Employment Authorization for Work / Travel J-1 Visa Holders
The DS2019 form is the employment authorization for J1 visa participants. When you are hiring a J1 Work/Travel visa participant, you
must always ask to see their DS2019 form. The visa stamped in their passport is not sufficient without a DS2019 form with valid dates. If
in doubt, please call the sponsoring agency to confirm that a participant is legal to work. The form will be printed on white pa-per from
the SEVIS database (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) by the sponsoring agency and signed in blue. We recommend
you photo copy each participant’s form for your records. Below is a sample DS2019 form.

What happens if you fail to validate?

If you do not give us your physical address within the required time, State Department
regulations require that your sponsor change your status to terminated which can have an
adverse effect on future visa applications to the USA.
If any US official checks on your status in the SEVIS system, they will know that you are in
the US illegally. This could result in your deportation from the US!!
If an employer calls us to verify you and you have a terminated status, we will tell them that
your work visa is no longer valid.
You must leave the United States immediately. If you do not and are stopped by any US
authorities, you will be deported.
Your insurance coverage can be cancelled.
Please note: You MUST come back to the website and give us your new information
whenever you change your living address. We must have any new information within 10
days of the address change. If you want to change your employer, you must contact
CCUSA to get permission to do so and send us a new completed Independent Job Offer
form. We must verify the new employer and you cannot work there until we have done
so.
If you fail to revalidate your visa or give us your new employer information within this time
frame, you risk having your visa terminated. If this happens, you must leave the US
immediately.
30 Day Check-In Procedure
After your initial validation, you are also required to contact CCUSA every 30 days to confirm your
living and working addresses and answer questions about your experience and the cultural activities
you have done. CCUSA will send you emails reminding you of this required contact. Failure to
respond to these emails or calls will result in the ending of your program.
To complete your 30 day check-in, log into http://footprints.ccusa.com WITHIN 30 days of your
validation or last check in. Confirm that your living and working details have not changed and
answer the questions. Once you have checked-in, you will need to check in again within 30 days. If
you do not check-in within 30 days, you will be locked out from this option and it may result in the
ending of your program. You are required to check in every 30 days with CCUSA until the end date
on your DS2019 form. Failure to do so can result in the termination of your visa program.

IMPORTANTE
deberá sercomunicada a CCUSA.
ATENCION!
Handbook.
