Any object pronoun needed should be attached to the end of the command. Add an accent if necessary to maintain proper stress. Estudias la lección. → ¡Estúdiala! Me oyes. → ¡Óyeme! The following verbs have irregular affirmative commands. hacer → haz (no hagas) decir → di (no digas) ir → ve (no vayas) poner → pon (no pongas) salir → sal (no salgas) ser → sé (no seas) tener → ten (no tengas) venir → ven (no vengas) To make a negative informal command, drop the -o of the yo form of the present indicative and add -es for -ar verbs or -as for -er and -ir verbs. Object pronouns precede the verb in negative commands. Escucho la radio. → ¡No la escuches! Pongo la mesa. → ¡No la pongas! To say Let’s not . . ., use no + the nosotros form of the subjunctive. ¡Comamos algo! ¡Vamos a comer algo! No salgamos esta noche. No hablemos de eso ahora. • Use ¡Vamos! to say Let’s go! and ¡No vayamos! to say Let’s not go! • Attach any pronouns to the end of an affirmative command and place them before a negative command. Note the written accent. ¡No lo hagamos mañana! ¡Hagámoslo hoy! • With the reflexive pronoun nos in affirmative commands, drop the -s from the verb before adding the pronoun. Sentémonos.
