Our parish continues to grow and thrive thanks to all of you!!

¡Abril ha sido un mes bastante ocupado por aquí! Permítanme recordarles que todavía soy el Administrador
de la Parroquia de San Pablo en Corona, por lo tanto, cuando ustedes no me ven después de las Misas aquí
¡estoy muy probablemente por allí! ¡Tenemos 9 Misas aquí los fines de semana y ellos tienen 5 Misas allá...
ocupado... ocupado!
¡Estoy deseando que llegue el mes de mayo! ¡Estaremos coronando a María en una de nuestras Misas
dominicales, revisen en el boletín la fecha, así como en honor a nuestra propia madre en el Día de la Madre!
Este próximo mes de mayo ya se han programado 64 bautismos (y podrían ser más), así como 232 niños
que recibirán su Primera Comunión. ¡¡Los números son enormes y están creciendo cada año!! Desde enero
hemos registrado 87 nuevas familias que se han mudado recientemente a la zona de Elmhurst / Jackson
Heights. ¡Se puede ver que nuestra colecta semanal que sigue creciendo cada semana también!
El mes se acerca a su fin con el P. John Gildea celebrando su 50 aniversario como sacerdote el domingo 29
de mayo en la Misa de 10 am. ¡Ésta será nuestra oportunidad de honrar y darle las gracias al Padre Gildea
por sus años de servicio a la Iglesia, nuestra diócesis y a la parroquia!
Hay un montón de otros eventos que tienen lugar el próximo mes, ¡sólo que no tengo suficiente espacio
para escribirlos a todos! ¡¡Nuestra parroquia sigue creciendo y prosperando gracias a todos ustedes!!

The death of someone close to us can be difficult and challenging. The parish is here to help. Four of our parishioners have been trained in Bereavement Ministry. THE NEXT GATHERING WILL TAKE PLACE ON THIS TUESDAY, APRIL 19, 2016 AFTER THE 9AM MASS IN HEAFEY HALL (Ithaca Street) During the meeting we have the opportunity to pray, listen and share. If you are not comfortable sharing…that’s ok! You can just come to pray and listen. Consider attending this special evening. HELP WANTED—LAY MINISTERS: We are in needed of more ministers: ushers, lectors and extraordinary ministers of holy communion. Would you like to give of your time to serve your parish on Saturday or Sunday – at least once a month? All it requires is a brief interview with one of the parish priests and a Saturday training session for a few hours. Please take this week to PRAY about it.
