Resurfacing is necessary to address streets that have deteriorated, are safety hazards and are generally in poor condition. Residents, businesses and visitors to the 36th Ward will benefit from improved safety when driving.

Menu money is the only available funding for
residential street resurfacing in Chicago’s wards.
Thanks to a federal subsidy, the cost for the first five
blocks of resurfaced streets is $42,000 per block. The
average cost for each street resurfaced in addition to
the initial five is $70,500.

The 36th Ward Community Representatives identified
streets most in need of resurfacing. Streets are not
listed in any particular order. All streets submitted for
resurfacing are subject to approval by the Chicago
Department of Transportation.

SIDEWALKS

Sidewalks are very expensive and unfortunately not a priority for City Hall. This project would get 3 total sidewalks done, the west
side of the 2700 block of N. Newcastle and both sides of the 2300 block of N. Normandy.

Improve safety for pedestirans by voting for 3 new
sidewalks for the ward! This project would repair
sidewalks for the 36th ward. The sidewalks that would
be repaired are both sides of the 2300 block of N.
Normandy and the west side of the 2700 block of N.
Newcastle. This project would create a safe and up to
date walking path for residents while also improving the
walkability of the ward. In the past, City Hall has not
made sidewalks a priority and upkeep has been left to
the ward.

reparar aceras (poner de nuevo) para el districto 36.
Las veredas que se reparan son los dos lados de la

The basketball courts at Blackhawk Park desperately need repairs and new rims! This upgrade will fix
the courts and add removeable rims so the courts can be used at day but not at night.

Help create a safe and inviting space for our children
by fixing the basketball courts at Blackhawk Park.
The courts will recieve a new surface while the
basketball hoops will recieve new rims. These rims
will be removeable to only allow for basketball to be
played during the day, not at night. This project will
help make sure that our community parks stay up to
date and an important part of the community.

Crossing Belmont Ave is dangerous and this new crosswalk at Natchez Ave will help. Very close to a school and a bus
stop, this crosswalk is a matter of safety and convenience.

cercana a la escuela y la parada de los autobuses el Nuevo paso de peotones seria conveniente y daria seguridad a los
peotones.
Belmont is one of the busiest roads in the district and
very dangerous to cross for pedestrians. This project
would install a new crosswalk across Belmont at Natchez
Avenue. This location is very close to a school, bus stops
and other importan aspects of our ward. A crosswalk
would ensure a safe area for our residents and improve
the walkability of our ward.
La calle Belmont es uno de los caminos más ocupados en
el distrito y muy peligroso para cruzarse para peatones.
Este proyecto instalaría un nuevo cruce peatonal a través
de Belmont y Natchez. Esta ubicación está muy cerca de
escuela, paradas de autobús y otros aspectos importan
de nuestras salas. Un cruce peatonal aseguraría un área
segura para nuestros residentes y mejoraría el andar de
nuestra districto.

TREES IN PARKS

Our parks have lost hundreds of trees due to disease and infestation in the last few years. Now we can replace
those trees with a variety of new ones that will survive for decades to come.

The 36th ward is home to numerous parks that are important to
our residents. However, over the last few years many trees in our
parks have been lost to disease and infestation. This project would
replace these dying trees with new ones that will survive for future
generations. This will also serve to beautify not only the park,
but the ward as a whole. Trees would be planted at Bell Park,
Rutherford-Sayre Park, Blackhawk Park, and Hermosa Park
La 36 districto tiene numerosos parques tan importantes para
nuestros residentes. Sin embargo, durante los últimos años
muchos árboles en nuestros parques han sido perdidos debido a
enfermedad e infestación. Este proyecto sustituiría estos árboles
agonizantes por nuevo que sobrevivirá para generaciones futuras.
Esto también servirá para embellecer no sólo el parque, sino
también el districto en total. Los árboles serían plantados en
parque Bell, parque Rutherford Sayre, parque Blackhawk y parque
Hermosa.

