Fr. Mike asked parishioner Marusia Castillo to bring us up
to date on this tragedy. She returned from her wedding
with parishioner Steve Connaughton just days before the
quake. We will take up a special second collection the
weekend of May 21-22. That will be sent to Catholic
Relief Services which has a strong presence in the
relief effort there.
On Saturday, April 16 at 6:58 pm, an earthquake with a
magnitude 7.8 shook the Ecuador coast. The epicenter was
located in the province of Manabi and was 12 miles deep in
the earth.
This is the worst tragedy that has struck Ecuador in the last
67 years. There are still bodies being pulled from the
rubble with the help of the international community.
By the grace of God, my family and friends are doing
well. Many of them are heavily involved in the relief efforts.

“MAKE -A-CHANGE” FOR MAY
ST. JULIE ROSARY MAKERS
Standing around.
We do a lot of that, don’t we? Standing
around, looking about, wondering
what to do next. Two Bible stories told
this Ascension Day bring this up. The
first reading (Acts 1:1-11) has the
apostles standing around, looking up
as Jesus goes to heaven. Two white garment-clad strangers
have to tell them: What are you doing? Go, do your work. In
the Gospel (Luke 24:46-53), the disciples come off better.
Jesus is taken up to heaven and, without being told, they
(1) give Jesus homage, (2) return in joy, and (3) continually
praise God. So:
• How can everything I do this week acknowledge and
venerate Jesus?
• How can I joyfully do what I do?
• How can my praise of God bring others to Christ?

CANA II
The Cana II Team in the
Cincinnati area and the
Dayton/Northern area
of the archdiocese is
searching for couples who are presently living
in successful second marriages within the
Church to participate in this ministry.
This marriage preparation ministry is an excellent
resource for couples preparing to enter into this
unique marriage situation. It is powerful because

marriage situation they are planning to enter and
they are sincerely supportive to the couples who
attend this program.
Topics covered are: Forgiveness (of self and
past relationships); Family of Origin, Conflict resolution, Communication, Sacrament of Marriage, Intimacy & Sexuality, Remarriage Concerns: StepFamily issues, and Finances as they pertain to a
second marriage. The time commitment to this
ministry is 2-3 meetings in preparation for the

contacte a: Karla Eysoldt al (513) 448-8994 or
[email protected]
