A MESSAGE FROM FATHER TIM
Dear Friends in Christ,
The time to say farewell has come. It has
been a short visit, but I want you to know you
have had a powerful impact on my life. When
I arrived here in January I was so excited
about getting back into ministry after a five
month hiatus. I was also very nervous because while I was still fairly confident in my
pastoral skills, I had experienced such a
deep conversion that I could hardly recognize myself. It was a very confusing time.
I want to thank Father Paul for being open to
me spending these last five months here at
Holy Apostles. These days and weeks have
been beautiful. I have had the chance to
continue with therapy, and to get back in the
saddle. My life in sobriety has deepened,
and I feel like I have become a better priest.
I want to thank Father Ruben for becoming
such a good friend. I have come to love his
gentle presence, his humor, and most of all,
his love for smoothies. He makes the best
fruit smoothies ever. I also want to thank the
entire staff for welcoming me here, and for
allowing me to be involved in different
ministerial events.
The most significant event I have been involved in has been the Family Faith Adult
Study in which we have read most of Pope
Francis' Exhortation: The Joy of Love: On love
in the Family. This book has helped me to
understand more deeply what it means to be
a father, a son, a member of the Church; a
dwelling place prepared for us by Jesus
Christ. There are many mansions in this
abode, and now I must become part of
another parish family. But we will always be
brothers and sisters in Christ, and for that I
will always be grateful.
In joyful hope,
Fr. Tim Seigel

Help Build Float/Take Part in Parade
McHenry’s annual Fiesta Days Parade will be on
Sunday, July 24 and the three Catholic parishes of
McHenry (St. Mary, St. Patrick and Church of Holy
Apostles) will enter a joint float for the first time! All
parish members are invited to take part—kids
(decorate your bikes and strollers!),
teens, and adults of all ages. A wagon
has been secured and plans have
been made for the design of the float.
A target date for having the float built
is July 13th but in order to do this
help is needed with the construction
of the float. If you are able to volunteer some time to
build the most awesome float in the parade, contact
Loren Schiera at 815-385-5673 or Jen Marsh at
815-388-0163 or email to jmarsh@thechurch
ofholyapostles.org. All three parishes will help build
the float but construction will take place in Holy
Apostles garage.

Families and their needs come in many forms. A local
widowed grandmother recently found herself raising her
fourteen year old granddaughter. While this privilege is
a great blessing, it also came
with many additional expenses, causing this woman to fall
months behind in her water bill
and with several doctor's bills.
Thanks to your generous gifts
to the St. Vincent de Paul
Society, Vincentians were able to provide financial
assistance in paying these bills along with several bags
of food to help stretch their meager income from Social
Security. Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed,
for he shares his bread with the poor. Proverbs 22:9