The students at Prosser want to share their garden with the community! To do that they will need a path, wheelchair
access, additional lighting and new beds.
Los estudiantes de la escuela Prosser desean compartir su jardín con la comunidad. Para poder hacer esto, necesitarían
un camino, acceso para silla de ruedas, luces additionales y nuevas macetas.
The students at Prosser Career Academy have created their
own community gardens! This project seeks to improve these
gardens and allow even more of the community to use them. The
students need a new path and improvements to the surrounding
area to make it wheelchair accessible. This project also asks for
additional lighting and additional beds for more plants to serve
the community. Through this project students will continue to be
able to learn about gardening and healthy eating, but also give
back to the community.
¡Los estudiantes en la escuela de Prosser Career Academy han
creado su propio jardín de la comunidad! Este proyecto procura
mejorar estos jardines y permitir hasta mas de la comunidad
usarlos. Los estudiantes necesitan un nuevo camino y mejoras
en el área circundante para hacerlo accesible par alas silla de
ruedas. Además, este proyecto pide iluminación adicional y
camas adicionales para más plantas para servir la comunidad.
A través de este los estudiantes de proyecto seguirán siendo
capaces de aprender la horticultura y la comida sana, sino
también devolver a la comunidad.

current water feature flows non-stop all summer, wasting tax dollars.
Un nuevo rocio de agua interactivo que se podrá prender y apagar. Servirá a todos los vecinos especialmente a los ninos del parque Bell. El presente rocio de aqua actualmente permanece prendido las 24 horas del dia, desperdiciando el
dinero de nuestros impuestos.
This project seeks funding for a new water feature inside Bell Park.
The new water feature will be interactive, colorful, and have an on/
off water spray feature to make sure that the ward is not wasting any
water or any taxpayer money. The current water feature flows non-stop
all summer and wastes tax dollars. This project aims to create a new
and efficent water feature that will beautify the park and create a fun
and refreshing place for our residents during the summer months.

Este proyecto busca la financiación para un nuevo rasgo acuático
dentro del parque Bell. El nuevo rasgo acuático será interactivo,
vistoso, y tendrá un rasgo del spray abrir y cerrar acuático para
asegurarse que el districto no gasta ninguna agua o ningún dinero
del pagador fiscal. El rasgo acuático corriente fluye sin parar todo el
verano y dólares del los impuesto a la basura. Este proyecto apunta

Hermosa Park is a great place for kids and families, but it needs a wrought iron fence to keep the kids safe. Installing a
fence will keep kids safe and add to the beauty of this wonderful park.
El parque Hermosa es el lugar perfecto para los ninos y sus familiares, pero necesita una cerca de hierro para mantener a los ninos seguros. Instalando esta cerca tendremos a los ninos protegidos y tendríamos un parque bello.
Hermosa Park is an important part of the ward as it provides a
great place for kids and families. However, to ensure the saftey
of kids, this project seeks to install a wrought iron fence. This will
help protect children from the busy neighboring roads and help
beautify the park.

El parque Hermosa es una parque importante de el districto,
como es proporciona un gran lugar a niños y familias. Sin

vibrant community of the 36th Ward.

que pasa cerca de la escuela. Celebrando la cultura bella y la communidad vibrante del districto 36.
The 36th ward is as vibrant and diverse as any in the
city. To celebrate the culutre of our community, the
Student Voices Committee at North-Grand High School
would like to create and install a mural. This mural will
be placed on the railroad overpass at the intersection
of Kostner and Bloomindale and will help the continued
beautification of the ward!

This project seeks to provide a turf field for the students of
Locke Elementary School. These students have been without
an outdoor place to play for years and a turf field would
provide an outdoor space for kids to excercise and learn 12
months out of the year! The turf field is easy to maintain
and durable enough to last for decades. This project will
also help create another safe space for children across the
ward to play.

Este proyecto procura proporcionar un campo de césped
a los estudiantes de la Escuela Locke School. ¡Estos
estudiantes han sido sin un lugar al aire libre para jugar
