MASS SCHEDULE
Dear Parishioners,
Although I have only been a transitional
Deacon for two months, it feels much longer.
I feel I am truly where God wants me to
be right now. It is hard to believe that summer
will soon come to an end, and I will have to
return to classes in August and finish the 4th
year of theology at St. Mary’s Seminary. I have just started to get a
feel for the various ministries here at Resurrection, so thank God
that I will be able to come back to the parish twice a month on
weekends until June of 2014, even if I have to move back to the
seminary this coming August.
But there is still time to get some things started before the summer
ends.
Recently, I had a conversation with our Pastor Fr. Chris Plant, and
he relayed to me how much he would like to see things happening
in three specific areas: vocations to the priesthood and the religious
life; starting a Knights of Columbus Council; and social justice. I
told him I would be happy to help in these areas.
And so, I need your help. If you are someone who feels God might
be calling you to the priesthood or the religious or consecrated life,
please contact me. If you are someone who would like to pray with
other people for vocations to the priesthood and the religious life,

PREGUNTAS SOBRE LA REENCARNACION
Es tal la avalancha de patrañas,
mentiras, paparruchadas y
creencias supersticiosa que se
están propalando día a día por
todos los medios posibles; que
el católico no muy preparado
puede verse desarmado para
contrarrestarlas y caer en el
error. ¿Puede un cristiano creer
en la reencarnación? No. El
cristiano cree en lo que le ha
sido revelado por Dios, sobre
todo por medio de Jesucristo, la
segunda persona de la Trinidad,
que se hizo uno de nosotros para enseñarnos el camino de la
verdad y redimirnos del pecado
y de la muerte. Si la reencarnación fuera cierta; ¿Cómo es que
Jesús no dijo nada acerca de
ella? La creencia en la reencarnación es el producto de un esfuerzo humano por explicar las
aparentes injusticias y contradicciones que encontramos en
el mundo. Antiguos pensadores, sobre todo en la India elaboraron todo un sistema doctrinal basado en que si hay personas que lo pasan muy bien, y
otras que sufren mucho tiene
que ser porque las segundas
cometieron pecados en una vida pasada y están purgándolos
en la presente. Así se llego a
elaborar la “ley del karma,” por
lo cual una persona que lleva
una vida de pecado reencarna
dependiendo de una serie situaciones. Sobre esto hay muchas
discrepancias entere unos grupos y otros. Esto ha sido el producto de un esfuerzo por responder preguntas que siempre
han inquietado al ser humano.
Pero no pertenece a la Revelación que Dios nos ha dado y
que debe seguir nuestras vidas? !Hay algo científico en eso
de la reencarnación? En modo
alguno. La ciencia parte del
principio que nada que no se
demuestre palpablemente puede ser admitido como verdadero. Todo lo que hay sobre la
reencarnación son afirmaciones
sin ningún tipo de comprobación científica.
Aquí, en Miami, se ha hecho
famoso y supongo que ya casi
millonario, un siquiatra el Dr.
Brian Weiss, que afirma haber
demostrado científicamente la
reencarnación, pero sus libros y
conferencias son pura cienciaficción, de científicos no tienen
nada. Lo que ocurre es que como el movimiento llamado
New Age ha puesto de moda el
tema de la reencarnación ya
han aparecido charlatanes disfrazados de científicos listos
para esquilmar a ese montón de
gente preocupada por este tema. ¿Qué debe hacer un cristiano ante la reencarnación?
Rechazarla como anticientífica
y anticristiana. Creer en la reencarnación sería negar una de
las verdades fundamentales de
nuestra fe: que Cristo fue el que
cargó sobre sus hombros nuestros pecados y pago por ellos.
Que la salvación eterna se nos
da gratuitamente, con tal de que
aceptemos el amor que Dios
nos ofrece y tratemos de acomodar nuestras vidas a sus
mandamientos. Si la salvación
dependiera de nuestro propio
esfuerzo a través de vidas sucesivas en las que iríamos purificándonos, entonces el sacrificio
de Cristo estaría demás. Además, de esas vidas nunca tendríamos conciencia pues nadie
puede acordarse de los que supuestamente ha pasado en ellas,
a no ser que tengamos a nuestro
lado al Dr. Weiss o a alguno de
sus colegas para que nos diga
que fue lo que pasó, con el previo pago, por supuesto, de cientos de dólares. Pero bien sabemos que Dios nos ha creado
con un destino eterno. Aunque
ha querido ponernos primero
por breve tiempo en esta escuela que es la vida presente, para
que podamos apreciar conscientemente lo que El nos ofrece y lo aceptemos o rechacemos. Somos responsables de
nuestra salvación. Como dice
San Agustin: “Aquel que te
creó sin ti, no te salvará sin ti”.
Abramos los ojos. Hay muchos
interesados en propalar estas
mentiras porque les producen
muchísimo dinero. Antes de
repetir tonterías indaguemos si
lo que nos dice está de acuerdo
con lo que un cristiano debe
creer, porque corremos peligro
de dejar de ser cristianos casi
sin darnos cuenta.

Communion and/or Confirmation.

♦ Bring your birth certificate if you have not received the sacrament of baptism for ages 7
and up.
