Are we aware of our deeper need when

Jesus for mercy in the Gospel? As we
ponder Jesus’ healing presence among
the people of the first century, we may
find His mercy in our midst. Join this
retreat at the Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat center and find how Jesus’ mercy

THANK YOU to all who supported the “Margaritas for Kids” campaign on August 1st to raise funds
for education for children in our
sister parish, Santa Ana, through
the Manos Franciscanas (Franciscan Hands) program. The El
Rancho owners donated $1256.72 (50% of the profits of the day’s
purchases of margaritas and cervezas) - and want to continue this
fund raiser each year!

Plarning: The sleeping mat project for the homeless will resume on Monday, September
12, from 4:00-7:00 pm in rooms 108/110 of the Hartmayer Education Building (HEB).
Please note that plastic bags will not be collected until our current supply is made into crocheting “plarn.” Join us! Even if you cannot crochet, we need volunteers to cut the bags
into strips and loop into plarn (yarn). If you cannot participate in September, come to the
October 3rd meeting (same time/place).
Save the Date: Sue Nemchik, a St Philip parishioner, will present a program on Human
Trafficking on Monday, September 19, at 7:00pm in rooms 108/110 (HEB). Let’s stand
faithfully united against human trafficking. “Human Trafficking is a crime against humanity.
We must unite our efforts to free victims and stop this crime that’s become even more aggressive, that threatens not just individuals, but the foundational values of society, international security, and laws, the economy, families, and communities.” (Pope Francis).

Confirmation for teenagers at St Philip’s takes place
in the 10th grade or after the teen has completed 2 years of Faith Formation. Normally this
would include grades 8 and 9 with Confirmation being received in the 10th grade year. If a
teenager did not attend Faith Formation in 8th grade, they should enroll in the High School
Youth Group for grade years 9 and 10, receiving Confirmation in the 11th grade year. Registration forms for Confirmation are available now online or can be obtained from the Religious Education Office. .For more information on Confirmation requirements, contact Susan Baker at
