Mass Intentions & Memorial Candles
If you would like to have a Mass offered for a particular
Intention or for someone who has died, or if you would like to
dedicate a candle to an intention or a loved one, please call the
parish office. The stipend for the Mass is $10. The candles are
$30 for 1 month, $60 for 6 months, or $90 for one year. Our
office staff will help you find an open date and time for a Mass,
or available candles for dedications.
The new set of Stations of the Cross is now hanging in our church. A couple who want to go anonymous donated the set. They personally approached me and expressed their interest to help me get new set that
goes well with our church look.
The set was taken down from a church in the East Coast and shipped to Albany sometime in June.
Then refurbishing was made to make it look like brand new. Thanks to Marciano for making that possible.
Now the set is fixed temporarily. It is temporary in a sense that improvements will be done to fix it
permanently. The alignment will be improved. Also the set will be fastened better on the church wall.
And finally the set may be installed with lighting to bring in some contrast and highlight.

The chapel is also getting a little “face-lift”. On the wall back of the altar, a glass window will be built
to encase the monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. That will make the Blessed Sacrament available for
adoration 24/7.
The 24-hour adoration on Thursdays will continue to happen. In addition to that, every day adoration is
possible. Anyone who wishes to adore the Blessed Sacrament can come to the chapel, open the window and
after adoring, close the window again.
I am encouraging you to take a look at it and start loving that devotion available to us.

Apostolic journey of the pope. Do you know that the first pope who went around the world was
Blessed Paul VI? But from among the recent popes who travelled the world, St. John Paul II travelled the
most.
The pope’s apostolic journey to the churches around the world is continued today by Pope Francis.
This week he is in the US. He will meet pilgrims, talk to our president and address the congress, and visit the
United Nations. He will also canonize Blessed Junipero Sera, the founder of California.
An apostolic journey’s main purpose is to provide apostolic blessing to those who are away from the
Vatican.

Pope Francis is the pope who dresses simply. Ever wonder what are the things he wear? Here are some
things that he is usually seen wearing.
He wears a white cassock with an attached wing-like flaps hanging on his shoulders called pellegrina.
On his head is the white cap called zucchetto. Fastened around his waist is the fascia. Hanging on a chain is the
pectoral cross. It is noticeable that he wears an unadorned silver pectoral cross. And he wears a pair of black
shoes, a non-traditional pair of shoes for a pope.
El nuevo set de las estaciones de la cruz ya están colgadas en nuestra iglesia. Una pareja quería
anónimamente donar el set. Ellos personalmente se acercaron a mi y expresaron su interés para ayudarme a
conseguir un nuevo set que va de acuerdo con el color de nuestra iglesia.
El set era de una iglesia en la costa este y enviado a Albany mas o menos en junio. Pero se necesitaba
pulirlos para que se vieran como nuevo. Gracias a Marciano por hacer eso posible.
Ahora el set estara temporalmente. Es temporal en un sentido que se realizarán
mejoras y que estén de forma permanente. Se mejorará la ubicacion. También para
que el set resalte en la pared de la iglesia. Y, finalmente, el set puede ser instalado con
iluminación para traer un poco de contraste y ser resaltado.

También en la capilla se está recibiendo unos "cambios". En la parte posterior
de la pared del altar, habrá una ventana de cristal que será construido para poner y
custodiar el Santísimo Sacramento. Eso hará que la adoración al Santísimo
Sacramento este disponible los 7 días y las 24 horas.

La adoración las 24 horas los jueves continuará sucediendo. Además de eso, cada día de adoración es posible.
Cualquiera que desee adorar al Santísimo Sacramento puede venir a la capilla, abrir la ventana y después de la adoración,

El viaje apostólico del Papa a las iglesias de todo el mundo se continúa hoy por el Papa Francisco. Esta semana
estará en los Estados.Unidos.. Se reunirá con los peregrinos, hablara con nuestro presidente y el congreso, y visitara las
Naciones Unidas. También canonizará al Beato Junípero Sera, el fundador de California.
El propósito principal de este viaje apostólico es proporcionar bendición apostólica a los que están lejos del Vaticano.

OUR PRODIGAL GOD
We keep having to relearn how prodigal God is. It is as
if God cannot quite manage to say no. We think it is surely
fine when God is prodigal with us—rich in mercy and forgiveness, generous in grace. But what about the other—
the enemy, the sinner, the heretic, the outsider? Well, we
expect God to be as stingy with that person as we are.
Moses and Joshua wanted such a cozy world, too.
They wondered how the spirit of God could be given to
the two who did not show up at the meeting tent—today’s
church. And the apostles in the Gospel complained because there were some miracle workers who were clearly
not followers of Jesus. God’s great free‑wheeling generosity confounded them all. Let this be, says Jesus. Just see to
it that you who lead continue to be worthy of your calling.

GOD’S WORD TODAY
Picking up on themes begun in last week’s readings, today’s scriptures focus our attention on how we use the
gifts God gives us. The letter of Saint James is a stark condemnation of the misuse of wealth: “You have lived on
earth in luxury and pleasure; you have fattened your
hearts for the day of slaughter.” The people he describes
are those who withheld wages, thereby causing others to
become poor. Jesus tells us that we should cut off whatever it is that causes us to sin. These readings make these
autumn weeks a time for deep self-searching. What are
the things that “fatten our hearts”? How do we use the
gifts God gives? Are we dedicating a portion of our salaries
to the work of the Church and charitable groups? Are we
on the road to becoming good stewards of God’s creation?

NUESTRO DIOS PRÓDIGO
Nos toca volver a aprender una y otra vez cuán pródigo es nuestro Dios. Es como si Dios no pudiera decir “no”.
Por supuesto, que estamos de acuerdo cuando Dios es
pródigo conmigo—rico en misericordia y perdón, generoso
con su gracia. Pero cuando se trata del otro –¿el enemigo,
el pecador, el hereje, el excluído? Pues entonces queremos que Dios sea tan tacaño con esa persona como yo
soy.
Moisés y Josué también querían un mundo así de conveniente. Se preguntaban cómo es que el espíritu de Dios
se había posado sobre los dos que no se aparecieron a la
reunión –la Iglesia de hoy. Y los apóstoles en el Evangelio
se quejaron porque habían unos haciendo milagros que en
definitiva no eran seguidores de Jesús. La extensa y libre
generosidad de Dios los confundió a todos. Que así sea,
dice Jesús. Por su parte, ustedes que guían a otros, continúen siendo dignos de su vocación.
LECTURAS DE HOY
Primera lectura — El espíritu se posó sobre Moisés y los
ancianos, y también sobre Eldad y Medad. No se puede
limitar al espíritu (Números 11:25-29).

LA PALABRA DE DIOS HOY

primeros, primero en la fila, primero en la clase, primero en ser
seleccionado para el equipo. Esta clase de estímulo continúa a
través de toda nuestra vida. Ser el primero tiene que ver
fundamentalmente con el poder. Ser el primero no tiene
absolutamente nada de malo. Los problemas comienzan cuando
usamos el poder que nos da ser el primero para manipular y
usar a las personas que consideramos estar “por debajo” de
nosotros. Muchos de los problemas de nuestro mundo y de
nuestra Iglesia se centran alrededor de esta clase de abuso de
poder. Oremos para que el Evangelio de hoy, que enfrenta sin
