Urbaser chooses ITURRI for their new spraying
and washing vehicles
Urbaser apuesta por ITURRI para sus nuevos vehículos de riego y baldeo
At the end of 2013, the ITURRI Group decided to
conduct design work on a new spraying and washing vehicle
for use by municipal departments involved in cleaning
and gardening. After production, tests and approval of
the prototype by the ITURRI Group engineers, URBASER,
one of the leaders in the utilities sector, was asked to test
the vehicle. After several weeks of technical analysis and
demanding field tests, the conclusions made by URBASER
were very satisfactory. Therefore, the company decided to
purchase this new product - it has purchased the first unit
produced.
The experience gained by the Group in the use of new
materials and new technology in the life of fire engines led
to the use of these innovations in a range of products for
spraying and washing.
As the newest and innovative element, it was decided
to include the EcoPolyFire® system in this type of vehicle,

baldeo como los que utilizan, en los trabajos de limpieza
viaria de las ciudades, las distintas empresas de Servicios
que prestan este tipo de servicios (Urbaser, Cespa, FCC,
Valoriza, etc.). Esta decisión estuvo fundamentada en el
conocimiento que ITURRI ha desarrollado en la línea de
vehículos contra incendios en la utilización de nuevos
materiales y nuevas tecnologías, y que pueden aportar
mucho valor añadido a estos clientes.
La experiencia adquirida por el grupo con nuevos
materiales y nuevas tecnologías en la línea de vehículos
contra incendios le llevó a la aplicación de estas
innovaciones en la línea de vehículos de riego y baldeo.

 The ability to recover the body after scrapping the bearing
chassis because of its ageing or mileage.
Ongoing work resulted in a prototype produced in the
PROTEC-FIRE facilities in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).

approvals by ITURRI technicians, URBASER was asked to
carry out field tests. After several days of testing in a al

its use at the beginning of August this year in the city of
Móstoles, where it is now used to provide all kinds of
cleaning services.

Este desarrollo se ha materializado en un prototipo
fabricado en las instalaciones de PROTEC-FIRE en Alcalá de
Henares (Madrid).
Una vez finalizada la fabricación, pruebas y validación
de este prototipo por parte de los técnicos de ITURRI, se
ofreció a la empresa URBASER para que realizara pruebas
de campo del mismo con su personal. Tras varios días
de pruebas reales, la impresión de URBASER fue muy
satisfactoria, de tal forma que se procedió, por parte
de esta empresa, a la compra de la unidad y puesta en
funcionamiento desde principios de agosto del presente
año en la ciudad de Móstoles, donde presta el servicio de
limpieza viaria.
El seguimiento que los técnicos de ITURRI han hecho
de esta unidad nos confirma que está realizando su trabajo
con plena satisfacción de los usuarios.

Madrid renews its fleet of fire engines
by renting
Madrid renueva la flota de vehículos de bomberos mediante renting
Madrid’s Fire Brigade is one of the largest units in Spain,
employs 1,500 people and handles many types of damage
requiring intervention by the professional institution,
which quickly and effectively respond to calls while
minimising consequences. It has 12 branches scattered
throughout the municipality and a very large number of
fire engines specialised for all types of unfortunate events.
In 2014, the City Hall has decided to renew the larger
part of the fleet of fire engines by renting. The investment
cost amounted to 95 million euro. The rental period is
variable depending on the type of vehicles, ranging from
5 to 12 years.
The purchase formula of vehicles under renting
includes, in addition to financing, preventive and corrective
maintenance of vehicles as well as the overall management
of the withdrawal of vehicles covered by the exchange. For
this purpose, ITURRI makes human and material resources
available for the Municipal Office in Madrid, necessary
to ensure optimal performance of the service and the
effective response to the needs:

En el año 2014 el Ayuntamiento tomó la decisión de
renovar la mayor parte de la flota de vehículos mediante
un sistema de renting, invirtiendo 95 millones de euros.
El periodo de alquiler es variable dependiendo del tipo de
vehículos y oscila entre los 5 y los 12 años.
La fórmula de adquisición de vehículos mediante renting
incluye, además de la financiación, el mantenimiento
preventivo y correctivo de los vehículos, así como la gestión
integral asociada a la retirada de los vehículos a sustituir. Para
ello ITURRI pone al servicio del Ayuntamiento de Madrid los
medios humanos y materiales necesarios para asegurar un
servicio óptimo y una respuesta eficaz: técnicos cualificados,
talleres móviles, instalaciones y maquinaria especializadas,
repuestos originales, etc.

Además el trabajo rápido de las manos en el volante parece
fácil y obvio en teoría, pero en la práctica resultó para mí
un campo que debo mejorar decididamente y entrenar
intensivamente.
¿Cómo consigues utilizar en el día a día las técnicas
presentadas durante la formación?
Antes de viajes largos intento ajustar con cuidado el asiento.
Conduciendo a más velocidad en las curvas, la trayectoria de
conducción trabajada en la formación me permite trazarlas
con seguridad.
Puede que una formación sobre técnicas de conducción
segura en condiciones invernales de tan solo un día no sea

Especially in the winter it is a good idea to take care of
the technical condition of the vehicle, including to invest
in good winter tires. Most importantly, drive reasonably
and do not cross the border of control over the vehicle. We
should be particularly focused on the road in winter, make
more frequent stops during our longer trips and make sure
to have good visibility. it’s not a good idea to drive in a
frozen and snow-covered car.
Does participation in safe driving training make you
suficiente para crear actitudes permanentes y seguras en la
carretera. Entonces, en tu opinión ¿qué es lo que se debe
hacer por cuenta propia para aumentar la seguridad propia
y la de otros conductores?
Sobre todo en invierno es importante cuidar el estado
técnico del vehículo, entre otras cosas invirtiendo en unos
buenos neumáticos de invierno. Lo más importante es
mantener la sensatez y no sobrepasar los límites de control
sobre el vehículo. En invierno en carretera debemos estar
especialmente concentrados, durante el viaje hacer pausas
más frecuentes que normalmente y asegurar una muy buena
visibilidad. No se debe conducir un automóvil congelado y
cubierto de nieve.

Yes, very much ... Especially when our car gives us such
opportunities. I choose to ride safe and secure. Let’s
remember, on the road we are not in such a secure
environment as on the training track. If we take a risk it is
also a risk for pedestrians and other motorists.
Did the training met your expectations? Why?
Yes, absolutely. Despite global warming, the winter in
Poland still required a lot of concentration and control
from the driver. And the knowledge and practical skills that
become a reflex sometimes decide about life or death.
Therefore, the Driving Experience, beyond fantastic thrills,
is first and foremost a great preparation for driving on
Polish roads.
¿No incita la participación en el curso de formación
sobre conducción segura a comportamientos atrevidos y
arriesgados en carretera?
Sí, mucho... Sobre todo si nuestro automóvil nos da esa
posibilidad. Yo apuesto por una conducción fiable y segura.
Recordemos que en carretera no estamos en un entorno tan
seguro como en la pista de formación. Si nos arriesgamos
jugamos también con las vidas de los peatones y de los demás
conductores.
¿Ha cumplido la formación organizada tus expectativas?
¿Por qué?
Sí, completamente. A pesar del calentamiento global, el
invierno en Polonia sigue requiriendo de los conductores una
alta concentración y control. Y los conocimientos y la destreza
práctica que se convierten en un reflejo deciden a veces
sobre la salud y la vida. Por este motivo, driving experience,
aparte de unas sensaciones fantásticas, es sobre todo una
preparación perfecta para conducir en las carreteras polacas.
