INLETS Lawson Aquatics™ Floor & Wall Inlet WARNING / ATTENTION/ AVISO STOP! NEW INSTALLATION READ FIRST Instructions for installation into Concrete Pools Model # MLD-FW-02 FLOOR & WALL ADJUSTABLE INLET WARNING: Use of this fitting as a suction/outlet fitting is prohibited. Risk of hair or body entrapment, drowning or disembowelment by using as submerged suction outlet is extremely dangerous and can result in death. During concrete placement, block out for installation of PVC base. Minimum block out – 8” diameter x 5” deep-V-shape. Cut inlet pipe to proper depth to assure fitting is flush with the pool finish when glued into place. Glue fitting to inlet pipe using PVC primer and glue onto either 1 1/2" or 2" PVC pipe. Use care to keep threaded brass inserts clean. Use proper non-shrink concrete mixture to grout around fitting. After pressure testing plumbing, remove built-in test plate by using a hole saw. Using a phillips-head screwdriver, install the grate and tighten the supplied screws to 30in/lbs torque. Grate can be installed in four different positions to direct water to various parts of the pool. Flow adjustment can be made by loosening grate screws and turning adjustment cam. Recommended flow range is between 20 & 80 GPM. See attached flow charts to determine setting. Once flow rate is established, re-tighten screws to 30in/lbs torque. CAUTION The fitting fasteners must be observed for damage or tampering before each use of this facility and or at least annually. Consultants will arrange inlet header pipes to suit their particular layouts. HYDRAULIC DESIGN: From the Flow Chart 250 GPM gives approximately 3.5 ft Head Loss / 100 ft. Using a 4" header pipe, continuous for the full length of the floor. Select 6 off 1.5" inlets, each producing 41.7 GPM. Restrict the flow at the narrow end of the pool, this will automatically increase the flow rate at the wide end of the keyhole shaped pool. Adjustments may be required to allow for increase flow to areas with higher load or deeper water. Reducing header pipe diameters requires: 1. Greater filtered water pressures. 2. Further restriction on inlets at the upstream of header pipe to balance pressure drop along length of header pipe. 6 Jefferson Drive, Coventry, RI 02816 • www.neptunebenson.com P (401) 821-2200 • (800) 832-8002 • F (401) 821-7129 INLETS Lawson Aquatics™ Floor & Wall Inlet WARNING / ATTENTION/ AVISO STOP!
