A Letter from Our Pastor
A School Parish is a Special Parish
Two weekends ago, our
Sacred Heart of Jesus School
Foundation spoke at Mass.
They apprised the parish of
their existence, their purpose
and some of their activities. It was a good
opportunity for them to introduce themselves and
for the parish to learn more about the operations of
our school. The weekend before that, we
celebrated Catholic Schools Week, an opportune
time to celebrate what Catholic education is all
about.
These two events have caused me to ponder: Do
we realize that a school parish is a special parish?
Let me share with you some thoughts. First, a
school parish makes a conscious decision to be
just that, a school parish. The parish school
immediately becomes the primary charitable
mission of the parish. It is where any budget
considerations or extra monies are directed.
Therefore, other charitable outreach takes a
secondary role. This is true for us. In fact, when
new parishes are formed, a vote is sometimes
taken as to whether a parish school will or will not
be a part of the future of said parish. A school is a
tremendous financial obligation for any parish, and
that is true here at Sacred Heart.

Foundation helped the school with some financial
assistance when a new roof was needed on the
Middle School several years ago. But the
Foundation does not provide any support to the
operating budget. Also, as you are well aware,
Catholic Schools receive no public or tax support,
and even grant money can be limited due to
religious issues. Grant money is also usually tied to
the number of students in financial need. We are
fortunate to have a working agreement with
Boulder Valley Schools to provide our school lunch
program. This is definitely not the norm.
As you can see, the financial future of the school is
very much dependent on the parish. As
parishioners, how can you help in the mission of
our school? Supporting the offertory in a true
stewardship manner is essential. Being good
ambassadors for our excellent school is also
essential. Talk it up in our community. Word of
mouth is the best advertising. And spiritually
support the school, its faculty and students. Pray
for the school daily.
One of the missions of any Catholic parish is to
hand on the faith to the young. Since 1900, Sacred
Heart of Jesus School has done just that, with a

UNA ESCUELA PARROQUIAL,
UNA PARROQUIA ESPECIAL

Hace dos fines de semana, nuestra Fundación de Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, habló en la misa en
la parroquia. Informaron porque existen en la parroquia, su propósito, y algunas de sus actividades. Fue
una buena oportunidad para ellos y la parroquia de aprender más acerca de las operaciones de nuestra
escuela. El fin de semana antes de eso, celebramos Semana de Escuelas Católicas. Se produjo un
momento oportuno para celebrar lo que la educación católica se trata.
Estos dos "eventos" me han hecho reflexionar. ¿Nos damos cuenta de que una parroquia con
escuela, es una parroquia "especial"? Permítanme compartir con ustedes algunas reflexiones. En primer
lugar, una parroquia con escuela toma una decisión consciente para ser sólo eso, una parroquia para la
escuela. La escuela parroquial se convierte inmediatamente en la principal "misión de caridad" de la
parroquia. Es donde se dirigen las consideraciones de dinero o presupuesto adicional. Por naturaleza, otra
labor de beneficencia toma un papel secundario. Esto es cierto para nosotros. De hecho, cuando se forman
nuevas parroquias, un voto a veces se toma en cuanto a si una escuela parroquial será o no será parte del
futuro de dicha parroquia. Una escuela es una obligación financiera enorme para cualquier parroquia,
como es el caso aquí en el Sagrado Corazón.
Es necesario saber que nuestra escuela es apoyada TOTALMENTE, por nuestra parroquia. Una
pequeña cantidad de apoyo proviene de la Arquidiócesis (que representan aproximadamente el 3% del
presupuesto de la escuela). Nuestra propia Fundación de la Escuela (que opera independiente de nuestra
parroquia y escuela) ofrece becas de apoyo y ayuda a los proyectos con necesidades especiales. Por
ejemplo, la Fundación ayudó a la escuela con algún tipo de asistencia financiera cuando se necesitaba un
nuevo techo en la escuela secundaria hace varios años. Sin embargo, la Fundación no proporciona ningún
apoyo al presupuesto de funcionamiento. También, como usted bien sabe, en beneficio de las escuelas
católicas sin apoyo público o de impuestos, e incluso dinero de la subvención puede ser limitado debido a

la Escuela Sagrado Corazón de Jesús ha hecho lo mismo, con una gran cantidad de alumnos consumados
y exitosos de hablar en un testimonio. Para la misión de la educación para continuar aquí en el Sagrado

subió al monte a orar. Y sucedió que, mientras oraba,
el aspecto de su rostro se mudó, y sus vestidos eran
de una blancura fulgurante, y he aquí que
conversaban con él dos hombres, que eran Moisés y
Elías; los cuales aparecían en gloria, y hablaban de su
partida, que iba a cumplir en Jerusalén. Pedro y sus
compañeros estaban cargados de sueño, pero
permanecían despiertos, y vieron su gloria y a los dos
hombres que estaban con él. Y sucedió que, al separarse ellos de él, dijo Pedro a Jesús: «Maestro, bueno es estarnos aquí. Vamos a hacer tres tiendas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías», sin saber lo que decía. Estaba diciendo estas cosas cuando se formó una nube y los cubrió con su sombra; y al
entrar en la nube, se llenaron de temor. Y vino una voz desde la nube, que decía: «Este es mi Hijo, mi
Elegido; escuchadle.» Y cuando la voz hubo sonado, se encontró Jesús solo. Ellos callaron y, por
aquellos días, no dijeron a nadie nada de lo que habían visto.

 Colocar en el cesto de la basura, pañales
 Mostrarle algún objeto de colores
sucios, que utilizó su niño, restos de
llamativo para entretenerlo
comida, u otros desechos.
 No lleve a la Iglesia juguetes que hagan

 Permitir que en la siguiente Misa, los
 Acariciarlo, tal vez este cansado
feligreses encuentren, la habitación tan
 Ofrecer nuestra ayuda, para consolar
limpia como la encontraste, ó mejor.
